Here in the North Country this New Moon cycle was the Growing Time. The last cycle had been the Budding Trees Time. New beginnings. But everything felt delayed. As Snowy Owl and Shooting Star began to prepare for the Moon ceremony they felt guided to go to the river that flowed by the nearby grove of trees. Usually by this time in spring the Standing Ones had halos of soft green leaves. But now the leaves were just beginning to bud. The river was running high because of all the recent rain. Warmth had not yet returned. As the sisters passed through the meadow the plant people were struggling to emerge. The Growing Time was slow in coming.

When the young women reached the river it was flowing fast. The message seemed to be things will eventually flow easily. From the woods the sisters heard the Frog Clan singing. The message was cleansing and clearing creates space for new growth and expansion. Then they immediately noticed the Beaver Family had left their old lodge and were swimming downstream to build the new. So although struggle seemed to be what the sisters were now feeling in their lives the promise of the new was the message from Frog and Beaver and the river.

Rain

This has been a challenging spring for many of us. Rain, rain, and more rain has caused extensive flooding in Northern and eastern Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritime provinces. Western Canada and the US prairies have been hit with snow storms. Cyclones have wreaked havoc in other parts of the world. Mother Nature is letting us know (the two leggeds) we must change our priorities from superficial accumulation to valuing and nurturing our precious planet Gaia and valuing our true selves.

Taurus is the Fixed Earth sign. Its focus is on what is of true value and importance. The Buddha has a strong connection to Taurus and his teaching was to practice Loving Kindness for all. The last Moon cycle in Aries asked us to release who we are not. This Taurus Moon cycle asks us to honour and believe in our empowered self. Beaver, building the new, is the Animal Totem guide for this Moon cycle. Frog, cleansing and clearing to create space for the new to emerge is the Sacred Totem for Taurus. At this New Moon the astrological Earth is in Scorpio, guided by Snake, shedding the old and transformation. Metamorphosis is the gift. To become your Authentic Self.

But this Moon cycle does have twists and turns just like LIFE. The Sun/Moon at 14 degrees Taurus 11 minutes is sextile (easy opportunities) the North Node at 19 degrees Cancer (new spiritual directions) and trine (removal of obstacles) the trio of Pluto Rx 23 Capricorn, Saturn Rx 20 Capricorn, and South Node at 19 degrees Capricorn. The message is release the limitation and restrictions of the past as you journey to the new you. Neptune is at 18 degrees Pisces (connection to the mystical) and working in harmony with the above energies. Neptune is the Light of Inspiration and frees us from illusion when we choose to live our truth.

Here comes one of the twists. Neptune (what is true/what is not true) is square (motivation for finding new ways of doing things) Jupiter Rx at 23 Sagittarius (our spiritual vision or dogmatic judgment) and Mars at 22 Gemini (scattered thinking and erratic actions). Jupiter opposes Mars and is asking us to make choices guided by our higher consciousness. The problem is Mars (impulsive action) is inconjunct (adjustment and release) Pluto in Capricorn.  The message is the old programing needs to be transformed.

The next twist is Venus at 17 degrees Aries the ruler of the Taurus New Moon. In Aries she symbolizes inspired new beginnings or impulsively leaping before looking. Venus is square (finding new ways of doing things) the Cancer North Node (new spiritual directions) and Pluto, Saturn and South Node in Capricorn (sacred purpose). This is a T Square with the focus on Venus. The good news she is sextile Mars in Gemini (clear thinking) and Jupiter in Sagittarius (expansion of your spiritual vision). Vesta at 14 degrees Aries (commitment to being of spiritual service) is travelling with Venus (love and harmony) so as always the Universe gives us a gateway to the new if we choose to walk through.

As we mentioned our Totem guides are Beaver for Taurus and Snake for Scorpio. They are reversed for the Southern Hemisphere but both lead us on the path of transformation. For all of us the Clan Mother is Listening Woman, the mother of inner knowing. She teaches us to enter the Stillness and hear our heart’s wisdom. She teaches us to hear the truth when we are centered in our compassionate hearts. More of her story can be found in the 13 Original Clan Mothers by Jamie Sams.

Taurus is active on the Tarot Constellation of The Hierophant, the principle of learning and becoming the wise teacher. It is also dancing to the tune of a different drummer. Taurus and Scorpio are 4th Ray signs. It is the Ray of Harmony Through Conflict or Harmony Through Beauty. Let us all choose beauty and loving Kindness. The Archangels who guide us are Gabriel, releasing old patterns and resurrection, and Hope, always believing in possibilities for renewal.

This Taurus Moon cycle supports us to break free of struggle and embrace the opportunity of expansion and growth of our true self.
