Spring Equinox Southern Hemisphere
23 Sept at 2.50 am EST Lima, Peru- 3.50 pm AWST Perth- 5.50 pm AEST Sydney
At Equinox from our perspective on Earth the Sun is standing still at the Equator giving us equal daylight and night darkness. But in the Northern Hemisphere at Autumn Equinox the Earth begins to tilt away from the Sun and the Lunar Force (introspection and intuitive knowing) becomes dominant for the next six months. In the Southern Hemisphere at Spring Equinox the Earth is tilting toward the Sun and the Solar Force (individuality and new vision) becomes dominant. These seasonal changes open up a Medicine Wheel Direction for each hemisphere.
At Autumn Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere we enter the West Direction of our Medicine Wheel. It is The Looking Within Place. It is the place of introspection, adulthood, personal responsibility, and discovering our inner strength. It asks us to use our power with integrity and fairness. The guardians of the West Direction are Grizzly Bear, introspection and inner strength, Black Horse, freedom and movement, and The Thunderbeings, Cosmic Power. They are guiding us until Winter Solstice on Dec 21/22.
At Spring Equinox in the Southern Hemisphere we enter the East Direction of your Medicine Wheel. It is the place of Awakening, creative inspiration, and new vision. The Guardian of the East Direction is Eagle, keen observation, insight, and spiritual connection. Eagle teaches us to rise above any situation and see what is really going on. This Winged One carries our prayers to Creator and Great Mystery. He reminds us “we are spiritual beings having a human experience” and that we are never alone as we travel life’s curvy road. Eagle guides you until Summer Solstice on Dec 21/22 (depending on your time zone).
The birth chart for Equinox shows us the theme for the next three months. The Sun is at 00 degrees Libra 00 minutes. It is asking us to find inner balance and be peaceful warriors for justice and fairness for all. Not just for the human kingdom but for all the Earth Mother’s kingdoms. The planetary ruler of the Equinox Sun is Venus at 10 degrees Libra 52 minutes (loving kindness in all our relating). She is travelling with Mercury at 14 degrees Libra 57 minutes (harmonious thoughts). They are echoing the theme of finding inner balance and creating outer harmony and peace. BUT as usual the Universe throws us a curve in the road.
Venus and Mercury are in a T Square pattern (feeling backed into a corner). They are the focus of this pattern. In Libra if we are not balanced within we can become passive aggressive and blame others for our inner conflict never taking responsibility for what we feel and healing it. This planetary pair is square the North Node at 14 degrees Cancer (new spiritual directions) and the Moon at 15 degrees Cancer (mastering the emotions and being guided by our Soul Wisdom) and also square (motivation for change) Saturn at 13 degrees Capricorn and the South Node at 14 degrees Capricorn (releasing painful patterns from the past). This Saturn/South Node theme has been active since late April when Saturn turned retrograde (finding inner power to change). Saturn has just moved in direct motion (Sept 18) and will exactly conjoin the South Node on Sept 28 the day of the Libra Super New Moon (inner peace and harmony). But remember this Equinox chart influences us until the December Solstices. Ask yourself “do I want to wait that long to release the past that no longer serves me?” My answer is NO. Do it now and free yourself.
We have help out of this T Square from the Starry Ones. The Fixed Stat Sirius (finding the Sacred in all things) at 14 degrees Cancer is travelling with the North Node and Canopus (seeking a new pathway) is at 15 degrees Cancer travelling with the Moon (mastery through change). Vega the star of enchantment and the poetic Soul seeking the magic in life is at 15 degrees Capricorn travelling with the South Node and Saturn. Vega and Saturn will be travelling together (celestial longitude) until mid-November. It is said Vega connects us to “the other worldly”. It carries a touch of the magical. But the Fixed Star that leads us out of the T Square is Alpheratz at 14 degrees Aries. This Starry one is located in the Constellation of Andromeda but also linked to Pegasus, the Flying Horse. It is a symbol of independence and freedom. That is the doorway this Equinox opens for us wherever we live.
We also have the remnant of the Jupiter in Sagittarius (belief systems) and Neptune in Pisces (illusion or illumination) Fourth Quarter Square that has influenced us since January of this year. This is the phase that asks us to revision and realign our true calling. Mars at 23 degrees Virgo creates a T Square. Mars in Virgo asks us to take action that leads to healing into wholeness. He is trine (removal of obstacles) Pluto Rx at 20 degrees Capricorn (transformation of society) and Vesta at 27 degrees Taurus (commitment to our spiritual journey and healing the Earth Mother).
And so this Equinox holds so much promise for the new way. All you have to do is choose to walk the path with compassion and kindness for all.
