12 Feb at 3.06 am AWST Perth- 6.06 am AEDT Sydney NSW Australia
Each Lunar cycle the Sun and Moon go through eight phases. When they meet at New Moon they are at the same degree in the same zodiac sign (inspired new vision). When they are separated by 45 degrees they are in the Crescent Phase (expansion and growth of that new vision but sometime that creates struggling with the new). At 90 degrees separation they are in the First Quarter Phase (decision, action, breaking free). At 135 degrees separation they enter the Gibbous Phase (evaluation and integration of mind and spirit). Full Moon they are 180 degrees apart (blossoming of the new vision but recognizing what is not working). At 225 degrees separation they are in the Disseminating Phase (sharing your vision) and at 270 degrees separation they are in the Fourth Quarter Phase (realignment and revision and getting ready to let go of what is not in alignment with your Soul Path). At 315 degrees separation they reach the Balsamic Phase (healing, completion, and release). These are the themes for the Sun/Moon interactions each Moon cycle. They are influenced by the astrological signs activated at each Phase.
As I write this post it is Feb 10 and we are in the Balsamic Phase of the Capricorn Moon cycle which began on Jan 12/13 (depending on your time zone). Pluto (healing, transformation, and release) was an important player during this cycle. Here is the message given to us from the Circle of Grandmothers at that New Moon “it is time to become your true self and give your Soul gifts of healing to the world. You are that spark of light in the darkness. You are a Way Shower for the new way. But first you must release any obstacles or fears standing in your way. As you do, this New Moon offers you the courage and strength to follow your Soul Path”. This Balsamic Phase is the time to release those fears and obstacles so you can live your hopes, dreams, and visions the coming Aquarius New Moon promises.
Usually the Balsamic Phase (which began Feb 07) is a time for introspection, a looking within time. But Sister Moon and the other planets are having a party. Of course with physical distancing in mind. I feel this will be an influence for the Aquarius New Moon cycle. The party began when the Moon still in Capricorn met with Pluto (healing, release, and transformation) on Feb 09 echoing the theme of the Capricorn Moon cycle. Then Sister Moon entered Aquarius that evening. On Feb 10 the party is in full swing. Here is in the line-up. Mercury Rx in Aquarius square Mars in Taurus (revising what is of true value and importance). Moon in Aquarius sextile Chiron in Aries (healing old wounds) Moon conjunct Saturn in Aquarius (releasing obstacles and strengthening your spiritual foundation) Moon square Uranus in Taurus (breakthrough to the new) Moon conjunct Venus in Aquarius and Jupiter in Aquarius (being true to self and expansion of your spiritual vision). Remember the Balsamic Phase is asking us to release what no longer serves us so we can make space for the new that is to come.
New Moon day begins at 2.22 am EST with the Aquarius Moon merging with Mercury Rx (courage of your convictions guided by inner strength) then Moon at 4.55 am EST squares Mars in Taurus (finding new ways of acting based on true values) and at 10.00 am EST Venus merges with Jupiter in Aquarius (cosmic love and cosmic consciousness). The New Moon at 23 degrees Aquarius (inspired new beginnings and sharing your gifts of healing with the world) occurs at 2.06 pm EST. It then enters a Void of Course period until Friday Feb 12 at 2.23 am EST giving us time to connect within to our sacred self. This Moon cycle is guided by Saturn in Aquarius (creating a new foundation) and Uranus in Taurus (breaking through to the new). On Feb 17 these two rulers of this Moon cycle will square each other (motivation for change and finding new ways of doing things). They will be at 07 degrees Aquarius/Taurus. Pay attention to what you need to change. This square occurs again June 14 at 13 degrees Aquarius/Taurus and the final square is Dec 24 at 11 degrees Aquarius/Taurus. Finding new ways of doing things is definitely the theme for this square activation and 2021.
For the Aquarius New Moon our Animal Totem guide is Otter, curiosity, companionship, and joyful sharing (still of course remembering physical distancing). The Earth is in Leo at this Lunation and is guided by Salmon, courage and determination to create the new. They are reversed for the Southern hemisphere. For all of us the Clan Mother who guides this Moon cycle is Wisdom Keeper. She is the guardian of friendship, planetary unity, and Mutual Understanding. She teaches us to honour the truth. (The 13 Original Clan Mothers by Jamie Sams). While Saturn remains in Aquarius (until Mar 2023) she will be guiding us to strengthen our personal foundation to encourage Mutual Understanding in the world.
