According to a survey by the Australian company, finder.com, the most common reason people fail to keep new year’s resolutions is setting unrealistic goals. And about 10% of the survey participants said they made too many resolutions.

Sound familiar? I did all that for many years. But no more.

Most new year’s resolutions are focused on changing things about ourselves we don’t like. How about if we turn that around and start appreciating all the things we love about ourselves?

Here are a few words from Spirit.

We would love to see more of you viewing yourselves as we view you.

Your cultures have certainly “brainwashed” you into seeing yourselves in practically every way possible—except for who you truly are.

So we suggest you make your new year’s resolution this year of 2016, and every year for the rest of your time on earth, simply to strive to be who you truly are—your true self.

Who is your true self? Do you even know?

Your true self is that all-powerful, all-knowing, all-wise, all-loving being you were created as. That is how we see you. That is how God sees you—or whatever name you prefer to use for that all-pervasive divine energy. God and we see you as the pure, powerful being of light and love you have always been. And still are.

Your beloved planet now, more than at any other time in human history, needs you to wake up—to become your true self.

What does it mean to become your true self?

You can start with loving yourself unconditionally. And doing whatever it takes to find inner peace. The more peaceful you are within, the more peaceful you will be without, all around you. You all know your planet needs more peacemakers now than she ever has. Be one of those loving peacemakers.

Do not play small. Do not feel unworthy. Do not feel powerless. You are none of that. See yourselves as we see you—big, worthy, and powerful. That is your true self.

Above all, just keep loving yourself—and everyone around you, your planet. And, yes, even the world’s troublemakers.

Love is the most powerful force in the universe. You are love. Claim your power and use it to fulfill all your dreams—and humanity’s eternal dream of peace on earth.

It all starts with loving yourself.
