2022 Aquarius Super New Moon
Chinese Lunar New Year of the Tiger

There is a lot of shifting in the planetary dance happening at this New Moon. On Jan 29 Capricorn Morning Star Venus (the power of love to change the World) moved in forward motion after being retrograde in the Underworld since Dec 19. At the beginning of her journey her companion was Pluto (healing, transformation, and releasing the old). It was a time to re-evaluate our relationship experience and decide what it was time to release and what it was time to strengthen. As Morning Star she is a warrior spirit giving us the strength and courage to change. She will still be in that energy until March 03 when she again aligns with Pluto in Capricorn. So even though we are coming into the New Moon we are still experiencing the need to let the old go.

Mercury (our thoughts and perceptions) is in Capricorn at this Aquarius New Moon aligning with Pluto (exact on Jan 28). He has been retrograde since Jan 14 beginning his journey in Aquarius (new vision for the world) but re-entered Capricorn Rx on Jan 25. Mercury continues to ask us to review and rethink the gifts of knowledge and healing we are here to share with the World. That is the theme of the Aquarius New Moon. Mercury moves direct on Feb 03 at 11.13 pm EST but is still in his retrograde shadow until Feb 23. So again even though we are entering a New Moon of new beginnings we are not done with the old yet. But remember when one door closes another one opens. That is the promise of this Aquarius New Moon.

The New Moon is at 12 degrees Aquarius 20 and travelling with Saturn at 15 degrees Aquarius 30. Saturn is the traditional ruler of Aquarius so is strong here. He supports us to strengthen the foundation for a vision of a New Earth. Saturn is society. But the modern ruler of Aquarius is Uranus at 10 degrees Taurus 53 squaring the New Moon (motivation for change, breaking through to what is of true value and importance, and finding new ways of doing things). This echoes the Saturn/Uranus square of 2021 (realignment and revision). Uranus in Taurus is guided by Venus at 11 degrees 14 Capricorn (the power of love to change the World). They are trine each other (removal of obstacles and ease and flow). But Venus is squared by Chiron at 09 degrees Aries 16 (motivation to heal old wounds in order to move through the new doorway). Squares represent finding new ways of doing things. But Chiron, the healer, is also sextile the Moon (new opportunities the Universe is gifting us with).

We have more support from the Universe. Mercury Rx is at 24 Capricorn 57, Pluto is at 26 Capricorn 57, and the relationship asteroid Juno is at 29 degrees Capricorn 42. They are trine (removal of obstacles) the North Node at 28 degrees Taurus 43 (new directions and what is of true value) and sextile the South Node at 28 degrees Scorpio 43 (healing and releasing the past). Venus is the guide for the North Node and Pluto is the guide for the South Node. The Capricorn planets are also sextile Neptune at 21 degrees Pisces 26 and Pallas Athene at 25 degrees Pisces 34 (the wisdom to see through illusion and walk the Path of Illumination). Neptune and Pallas are also sextile the North Node (new opportunities to embrace the new path).

The Clan Mother who guides us in this Aquarius New Moon cycle is Wisdom Keeper. She is the Mother of friendship, Planetary Unity, and Mutual Understanding. She teaches us to honour the truth. She is the guardian of Ancient Knowledge and Wisdom. For the Earth in Leo we are guided by She Who Heals. She is the Keeper of the Healing Arts and the Intuitive Healer. Our Animal Totem guide for the Aquarius New Moon cycle is Otter, companionship, friendship, and sharing. I love when River Otters sleep they hold hands so they don’t float away. Maybe that is where “A helping hand” comes from. For the Earth in Leo we are guided by Salmon, courage and determination to create the new. They are reversed for the Southern Hemisphere. The North Node and Uranus in Taurus are guided by Beaver, clearing the old and building the new. The South Node in Scorpio is guided by Snake, shedding the old and re-birth. They too are reversed for the Southern Hemisphere.

And of course we cannot forget that this is the Year of the Tiger, confidence, courage, independence, creative passion. And Mystical Power. Receive the gift.
