I always like how, when you go to a service at a Unity church, you get to hear an inspiring sermon and some inspiring music as well.
Every week, I send out an article on spiritual growth but, today, I actually have an inspiring song to pass along to you from one of our community of spiritual growth seekers.
His name is Ed Adamberry. The song is entitled, "I Am Spirit", and here is what Ed had to say about it.
"Some thirty years ago I wrote a song, one of many for I've been writing and working with music for over fifty years now, but this song kind of came to me in a package so to speak.... I didn't sit down to write it, it was already there in the aethers (the words and the music) and all I had to do was listen and then, to the best of my ability, write what I heard, perform it and record it, which I did.
"As I say in the song..... Before the beginning of time, I existed, a thought in the mind of the author of life, I witnessed the birth of the stars that make up the universe.
"Before the beginning of man, I existed. My name was engraved in the palm of the hand of the one who created the world and all of its people.
"I knew that one day I would have to be born, take up a body and think with the mind of a man, but I am a spirit. Yes, I am a spirit and I'm sailing, sailing across the sea of life.
"The song then goes on to explain how I moved in and out of and through all dimensions and how at one point I was lost without a trace but I was found by the light of love that shines much brighter than our sun, and I know the truth about its nature, for light and love are surely one, surely one..... as I am a spirit, etc.
"Now, the strangest thing happened when I was recording the song.
"After the middle section I felt the song needed or wanted to continue but I had no words for it and then, in the studio when that section came up, this strange language came to me. It was as if I had been speaking this language all of my life but didn't know what I was saying.... I recorded the words as they came and they sound absolutely out of this world.... to this day I still don't know what I'm saying and so I call it the language of the angels or tongues of Angels.
"The strangest thing of all was that I was able to harmonize with my own voice and sing counter melodies again in that strange tongue without having to write any of the bits down, not that could've anyway unless I'd done it all phonetically."
That is a FASCINATING story, Ed. I found it most inspiring and the song even more so.
Here it is, posted and ready for you to hear on Youtube:
