Parable of the Beautiful House of Light
When you close your doors, and make darkness within, remember never to say that you are alone, for you are not alone. Nay, God is within, and your genius is within. ~ Epictetus, Greek Stoic philosopher
We’re doing something a bit different today. A while back, best-selling author and filmmaker James Twyman wrote a powerful parable. Today, with his permission, we’re sharing it with you.
Many years ago, longer than you can even remember, you bought a beautiful house but covered every window with dark, heavy shades. Not a single beam or splinter of light was able to enter the house and you spent all your time in darkness feeling your way from room to room, making interpretations about what you felt or experienced.
Then one day there is a knock on the door. At first you’re afraid to answer, but something deep inside you tells you that you are safe. You ask the person to enter and just for a moment, as they come into your house, the door opens and the light from outside comes streaming in. Immediately the door is closed again and it’s dark once more, but in that split second you remember the light that surrounds the place where you live.
You can feel the presence of this visitor, but you cannot see them. They speak to you of the world outside the house where everything is filled with the light you experienced just for a second or two when the door was opened. The sound of their voice is enough to challenge you.
You feel a sudden urge to pull the curtains down from the windows. The first curtain falls to the floor and the light comes streaming into the room. Now you can see all the things you interpreted in the darkness. You see the furniture, the pictures on the wall, and the beautiful things on the shelves. When you go from room to room pulling the curtains down, and before long the entire house is filled with light.
Then you look for the visitor who inspired you, and they are nowhere to be found.

In this beautiful video, Entertaining Angels, James Twyman wrote and sang this song to accompany his book, Love, God and the Art of French Cooking. James is a renowned author, musician and filmmaker. He’s also known as The Peace Troubadour for his peacemaking efforts in war zones all over the world.
In the early 1980s, John took a spiritual development course and was introduced to his first spirit guide, Lydia. After Lydia arrived, three other guides also came to him: Archangel Michael, Tamarra, and Chief Joseph. Today these are John’s four main guides.
Besides his four main ones, John has various other guides. The entire group is really a multidimensional collective consciousness. John refers to the entire group simply as “Spirit.” Source
