Instead of going to the Star Temple to celebrate this New Moon the sisters, Snowy Owl and Shooting Star, felt a strong calling to go to the clearing in the woods near their tribal land. Grandfather Sun had not yet risen so the night sky was still sparkling with Starry Ones. Shooting Star felt the power of their messages as she was the keeper of the Sky Stories. Somehow she knew that they would play a powerful part at this lunation.
As the young women neared the clearing they saw the bonfire in the center of that space. Around the fire sat their Mother, Flicker, Grandmother, Snow Goose, and the three Medicine Men, Red Crab, Black Beetle, and Painted Turtle. All five were playing a large drum whose sound reverberated in the night and matched the heartbeat of Mother Earth. The sisters knew when the Shamans joined the celebration the message for the coming Moon cycle was of utmost importance.
When Grandfather Sun rose in the east the drumming stopped and Sister Moon spoke. This was the time of the dark moon so she was not visible but her presence was strongly felt. Luna said “This Moon cycle is to remind the humans that all life created by Great Mystery is Sacred. This is the time when the Great Universal Mother Goddess is most powerful. She is the holder of knowledge and wisdom from the Goddess Tradition. It is time to honour her and thank her for her gifts of nurturing and nourishing all life. Whenever you need to feel protected she is always there guiding you.”
Sister Moon continued “At this New Moon I will be joined later by two Starry Ones. The first is called the Shinning One and asks the two leggeds to see the Sacred in the ordinary. The second is called The Wise One and asks humans to find new ways of being that honour the Oneness of All. This Moon cycle is about mastering the emotions so the wisdom of the Soul can be what guides each human to do no harm and create a world of peace built on Love. Now more than ever this is crucial in the far away time. All of you gathered here understand this message. It is time for you to step onto your destiny path and awaken others who are still asleep. IT IS TIME.”
About two hours after the New Moon Luna will align with the Fixed Stars Sirius, finding the Sacred in every day, and Canopus, The Wise One who guides us to discover the new. Those are the Starry Ones in our story.
With Mercury (our thoughts and perceptions) the Sun (our identity and individuality) The Moon (our emotions and intuitive guidance) Venus (self-love) and Vulcan (our hidden wounds) all in the sign of Cancer this is a very emotional Moon. The key phrase for Cancer is “I feel everything deeply” so expect emotional issues to be on the agenda for this Moon cycle. Cancer is found on the Tarot Constellation of The Chariot; mastery through Change. The image of this 7th card is a chariot being pulled by two horses trying to go in different directions. It is up to the Charioteer (you) to channel positive energy into the horses (emotions) so they will take you where you want to go. That is what this Moon cycle is asking us all to do.
The ruler of this Lunation is the Moon and she also influences all the other planets in Cancer. She, and they, support us to master our tendency as humans to engage in emotional drama and instead embrace the healing power of love. All the planets in Cancer are opposite (tug of war needing to find balance) Pluto in Capricorn (transformation and releasing what no longer serves us). Venus at 20 degrees Cancer and Pluto at 16 degrees Capricorn are both square Eris, the Goddess of discord and strife, at 23 degrees Aries, and Uranus, breaking through to the Authentic Self, at 24 degrees Aries. This is a Cardinal T Square and can make us feel energetically backed into a corner. But Uranus, breaking free from the past, is receiving the most activation. The release point is Libra. Although there are no planet in Libra at this New Moon many people will have natal planets in Libra (15 to 25 degrees) creating a doorway for you to walk though. The highest expression of Libra is to be a Peacemaker.
Jupiter is the exalted ruler of Cancer and Neptune is the Soul Centered ruler of Cancer. They are part of a Mutable T Square that has been activating us since the beginning of the year. The North Node (new directions) at 14 degrees Virgo and Jupiter at 17 degrees Virgo are The Rainbow Bridge of Healing into Wholeness. They are opposite (balance) the South Node at 14 degrees Pisces (releasing the wounds from the past) and Neptune at 11 degrees Pisces (illusion or illumination). Saturn at 10 degrees Sagittarius (limiting beliefs or spiritual enlightenment) is square (motivation for change) that opposition. At the Gemini New Moon of June 04 we had the opportunity to break out of that T Square by writing our new story. Obviously Great Mystery has decided we humans still need to be reminded “we are our own worst enemy”. If you have planets between 09 to 18 degrees Gemini you have a way to break out. If not keep working at transforming the emotional patterns. They are what keep you stuck.
The Universe always does give us “a way out”. Venus at 20 degrees Cancer (self-love and self-nurturing) is trine (ease and flow) Mars at 23 degrees Scorpio (transformative action). They both trine (harmony) Chiron at 25 degrees Pisces (healing our wounds and the world wound). That is a Grand Water Trine, easily healing and releasing emotions that keep us stuck. There is probably much more to say about this Moon cycle but time is slipping by. Just a reminder Cancer is the sign I associate with a sense of Spiritual Destiny. It is the 7th sign and asks us to step onto the Mystical Path. That may be the gift of this Cancer New Moon cycle for us all.
This is the first New Moon of the South Direction on the Medicine Wheel for the Northern Hemisphere. It is the Hot Sun and Long Days Moon Time. The South Direction is the place of expansion, growth, and learning to trust our intuition. That really means learning to trust ourselves. For the Southern Hemisphere this is the first New Moon of the North Direction on your Medicine Wheel The North Direction is the place of reflection and transforming knowledge into wisdom and sharing that wisdom. This is your Earth Renewal Moon Time. It is a time for inner connection and nurturing the self so you can share your spiritual gifts.
Cancer is the sign of our roots and ancestry, our current family tribe, and our emotional reactions to life. But it is also the sign of mastering the emotions and stepping onto the Mystical Path and living our Spiritual Destiny. In the Northern Hemisphere Flicker of the Woodpecker family is the guide for this Moon cycle as we learn the lesson of mastering the emotions. This Animal Totem teaches how to experience transition effortlessly and easily so transformation can occur. This Winged One reminds us that when we experience transition in our life IT IS leading to transformation and new opportunities. This is also a time for new growth, expansion, healing, and love. For the Southern Hemisphere your Animal Totem guide is Snow Goose, following your dreams and spiritual vision.
Loves All Things is the Clan Mother for this Cancer New Moon. She is the Guardian of non-judgmental, compassionate, and unconditional love. She teaches us the wisdom of allowing and respecting the sacredness of all life. She reminds us when we love and heal ourselves only then can we free our authentic self. You can discover more of her wisdom in the 13 Original Clan Mothers or/and Earth Medicine by Jamie Sams.
As mentioned the Tarot Constellation that is activated by this New Moon is The Chariot, the principle of Mastery Through Change. It is the vibration of the Sacred Number 7 which is found in all spiritual traditions. I call it stepping onto the Mystical Path. Again in the symbolism of the seventh Tarot card a chariot is being pulled by two horses. One is white and the other is black. They are trying to go in different directions. The Charioteer needs to find inner mastery and channel that power into the horses so they will unite and move forward together taking the Charioteer where she or he wants to go. The Horse is a symbol for strength, movement, and freedom. The other energy of this Constellation is the planet Mars. Currently in Scorpio he symbolizes transformative action.
This Cancer New Moon is expressed on the 7Th Ray of Ceremonial Order and White Magic. It is the Ray of Ascension with Archangels Zadkiel, Invocation and Prayer, and Amethyst, Forgiveness and Freedom as our guides. They are the Keepers of the Violet Flame of Transmutation and Illumination. The other Ray is the 3rd of Divine Mind and Active Intelligence with Archangels Chamuel, Divine Love and Adoration, and Charity, Gratitude and Grace. As always these Archangels will guide us with Love and Divine Compassion when we call on them. They are emissaries of Creator and Great Mystery.
I close with the lyrics of a song that keeps running through my mind. “What the world needs now is LOVE, SWEET LOVE. Not just for some, but for everyone”.
Love and blessings,
ॐ Namasté - Blessings!
