An Evolutionary Quickening Begins!

Which means that Saturn is preparing to go retrograde in a hundred days. Lots of “rising to the occasion” on the way to achieving skills in demonstrating spiritual power!

A brief recap of some key factors we discussed yesterday: The shadow zone is defined by the span between where a planet goes retrograde and where it goes direct after the retrograde period. In this case, Saturn goes retrograde at 26 Aquarius on June 4. It will retrograde back to 19 Aquarius (its current degree), where it goes stationary direct on October 22/23.

That puts the shadow zone between 19 and 26 Aquarius, and Saturn now occupies 19 Aquarius. So this year Saturn takes us to the initial degree by which we can manage a greater individual, mental, and spiritual expression of power at 26 Aquarius, and then returns through the span, ending up at 19 Aquarius, a technique of managed action. Both degrees are in the Span of Perspective and Scene of Management, encompassing the actional/physical, emotional/social, and individual/spiritual levels of Aquarius.

The theme of 19 Aquarius is a technique of rising to some occasion in an managed action to bring “an exaggerated life problem” under control so we may reveal (our true stature” and expands us. 20 Aquarius is where we get a clear sign or blessing from spirit. The emotional/social begins at 21 Aquarius where we turn disappointment into strength and resilience, leading to a greater self-knowing, gratitude and appreciation for basic opportunities at 22 Aquarius.

We begin training our vehicle to use cosmic power or achieve a new level of performance at 23 Aquarius, which gives us a technique so we can use our experience to teach wisdom in a dispassionate way at 24 Aquarius. 25 Aquarius fulfills that section of experience, showing us the way to detach from our reflexive responses and be more volitional in how we express our power. Saturn then winds up at 26 Aquarius, where we demonstrate our self-control in wielding an expression of spiritual power.

The big news of course are that these powerful Aquarian themes were originally opened up by Jupiter in 2021, with a special focus on 23 Aquarius, the degree where it went stationary direct in October 2021. That means during Saturn’s three transits of this degree in 2022 we’ll get a newly crystallized form of that Jupiterian teaching or promise.

Saturn direct helps us express mature responses to our world; Saturn retrograde gives us a different understanding, or a different angle of approach. Saturn in its first pass through the shadow zone gives us our first exposure to those lessons; Saturn RX can bring us echoes of old duties and responsibilities in new forms, or the return of attitudes of accepting “the wage of age.” Because it’s in the sector of the zodiac where we’re learning how to manage our expression in our emergent Aquarian cooperative group vision, the rest of this year will help us reorganize our methods of managing our ego and life so we can achieve our higher goals. Last year we got a shortcut to seeing a potential greater contribution fulfilling our purpose,and wound up at a point of a new Cosmic inspiration and the emergence of things outside of any local or past tradition. This year we are all in a practicum of using spiritual energy wisely.

The Saturnine understanding you receive over the next 3+ months will be clarified after the Sun opposes Saturn and then Saturn’s SRX degree in the third week of August. That should help us understand what is expected of us in some public way after that. As Saturn is in a semisquare with Jupiter from July through id-October and in a square with Uranus from July through early December, expect a dynamic and fairly tense atmosphere during Saturn’s retrograde period!

The Jupiter semisquare Saturn will help us make sure our values are serving our ambitions. Some will confront discouraging attitudes of low aim which are a challenge to improve our view of what is possible, not allowing pessimism or unnecessary rules and stipulations to dampen our sense of the promise of Jupiter in Aries. And Saturn square Uranus puts our focus back on what’s pertinent while letting go of nonessentials or distractive influences. More heart, more courage, more focus, with an eye to steering the magnetism in constructive ways.
