- Details

“Discipline yourself to do the things you need to do when you need to do them, and the day will come when you will be able to do the things you want to do when you want to do them!” ~ Zig Ziglar
Life is a process of becoming. We go through life to find ourselves and to become ourselves. The quality of the things we do today and every day will eventually determine the quality of the life we create for ourselves and our children. The time will pass anyway, so you might as well spend it wisely.
Here are 15 things you should start doing today to build the ridiculously amazing life that you deserve to live:
1. Be here with all your might
Be present in everything you do. Know that whenever fear, anxiety, unease and discomfort arises in your body, it’s only because your mind is preoccupied with past or future events.
If you feel your mind drifting, there’s no need to go where the mind goes. Allow your breath to bring you back into the present moment. Close your eyes, take a few deep and cleansing breaths… inhale, exhale and in no time, you will be back into the present moment. You will be here with all your might.
“Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.” ~ John Lennon
2. Trust the wisdom of life
Life was here first. It knows more that you think it does and it surely knows more than you do. The world will not come to an end if you take a few steps back, let go of control and learn to relax a little more. Have faith in the way things are. Doubt less, trust more.
3. Have patience
Learn to live one day at a time. Take one breath at a time, one step at a time. Be fully present in everything you do. Learn to enjoy every step of the journey. Have patience. Trust that the best is yet to come. No need to rush things. No need to push harder and harder every day. No need to move against the natural flow of life. Take one breath at a time, ones step at a time and you will be happy.
“How poor are they that have not patience! What wound did ever heal but by degrees?” ~ William Shakespeare
4. Create a life that feels good on the inside, not one that only looks good on the outside
Don’t be too concerned with what the world’s definition of a successful and happy life is. Craft your life in a way that feels good for you, in a way that brings you real joy and pleasure. Live life your own way. Don’t buy things just for the sake of buying them. Buy things because you want to buy them, because they will simplify, not complicate your life.
“As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness.” ~ Henry David Thoreau
5. Don’t settle for anything less than you’re worth
Dream boldly, act fearlessly. Build your life as if there were no limits to who you could be, do and have. Don’t settle for mediocrity. Don’t settle for anything less than you’re worth. The day will come when your whole life will flash before your eyes, and when that will happen, you will realize that you could’ve done it all, you could’ve achieved it all.
Live life fully. Dream boldly and act fearlessly. Make no room in your life for regrets.
“Do not worry if you have built your castles in the air. They are where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.” ~ Henry David Thoreau
6. Awaken to life
“Once the soul awakens, the search begins and you can never go back. From then on, you are inflamed with a special longing that will never again let you linger in the lowlands of complacency and partial fulfillment. The eternal makes you urgent. You are loath to let compromise or the threat of danger hold you back from striving toward the summit of fulfillment.” ― John O’Donohue,
Look within and you will see things clearly. Look within and you will awaken to life. The world that we see is nothing but dream, a product of our imagination. For those who are aware of this, life becomes a comedy and for those who don’t, life becomes a tragedy.
7. Look within
All the answers that we need are within, not without. We look outside ourselves for many of the things that are meant to bring us happiness, joy and fulfillment, failing to recognize that the greatest treasures of the world won’t be found outside ourselves, but rather within ourselves.
“A man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it.” ~ George Moore
8. Embrace your Self
The relationship you have with your own Self should be the most important relationship in your own life, and you know why? Because only by embracing who you are fully, and only by giving the best to your Self will you be able to do the same for those you love.
When you fly on an airplane, the flight attendant instructs you to put your oxygen mask on first, before helping others for a very good reason. You can’t save anyone if you yourself are running out of air. Love your Self, accept your Self and be good to your Self. Nurture the relationship you have with your Self to make it stronger.
“To love yourself right now, just as you are, is to give yourself heaven. Don’t wait until you die. If you wait, you die now. If you love, you live now.” ~ Alan Cohen
9. Honor your true feelings
Don’t ever betray what you know in your heart to be true for you. Don’t ever betray your own feelings just so you can please other people. Be honest with yourself at all times. Learn to listen to the messages that your heart is sending your way. Honor your true feelings. If you feel scared, anxious, worried or even depressed, take time to identify the real reasons behind your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Be good to yourself and learn to change what needs to be changed and heal what needs to be healed.
10. By letting go it all gets done
Learn to laugh in the face of chaos. Stress less, live more. Detach from all the drama that your mind is constantly trying to create. Let go of all the to toxic thoughts, things, people and past experiences that are holding you back in life. Let go and be happy.
“By letting it go it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try. The world is beyond the winning.” ~ Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
11. Surrender to what is
Learn to be soft like water. Let go of fixed plans and concepts. Allow events to follow their natural course. Don’t fight life, don’t resist it. Surrender to what is. Accept whatever comes your way witch grace and appreciation. Trust the wisdom of life.
“Acceptance of one’s life has nothing to do with resignation; it does not mean running away from the struggle. On the contrary, it means accepting it as it comes, with all the handicaps of heredity, of suffering, of psychological complexes and injustices.” ~ Paul Tournier
12. Free your mind from hatred
Forgiveness is such a powerful thing, for it can heal your heart, making room for love to enter, allowing you to reconnect with your loving soul and lovable Self, allowing you to go back to your real and authentic Self. It helps you to re-connect with those you love at a deeper level. Forgive, release and let go. Allow love to govern your mind, your heart and your life. Allow peace to come to surface once again. Fill your heart with love and grace. Let go of bitterness and resentment but never of love and forgiveness.
“Forgiveness is the economy of the heart… forgiveness saves the expense of anger, the cost of hatred, the waste of spirits.” ~ Hannah More
13. Love with all your might
You are made of love and made to love. Find that place inside of you where love feels at home and thoughts of fear do not exist. Let your mind, body, heart and soul be showered with love. Allow love to touch all areas of your life. Leave the door to your heart open. Tear down any walls you might have built between you and the world around you, and let love flow in and out of your life.
“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” ~ Rumi
14. Stay humble
Humility is the path to greatness. It’s the key to a peaceful and honorable life. A humble heart is a noble heart and those who make humility part of their daily lives are able to connect with themselves and the world around them at a very deep and meaningful level.
“All streams flow to the sea because it is lower than they are. Humility gives it its power. If you want to govern the people, you must place yourself below them. If you want to lead the people, you must learn how to follow them. The Master is above the people, and no one feels oppressed. She goes ahead of the people, and no one feels manipulated. The whole world is grateful to her. Because she competes with no one, no one can compete with her.” ~ Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
15. Enjoy the little things in life
Spend time with those you love. Give your children more of your time and less of your money. Give your partner more of your presence and less of your absence. Walk barefoot on the grass from time to time. Go outside at night and wonder at the immensity of space, at the glory of you. Grab a friend and jump into the pool with your clothes on. Laugh until your belly hurts and then laugh some more. Appreciate the beauty that surounds you – the trees, the birds, the morning breeze and the wonderful sunsets. Enjoy and appreciate these little things because one day you will look back and realize that they were in fact the big things.
“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” Robert Brault
