John Cali and Chief Joseph

John Cali and Chief Joseph

Since 1992, John Cali has been communicating with a non-physical entity called Joseph. In one of his many physical lifetimes, this spirit was incarnated as the legendary Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce tribe in what is now the state of Oregon in the northwestern USA. These messages are a blend of information from Joseph, other spirits in the "Joseph group," and John.

In the following collection of articles, Chief Joseph describes the process of manifestation, our limiting beliefs, our illusion of security, how prayer affects our lives and the lives of our loved ones, and how our attachments can limit our joy.

Chief Joseph maintains that our lives were meant to be joyful and abundant.

You Always Get What You Ask For Unless . . . .

You Always Get What You Ask For Unless . . . .

Late last Saturday afternoon I was driving out to my brother’s ranch to have dinner and spend the evening with him, his wife, and some close friends.

It was a beautiful early winter day with a clear blue sky, a few puffy white clouds, and freshly fallen snow sparkling in the rugged mountains all around.

John Cali

It’s over an hour-long, 40-mile drive on a narrow winding mountain road from Cody, Wyoming (USA) where I live. To me it’s one of the most beautiful roads on the planet. The scenery is simply spectacular. Every time I’ve gone up there over the past 23 years or so, I feel like I’m going home again.

Since the ranch is west of town I was driving into the bright sun, by now hovering low over the late-afternoon horizon.

I thought I wasn’t going to be able to enjoy the gorgeous mountain and valley views so much with the sunlight in my face all the way out to the ranch. "Oh well," I said to myself, "I’m going to enjoy the ride anyway." I just let it go.

A mile or two out of town a dark cloud suddenly appeared and covered the sun. The rest of the sky was mostly crystal clear and bright blue.

That cloud stayed over the sun for my entire hour-plus trip, even though it was a wildly windy day. So I got to enjoy the spectacular alpine views without being half-blinded by bright sunlight.

I figured there must be a message in this. So I asked Chief Joseph.

Chief Joseph

The topic of manifesting comes up so often in our work with John. So here we are discussing it again today.

Even though manifesting what you ask for is a simple process, many humans still struggle with it. It does not have to be a struggle. Yet it is, for various reasons.

Manifesting anything you want, big or small, should be easy. It can be easy if you allow it to be. It’s a simple three-step process.

First, you ask. Any time you have a desire, you’ve automatically asked.

Second, the Universe answers your desire.

Third, you, the asker, allow it to come to you.

That third step is the big bad bugaboo for many of you. You are very inventive when it comes to blocking your manifestations.

You don’t feel worthy. You believe nothing should be easy. You don’t believe you can have what you want simply by asking (instead of struggling and working hard). Someone talks you out of what you want. The list is endless.

But all these blocks have one thing in common. They are at a lower vibration. Your desire, your asking is at a high vibration. You must remain at that high vibration to receive the manifestation. If you do not, you slow it down, or stop it altogether.

If you do what John did (although he wasn’t doing it consciously), that is, just get out of the way, you’ll get what you want quickly. In his case, almost instantaneously.

Manifesting, friends, is that easy, that simple.

You always get what you ask for unless you get in the way.

Limiting Beliefs

Limiting Beliefs

Last week after we published our Money podcast, we received a fair amount of feedback. With one exception, it was all positive. In the exception, the letter writer talked about limiting beliefs. So we’ve decided to do this week’s article on that very subject.

John Cali

Here are the comments from the person talking about limiting beliefs:

"In today's podcast it is said that creating wealth is as ‘simple’ as giving up limiting beliefs, but come on: this IS the crux of the problem!! No one DELIBERATELY holds on to limiting beliefs, yet relinquishing them, overcoming programming, is NEVER EVER a simple matter. Can Chief Joseph say ANYTHING about this that is not glib, banal, facile, dismissive, but instead, truly helpful?" (Emphasis is the letter writer’s.)

And here’s another email, asking a simple question:

"And now, (can you give us) assistance in removing limiting beliefs?"

That’s the question the first letter writer was apparently asking, although not directly. She did, however, clarify her intent in a follow-up email. It’s a good question.

You may remember a poll I took a while ago. I asked all of you, our newsletter subscribers, if you preferred long or short newsletters. The overwhelming majority voted for short. You said you don’t have the time or desire to read long articles. So we keep them short.

We’ve applied the same policy to our podcasts, and also keep them short.

he result of this policy is we cannot fully explore any given issue in one newsletter or podcast. That upsets some people, but most understand and don’t complain or criticize.

However, we’re always willing to do follow-up articles or podcasts if enough of you ask us to.

Here’s Chief Joseph.

Chief Joseph

You don’t need to analyze your so-called limiting beliefs. You don’t need to know all their origins. You’ll drive yourselves crazy trying to sort all that out. Besides, none of it matters.

What does matter is how you are feeling in this present moment. If you are feeling good, you are letting in those things you want. If you’re feeling bad, you’re not letting them in.

It really is that simple.

All your power is right here and now, in this present moment. No past limiting belief can rob you of your power.

You humans have this strange habit of making life complicated and hard because you believe that is the only way you can achieve anything worthwhile. You know -- that saying you have, "No pain, no gain."

That, friends, is the ultimate limiting belief.

Feeling good, looking for things to appreciate, choosing good-feeling thoughts -- these are the sure-fire keys to improving your lives and living your dreams.

Then you won’t be so concerned about ridding yourselves of limiting beliefs. You will have automatically rid yourselves of them by simply deciding nothing is more important than feeling good, feeling passion, loving your life in the present moment.

Look for things to appreciate in yourselves, in your lives, in other people, in the world around you.

That is the key to ridding yourselves of limiting beliefs. And it really is so simple!

The Illusion of Security

The Illusion of Security

One of the Washington Post's headlines yesterday read "U.S. Downturn Dragging World Into Recession." How does that headline make you feel? Insecure perhaps? Scared?

John Cali

BTW, in keeping with Joseph's frequent advice about not reading "bad" news, I didn’t read the article. But the headline intrigued me.

Most of my life I was a "security freak." I wanted absolute certainty in my life. In an effort to achieve that I planned everything out in advance. I had a ridiculously detailed written 1-year plan, a 5-year plan, a 10-year plan, and far beyond. It gave me the illusion of security.

I was raised, as I'm sure many of you were, to believe security could be found in -- well, you name it -- a college education, a stable career, a happy marriage, a big bank account, a religious faith, the government, and so on. We were taught to believe security existed only outside ourselves.

Despite that background and that near-paranoid craving for security, I usually did whatever I pleased with my life. I suppose I was the "black sheep" of my family because often I didn't do what "conventional wisdom" dictated.

In that sense, I’m still the black sheep. But I no longer have the illusion of security.

Here’s Chief Joseph.

Chief Joseph

We would ask you to define what security means to you. It is probably any number of different things, including some of those John mentioned.

What is going to happen if you place your faith, your trust in those things -- dollars, religion, government, other people, etc.?

Once you've reached some sense of security in whatever way you can, you still don't, and never will, know with absolute certainty what lies ahead of you. Isn't that what lies at the heart of your yearning for security -- wanting to know what the future holds for you?

You all live with uncertainty, no matter how much false security you think you have. That perhaps is the real key here today. Can you still live a joyful life in the midst of uncertainty?

There are no guarantees, friends. As long as you live in these physical bodies, you will never know what the future holds.

Even we in these dimensions of spirit do not know your or our future -- because we are all growing, changing, evolving into greater and grander expressions of divinity, of God.

None of the illusions of security can give you real security. Your real security lies within you. You are all powerful beings, free to create whatever you wish.

Why not create a life of joy, even if you know not what the future holds? Even in the midst of global recessions? Why not live fully in each present moment, loving your life and everyone, everything in it?

You can live joyously even in the midst of uncertainty. You are your security. Finding joy in your life is the only guarantee of security. It's all you need. Then you will find security amidst the uncertainty because then you will know you, as an extension of God, can create the life of your dreams.

You don't need to know what lies ahead. You only need to know you are the creator.

Does Praying Do Any Good?

Does Praying Do Any Good?

Last week one of our newsletter readers sent us a question about prayer. She wondered if praying does any good at all. Or is it just an exercise in frustration and futility?

John Cali

Here's our reader's letter:

"Hi John and Chief Joseph,

"Thank you for the years of support and truth.

"I would like to know about the purpose of prayer. I have prayed for people and thought that this would keep them protected and secure in the physical, and yet they still get hurt and leave the physical unexpectedly. I know we all leave eventually, but I thought we could pray to protect others from harsh experiences.

"Can you answer this question? What is the role of prayer? Does prayer have an impact on others?

"I remember when John wished he could see the beautiful mountain scenery on a recent drive. He simply wished it and then a cloud appeared and blocked the sun so that he could view the scenery while he was driving.

"I thought prayer worked like this for protecting and healing others. Please enlighten me.

"Thanks,

"Paula"

Here's Chief Joseph.

Chief Joseph

Friends, prayer can be a most powerful force for healing and for creating the lives you long for -- for yourselves and your loved ones.

We wish to address two issues today in regard to prayer.

First, as you might expect, is the attitude of the one doing the praying.

If you are the pray-er, what do you feel as you pray, whether it be for yourselves or others?

In many cases, you're simply beseeching, begging "the Almighty" (whatever that is to you) to grant your wishes. You're often coming from a place of fear and lack. You don't really believe your prayers will be answered.

So, instead of praying and at the same time hoping against hope and envisioning the worst outcome, envision the best outcome. See it, believe it, expect it. Then it will happen. Though not necessarily in the form you want. But in absolutely the best form for the highest and best good of all concerned.

Our second point today is one you've heard us talk about often over the years:

You cannot create in the reality of others. You can influence them, love them. But you cannot create their experience for them. It's impossible.

Let's take a specific example here. Say you have a loved one who's dying of some dis-ease or other. You certainly don't want to see them in pain and suffering. Nor do you want to see them die.

But let's say they do die. Have your prayers been a failure? No, not at all!

You have sent them love and light. You have helped them heal.

Whatever the outcome of their current experience, your prayers have had a powerful effect upon them. It's not up to you to decide, or to even know, what is best for another.

Their experience of severe and even painful life-threatening health challenges may be exactly what they need at the moment.

Their death, even, can be exactly what they need at that moment. Death can be a healing. In fact, it's always a healing because, at the moment of death, you are releasing all your worldly cares and emerging back into the state of perfect oneness with your higher selves.

Death is not the end of you. It is only a new beginning. So if through your prayers you have helped a loved one move on, you have not failed. (Even though death is not what you wanted for them.)

You have succeeded because you have helped them make their transition more easily and effortlessly.

Your prayers are never in vain. All is well.

Attachment

Attachment

In his brilliant best-selling book, Illusions, Richard Bach said "We teach best what we most need to learn." I had a minor, but painful, reminder of this recently.

John Cali

Chief Joseph and I are forever telling people it doesn't matter what other people think or say about you, especially if it's critical or destructive. All that matters is what you think of yourself.

The details of my painful experience don't matter. What does matter is I allowed myself to get upset by a remark about my channelling from someone I love and respect. It threw me into an emotional downward spiral for about half a day.

Then I realized the remark had nothing to do with me. I also realized I had an unhealthy attachment to what this dear person thought of me. Not a good place to be at!

Here's Chief Joseph.

Chief Joseph

We understand how easy it is for humans to become attached to the things of your physical world -- the people, the relationships, the possessions, etc.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying these things, with taking pleasure in them. But it's far too easy to cross over that line between enjoyment and attachment. This creates huge problems for so many of you. And it often throws you into "an emotional downward spiral," in John's words.

We certainly do not advocate you remove yourselves from the world around you. Nor do we want to see you abandon that world, as some of you try to do in your own particular ways.

There is no need to abandon your physical life and all the people and experiences it holds for you. In fact, you cannot abandon physical life -- it's not an option. Unless, of course, you choose to leave your physical bodies.

Friends, life on Planet Earth was intended by your higher selves to be a joyful experience. Certainly not without its challenges and opportunities for growth. But you, as your higher selves, knew there would be those challenges and opportunities -- that's one of the reasons you chose to reincarnate to begin with.

Life is a big game you've chosen to play. It's supposed to be fun. That's what games are all about -- fun!

When you remember that -- when you remember who you are -- then life becomes easy and almost effortless.

Where you often go astray is when you take life so seriously. You just drag your bodies out of bed in the morning, dreading yet another day of joyless living.

It does not have to be that way. You were never meant to be so attached to this life that it drags you down, as John described in his experience.

If you will take the time to reflect on your attachments (which are always unhealthy), you will start to see them clearly. You will realize they are robbing you of your birthright -- joy.

Joy is what it's all about. When you can find your joy within yourselves in every present moment, and know you are your only true source of joy, you will then feel such an incredible sense of relief and release. You will be free again.

Free to enjoy your lives, your relationships, your possessions. Free to enjoy them fully and passionately. But without depending on them for your happiness. Even if you lost them all, you know your true and only source of happiness is within you.

Attachment to the world around you drags you from your happiness, your joy. When you seek happiness within you will empower yourselves to create and live the most joyous, abundant lives you have ever known.
