Heart Light

Heart Light
My heart is a
talisman.
It is a docent.
It is an gleaming estuary
whose tides
stream
black
holes.
It holds lives
beyond
fathom.
Speaks native
tongues of
nameless
places.
Makes harmonies
of orange rinds,
bat guano and
dandelion
petals.
It counts
backwards
from infinity.
And performs acts
of kindness when
I’m not looking.
It knows
trees by their
echoes and
wing span.
It sees
ultraviolet.
The numinous
in a shaft of
newborn
grass.
It has 66
trillion
arms
that
hold
suns.
My heart
travels time
in the space
between a
spider’s
eyes.
It grows
flowers
when
I sleep.
And captures
in glistening threads
a love made of
meadow and
minnow, of
star and
wind.
It knows
who I
am.
And
finds me
when I’m
lost.
Some days
it is none of
these things.
Some day
it is all.
