Your Guide to Planetary Influences for February 5 to 11, 2018

astro_report

WE ARE WALKING that uncertain terrain spanning the two weeks between the Lunar and Solar Eclipses. Old patterns have been reawakened and, for some, issues that were quietly brewing have been heated to their boiling point. For others, unexpected events have occurred, requiring new methods of responding to provocation.

We are becoming powerfully aware of the internal and external changes that are needed to bring us more fully into the light, and increasingly conscious of when we slip into density and darkness. The universe is now awaiting both our commitment regarding what we are ready to release and our greater clarity of intention for the future.

THERE'S OFTEN a sense of "waiting for the other shoe to drop" in the two weeks between eclipses. Crises related to these celestial events can occur anytime within the "eclipse season" starting two to four weeks before the first eclipse and extending at least that long after the second. The influence of an eclipse pair also radiates out into the six months that follow, strongly affecting events until the next set of eclipses occurs.

Nevertheless, it is common for us to feel the most pressure right around the dates the eclipses occur. And so we may get glimpses of that other shoe this week, especially on Wednesday when Luna enters her Last Quarter phase (at 7:53 a.m. PST / 3:53 p.m. GMT). Over the subsequent four days, until the Balsamic Moon phase begins on Sunday, we should have some good indicators of the direction things are headed.

NOW THAT MERCURY is in Aquarius, we also want to watch that planet's movement, since it will cross over the degree of the Lunar Eclipse this week. As it does, it takes the position that the Sun held at the time of the lunation, forming many of the same aspects and therefore reactivating eclipse issues.

The crucial difference is that with Mercury now engaged with the eclipse energies, we can expect increased information downloads, surprising or erratic communications, and progressive ideas mixed in with complicated nonsense. We may also see more issues involving truth, transport, and travel.

This influence is in effect throughout the work week, with particular emphasis on Tuesday (Mercury opposite Ceres), Wednesday (Mercury conjunct eclipse point), and Friday (Mercury conjunct South Node).

JUPITER plays a confrontational role this week, forming square aspects on Monday and Saturday. The Jupiter-Juno square that begins our week deepens the divide in intimate relationships and other partnerships. In mythology, Jupiter and Juno were husband and wife and had a very contentious marriage, plagued by suspicions, jealousies, and betrayals. With the planet Jupiter in Scorpio demanding honesty and intimacy, and the asteroid Juno in Aquarius insisting on personal rights and freedom, it's easy to see how it might be hard to find common ground.

The Sun-Jupiter square on Saturday again magnifies the differences between Aquarius and Scorpio, and puts pressure on us to find ways to satisfy both our need for emotional depth and our desire for intellectual independence. It is helpful to remember that Jupiter does tend to make issues larger than life, and that Scorpio is one of the more reactive signs -- so although the issues that arise are no doubt important to address, we also might want to wait a couple of days until the emotional floods have receded to assess damage and see what repairs are needed.

VENUS changes signs on Saturday, beginning the exodus of several planets from Aquarius to Pisces that occurs this month. Right now, the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Juno are all in Aquarius, working with the South Node to draw our attention to the shadow side of the sign -- the tendency to stand back rather than participate, the never-satisfied need for more information before taking action, an avoidance of emotionally complex issues, and a propensity for too much detachment.

Perhaps we've been wondering about the apparent lack of public and political response to certain issues that would normally have excited at least some debate. Is this the South Node at work, showing us the pervasiveness of what astrologer Steven Forrest calls "Aquariosis"?

The movement of planets into heart-centered Pisces may help us start to shift some of these symptoms. By February 23, all the aforementioned planets/asteroids will have joined Neptune and Chiron the twelfth sign, making a total of six planetary objects in compassionate Pisces. That should help some -- although we will still be dealing with the remnants of "Aquariosis" until the Nodes change signs in early November.

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: This year, you are challenged to deepen your involvement in life, while also maintaining your positive Aquarian traits of idealism, openmindedness, and progressive thinking. You may feel emotions more powerfully than usual, and be drawn to express them with passion and conviction. Allow this other aspect of your being to emerge without judging it, while also utilizing your natural objectivity to know what issues are worth fighting for and which might serve to distract you from the essence and form of your greater cause.

In peace,

Pam
