Sabian Symbols Showing the Light of Longing For An Adventure Expressed Through Social-Emotional Discipline and Acceptance.
This coming Full Moon is the twentieth since the December 2020 Solstice conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at 1 Aquarius which launched new 20 and 200 year eras. This one helps us integrate emotionally by surrendering what needs surrendering so we can embrace a greater life adventure.
I’ll speak more about the bigger picture after the Sabian Symbol. For now, let’s take a closer look at this activating, integrating, visionary and purifying Lunation which will show us how to be more purposeful, self-reliant, and in touch with our primal innocence which can lead us to knowing “the right thing to do” regardless of outer distractions. This will help free our spontaneity as a result of how well we “purify our minds.”
As the Full Moon fulfills the themes of the previous New Moon, we can use the power of seeing the unfolding beauty of our process in becoming a new ideal in our world these past two weeks and by seeing how we’ve been educated, fulfill that potential in some form of abundance, or an abundant view of things. We can now “see the Light” of how our anticipations and expectations shape what comes to us in the future, and release the unhelpful perceptions and interpretations.
The Sun in Water and the Moon in Earth shows a time of the Cardinal Water (initiating personal experience and sensitivity) of Cancer expressing its mobilized self-interest through the Cardinal Earth (initiating practical personal power) of Capricorn. This chart continues a run of Full Moon themes of getting clear on the emotional and social levels of our existence.
In this chart, 2 planets are in the first third of their signs, 2 planets are in the second third of their signs, and SIX planets are in the last third of their signs. This indicates a heavy emphasis on the individual, mental, and spiritual levels of life, with a balance between the emotional and social and actional-material levels of life. This will be an extraordinarily spiritual focus for two weeks!
Why Are Full Moons So Important?
At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.
That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. We now begin a time of the year when the inner planets will make oppositions to Pluto, Saturn, Neptune, Jupiter, and Uranus over the next 4 months. This is the first chart in a long while to have more than one opposition created by the Lunation.
In this chart, due to a complex formation, we have FOUR oppositions operating to create one axis of “the Tension of Opposites.” We have the Moon conjunct Pluto, with both opposed Mercury conjunct the Sun generating awareness encompassing the entire last half of Cancer/Capricorn, making these planets the drivers of our “awareness generator” for the coming two weeks.
Because we have Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto all at the end of their signs, every Full Moon opposition in the last decan of their signs has made special evolutionary configurations with these spiritual heavyweight planets. This year alone we’ve had Full Moons at 28 Cancer/Capricorn, 28 Leo/Aquarius, 28 Virgo/Pisces, 27 Libra/Aries, 26 Scorpio/Taurus, and 24 Sagittarius/Gemini. The run will end in August at 20 Aquarius/Leo.
All of these created configurations with Neptune and Pluto in 2022. Jupiter conjuncted Neptune from the March Equinox through the second week of May, so it too figured into the Full Moon configurations in those months, and when Saturn entered the last decan of Aquarius in early March, it too created configurations with each successive Full Moon since then, and will remain in play through the August Full Moon since it configures in the “Axis of Awareness.”
Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?
The Sun is in Cancer, making the Moon its ruler, and the Moon is in Capricorn, making Saturn in its home sign of Aquarius its ruler. Mercury is in Cancer, making Saturn its final ruler, Venus in Gemini is ruled by Mercury, making Saturn her final ruler as well. Mars in Taurus is ruled by Venus and Jupiter in Aries is ruled by Mars, making Saturn the ruler of all the visible planets.
Moving out, Uranus in Taurus and Pluto in Capricorn are also ruled by Saturn. As usual, Neptune is a “standalone” planet, ruling itself. We now have moved from having FIVE “final dispositors” in the sky and are back to only two final dispositors ruling all the planets.
By looking at how “chains of dispositors,” “final dispositors,” and “mutual reception” are in play between the planets, we get a clear picture of the backdrop for how each planet operates. You can find out more about dispositors in general, chains of dispositors, and mutual reception by going to Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?
The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames
Venus is a strong force for stabilized mental and associative power in this chart through its trine to Saturn, opening an expiating energy which will help us see “life and death processes” with the eyes of social or emotional wisdom. This is a “friendly” position for Venus, favoring healthy relationships through understanding our common feeling experiences.
At this time, Venus can take the wisdom harmonized with Saturn and express it through Neptune’s larger “feeling field,” yielding a sense of power to be used in a future dedication as well as knowledge of what must be done well with an eye to the larger mystery ritual of life. It is now an exceptionally favorable adaptive influence to all planets we have between 23-28 degrees of any sign.
If you want to focus your ability to attract better friends and relations in the future, please consider getting your copy of my new book The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames. It is the most comprehensive book on Venus ever written, and explains why we attract who we do and how to create more satisfying relationships in the future. You will understand the foundations of long term healthy relationships and friendships, why Soul Mates come into our lives, and how to know the difference between a Soul Mate and our Twin Flame. Even if you’re not looking for a partner, this book will explain why certain people with certain traits came into your life and what they taught you about yourself.
It has chapters on the qualities of each sign’s natural mate, the qualities of Venus in each sign, and when crucial choices and changes are made, affecting who we attract in the future. It was written for both astrologers and lay people, and as it has a thousand gems for better relationships, with self, others, and Source, please consider getting your copy by going to the link above! (And when you’re done, please leave a review on Amazon, since it helps the book and all other books on astrology as well!)
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon
This Full Moon falls at 22 Cancer and 22 Capricorn. It is said that the last third (decan) of any sign deals with the individual, mental, and spiritual levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the third decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Pisces and Virgo.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.
The Solar Sabian symbol for the 22nd degree of Cancer is “A woman awaiting a sailboat.” In the original Jones class notes published in The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this is a degree of “a longing to live life as a great adventure” and “the compelling power of all sustained desire and of the dreaming of dreams.”
In The Astrological Mandala, he goes on to say that this degree symbolizes “the longing for transcendent happiness in the soul opened to great dreams.” He say this is where an “imaginative youthful person” isn’t “satisfied with what his or her ordinary social environment offers,” and who longs for something unknown. He explains this will manifest a concretized “spiritual image” which we have dreamed of coming forth from “the unconscious beyond.”
He offers that the spiritual image we yearn for may come in “the silence of the inner sea of consciousness” rather than in an external form. As a final question he asks “Will the expectancy of the Eternal Feminine be rewarded with reality? He says this degree falls in the Span of Ingenuousness, the Act of Stabilization, and Scene of Consolidation on the Emotional-Social level.
Dr. Jones says this is a degree of “the creative poise and quiet range of perspective which give real power to the human soul, endowing it with its gift for sustained interest” in current situations and “its constructive attitude” toward the potential of things. He speaks of us “exalting our destiny as we become aware of rewards which come to us, and learn “that it is through the consummation of idea and not the pyramiding of facts that life achieve its more enduring reality.”
He offers us the keyword EQUANIMITY. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is “a sure insight into the meaning of chance events and the current drift of circumstance.”
The Lunar Sabian Symbol for the 22nd degree of Capricorn is "A general accepting defeat gracefully.” In the original notes from the Marc Jones class on the symbols published in The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this degree is one of “apparent defeat that spells real spiritual victory,” “Bowing to custom,” and “Conquest through conformity to established norm.”
In his Astrological Mandala, he offers that this degree involves "the realization that one may grow through defeat as well as, and perhaps more than, through success.” He states this is about our ability to turn “apparent external defeat into an inner spiritual achievement,” and says it falls in the span of Dependence, and it's the second degree of the emotional-cultural level of the scene of Group Performance in the Act of Capitalization.
According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, the degree is one of “the immediate opportunism by which the human will develops its real power, and of its underlying and uncompromising loyalty to the long-range ends in view.” This is about effective practicality expressing “grace of spirit,” and how we “exalt our destiny as (we) find its roots established in values” that we and others can accept.
He offers us the keyword of EXPEDIENCY. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is "a genius for learning from experience and transforming setback into accomplishment.”
From these symbols it seems we can see the Light of anticipating a great life adventure express through our ability to turn defeat into victory, and setback into accomplishment. This is the light of perspective, soul power, and a constructive attitude which gives insight into the flow of things expressed in the spiritual will and inner integrity that brings forth inner strength despite apparent failures, and turns apparent defeats into spiritual victories.
So for the next 2 weeks, the Moon will help us a) look back at past apparent defeats that became spiritual victories; b) look back with new eyes at recent apparent defeats to see how to turn the experience into a “spiritual victory;” or c) we can see how to yield now and in the future to achieve a future spiritual victory. As this was the stationary retrograde symbol for Pluto in April 2018, we may get insights about what we’ve surrendered since then which has allowed a new anticipation to come forth. This is the Light of Self-gathering expressing through the Form of transcendence!
As with the last several Full Moons, important transformations helping us see a deeper Mystery are evoked by this Lunation. This helps us externalize new discoveries using balanced perspective, seeing through what’s transitory and understand Nature’s “life and death processes.” See what to cut back, what to re-shape, what to purify, and concentrate to see the whole picture.
We’re in an Era of Overlapping Capricorn and Aquarius Cycles
As you know by now, we had numerous important long wave conjunctions in January 2020 which were set into motion in March 2020, including a 12 year cycle and a 33 year cycle! Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all made conjunctions in Capricorn in January and March 2020 which were activated by Mars in March 2020. Mars completed its run at its conjunction with Saturn at 1 Aquarius which also set long wave preliminary Aquarian structures into play which are expanding and currently taking shape.
That “Great Compression” of planets in early 2020 created a very crowded house in a very narrow span of degrees, impacting where we have late Capricorn for many years to come. Add the three conjunctions of Jupiter with Pluto as it transited back and forth over the January and March degree points, and we’ve had a lot of long wave Pluto energies expanded which will show effects over the next decade! If you’re wondering how this Great Compression and those to come will impact us, please check out the linked articles on the bottom of Part 1 of this series published yesterday.
The wave that began April 2020 and was given wings in December has taken clearer shape during the time Saturn occupied 7-14 Aquarius in 2021. During early 2021, Jupiter gave us an expansive view of all of Aquarius, and then passed through the Transfiguration Zone in late April and early May, again in early August when retrograde, and a final time in December, giving us three different experiences of “graduation into a new realm of Being” transforming our lives so we can see how we are related to other Light Beings in the collective field. We now get to enter a new promise of how we fit into the whole.
TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption
I’ve included this section for many years to keep you all aware of the workings of Divine Mother on our Earth in this Age in Transition. Rather than simply reprint it each month, I created this material as a separate article unto itself a while back which I’ve just updated. If you want to know more about the vast spiritual field coaxing us toward a great redemption of the promise of Life itself, please take a new look at TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Spiritual Lessons of 2022. We have now entered a long period of getting over our prejudices and preconceptions, and approaching others from an angle of “the fellowship of humanity.” At this time, many are discovering inner powers, as well as “Divine Help when human efforts seem to fail.”
At the 2020 World Teacher Full Moon of Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius I gave you a universal prayer/meditation offered to us by the Tibetan Master D.K. in April 1945 at the end of the war. Tens of millions around the world do this prayer every Full Moon, tuning into the Whole which we ALL are together. I said it every day for many years, and still say it every Full Moon. (It was a real trip to see eyes suddenly open and/or lightbulbs go on over people’s heads when I did it countless times riding the NYC subways when I lived there in the early 80s!)
In 1976 I changed a few words to make it more universal. For your consideration,
The Great Invocation
From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of All,
Let Light descend on Earth
From the point of Love within the heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of All
May Christ return to Earth
From the center where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little Wills of All
The Purpose which the Masters know and serve
From the center which we call the Human Race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Again, as I’ve offered you many times before, when you see the title "The Christ" if you are so inclined please substitute "World Teacher," "Bodhisattva," "Imam Madhi," "Krishna," “Kristos,” "Avalokiteshvara," "Maitreya," "Messiah," or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And if you substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” I doubt it would offend anyone.
See you soon with part 3 covering aspects, planetary sequencing, and other important factors in this Full Moon.
