The emphasis - I won’t say ‘focus’ - this weekend is on the Sun’s square to Neptune and Venus’ move from Taurus into Gemini. The first can incite us to make mountains out of molehills (especially with the Moon in particularizing Virgo), while the second encourages a Lite approach to things.
Venus in Gemini suggests casual gatherings of friends, rooftop bars and backyard barbecues. Meeting folks at the PTA or block party. Having a coffee together at the local cafe. In the coming weeks, before Venus dives into the waters of Cancer on July 3rd, we’ll have plenty of time for such light and airy activities.
This weekend, though, we’re likely to have challenges keeping things casual, especially in relationships. The Sun and Neptune are both in dual signs, and can have us ‘of two minds’ about things. We can spin fantasies and delusions, and make gods and demons out of ordinary folks. With Mars and Mercury out-of-bounds in Cancer, the potential for emotional reactivity is high.
But there’s a more subtle astrological event that is likely to rattle some relationships, especially those that are well established. Juno, the asteroid of partnership, is also in protective Cancer, and opposing Pluto in Capricorn. This aspect won’t have much effect if everything is going well and the relationship is on an even keel, but those in a more vulnerable place could really be rocked as Juno and Pluto vie for power.
Additionally, Vesta is at the very last degree of Aries. While Vesta is most closely associated with Virgo (as in Vestal Virgins), there’s an undercurrent of powerful sexuality in this asteroid, and that’s sure to be accentuated at the last degree of Mars’ home sign.
Subtle tensions, high energy, and a tendency to exaggerate things will make for a weekend that will feel very good, or very bad. Try as Venus and the Moon might to maintain a little lightness and restraint, moderation doesn’t seem like much of an option.
