- Sabian Symbols Showing the Light of “Seeing Whole”
Expressed As A Return to Inspiration -
This Full Moon is the thirteenth one since the Grand Mutation waveform was activated at the end of March 2020, and the fourth since the Solstice conjunction launched a new long term era. We’re headed into the future!
This is said to be the “First High Moon” of the Northern Hemispheric Spring. The “High Moons” are the first three Full Moons with the Sun in Aries, Taurus, and Gemini each year, where life renews itself and a global wisdom is poured out to humanity at the Wesak and World Teacher festivals. I’ll publish an article on these High Moons in the future.
As I offered yesterday, we had several extraordinarily important long wave conjunctions in January 2020 which were set into motion in March 2020. All the conjunction points made by Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto in January and March were activated by Mars in March 2020, and its conjunction with Saturn at 1 Aquarius set long wave structures into play which are expanding and currently taking shape.
That “Great Compression” of planets in early 2020 created a very crowded house in a very narrow span of degrees, impacting the houses where we have late Capricorn for many years to come. Add the three conjunctions of Jupiter with Pluto as it transited back and forth over the January and March degree points, and we’ve had a lot of long wave Pluto energies tremendously expanded which will show effects over the next decade! If you’re wondering how this Great Compression and those to come will impact us, please check out the linked articles on the bottom of Part 1 of this series published previously.
As the Full Moon fulfills the themes of the previous New Moon, we now can use the clarity we’ve found the past two weeks and see the bigger picture in our lives and social transformation process. This one gives us new light on our social and emotional responses which can lead us back to an identification with all which inspires us from the past.
Saturn continues to be incredibly powerful as it moves into Aquarius and now shows us we’re now launching a great vision! Make the abstract concrete, and allow the symbolic to take life in actual forms. It now is giving structure and substance to the themes of the third 5 degrees of Aquarius, further solidifying the new Aquarian patterns of the coming era.
The wave that began last April and was given wings in December will take clearer shape as Saturn moves across the first half of Aquarius this year. Last year we were “galvanized into action” and “liberated from adverse conditions.” This year Jupiter is giving us an expansive view of all of Aquarius between January and mid-May, with a review in August and September before we take a third look at the last part of Aquarius before Jupiter races through Pisces in 2022.
The Sun in Fire and the Moon in Air shows a time of the Cardinal Fire (activating inspiration) of Aries expressing its initiating Light through the Cardinal Air (activating relatedness and associations) of Libra. This continues previous Full Moon themes of learning techniques on the emotional, social, and cultural level. This opposition will help us concentrate on “seeing whole” so we may re-identify with that which inspires us.
In this chart, 4 planets are in the first third of their signs, 3 planets are in the second third of their signs, and 3 planets are in the last third of their signs. This indicates a slight emphasis on the actional-material levels of life and a balance between the social/emotional levels and individual, mental, and spiritual levels.
Why Are Full Moons So Important?
At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.
That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. We’re now in a period of many months of no transit to transit oppositions other than those made by the Moon, until the next run begins when Mars opposes Pluto in June 2021. That means the evolutionary “Tension of Opposites” in this Lunation involves 7-11 Aries and Libra, which gives us a narrow focused field of awareness involving Moon, Sun, and Venus as they are the planets in opposition.
Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?
The Sun is in Aries, making Mars in Gemini its worldly ruler and Pluto in Capricorn its spiritual ruler. The Moon in Libra has Venus in Aries as its worldly ruler and TransPluto in Virgo as its spiritual ruler. As Mars rules both the Sun and the Lunar dispositor, and Mars is ruled by Mercury which is ruled by Jupiter which is ruled by Saturn, it makes Mars the obvious “power behind the scenes,” while Saturn becomes the ultimate “power behind the scenes” in this Lunation.
This Eclipse has only 2 “final dispositors” ruling all the other planets. The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, and Pluto are all ruled by Saturn in Aquarius; Neptune, as usual, is a “standalone” planet, ruling itself. That means the rulerships continue to be dominated by Saturn this month. A final dispositor is a planet in one of its “home signs,” or the signs it rules.
By looking at how “chains of dispositors,” “final dispositors,” and “mutual reception” are in play between the planets, we get a clear picture of the backdrop for how each planet operates. You can find out more about dispositors in general, chains of dispositors, and mutual reception by going to Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon
This Full Moon falls at 9 Aries and 9 Libra. It is said that the first third (decan) of any sign deals with the actional, material, and physical levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the first decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Aries and Libra.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.
The Solar Sabian symbol for the 9th degree of Aries is "A crystal gazer.” In the original notes from the Marc Jones class on the symbols published in The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this degree is one of “direction from within,” “taking advantage of all factors in a given situation, and knowing when to make decisions,” and “assurance.”
In The Astrological Mandala, he offers that this degree is about “the development of an inner realization or organic wholeness.” This represents our ability to see images which allow us to interpret “the situation as a whole,” where “the nascent mental faculties operating through still dominant emotions (or collective cultural incentives) act as a centralizing and whole-making power.”
He continues “what the intelligence perceives in its concentration is the function of every inner impulse and outer events in the open field of a ‘personality’ still unclouded by egoism,” which is a “new technique required for the development of individualized consciousness is revealed” to be “concentrated attention.” He states this degree falls in the Span of Realization, Act of Differentiation, and Scene of Desire on the Emotional-Cultural level.
Dr. Jones offers that this is a degree of the “capacity for bringing an entire universe within the purview of (our) mind,” where there are “higher faculties of human understanding, but as no more than the illimitable possibilities of personal experience in the realms of potentiality.” He offers that “the world and the individual (are) irrevocably in partnership, each reflecting the other and thereby providing a foreview of every possible mood or situation.”
He offers us the keyword ACUTENESS. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree “is consummate insight in planning the course of events or organizing them in the light of immediate convenience.”
So the Light of the next two weeks involves forms of techniques of higher understanding of how we and our world are in a partnership which allows us foresight in terms of the potential of each moment. If we find the right “whole view,” we can anticipate how and when to act, and know how to organize our plan so it is to our convenience.
The Lunar degree symbol for the 9th degree of Libra is “Three old masters hanging in an art gallery.” According to Rudhyar’s notes from the Marc Jones class, this degree is one of “Efficient cohesion of the three ‘souls’ of man; of mind, feeling and instinct,” “integrated wisdom,” and “sagacious behavior.”
In The Astrological Mandala, he says this degree offers us a technique of "the need to return to source during a confused search for new value in a chaotic society.” He speaks about the need to “re-ground ourselves in the great achievement of the past. The number 3 suggest completeness; esoteric traditions speak of the three-fold Soul, or of three fundamental ‘Rays’ – of Power, of Love-Wisdom, and of Intelligence-In-Action,” and he goes on to say that our mediations give us a chance to “return to Source” and get a stronger connection with our “archetypal essence of being.”
He states this degree is about “the finer forms of one’s culture provide the means to do this. The great moments of the collective past become an inspiration for new, yet sound, beginnings.” He gives it the keywords “apostolic succession,” and says this degree falls in the Span of Expectation, Act of Group Integration, and is the technique degree of the Scene of Transfiguration on the Social-Cultural level.
Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, says this is a degree of our “capacity for embracing a universal reality” in our experience, showing the “effective alignment” of our means of self-expression which further our potential. He states “implicit is the concept of the past and the present as irrevocably in partnership,” with our heritage giving us “the foundation for the achievement (we) desire.”
He offers us the keyword ACCORD. He states that when operating positively, the degree is a “gift for bringing people and events together in high appreciation of the greater values of life.”
From these symbols it seems the next two weeks we’ll see the Light of “seeing whole” expressed through forms of new alignments which “further our potential.” This is the Light of a new social or emotional awareness expressed through some form of “rebeginning” where we align ourselves with the finest examples of culture we value. The Sun is the Light of exhibiting our larger awareness, and the Moon allows us to craft the forms of that awareness in ways appropriate to what we value spiritually.
TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption
I’ve included this section for many years to keep you all aware of the workings of Divine Mother on our Earth in this Age in Transition. Rather than simply reprint it each month, I created this material as a separate article unto itself a while back which I’ll be updating very soon. If you want to know more about the vast spiritual field coaxing us toward a great redemption of the promise of Life itself, please take a new look at TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Spiritual Lessons of 2021. We have now entered a long period of getting over our prejudices and preconceptions, and approaching others from an angle of “the fellowship of humanity.”
At the 2020 World Teacher Full Moon of Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius I gave you a universal prayer/meditation offered to us by the Tibetan Master D.K. in April 1945 at the end of the war. Tens of millions around the world do this prayer every Full Moon, tuning into the Whole which we ALL are together. I said it every day for many years, and still say it every Full Moon. (It was a real trip to see eyes suddenly open and/or lightbulbs go on over people’s heads when I did it countless times riding the NYC subways when I lived there in the early 80s!)
In 1976 I changed a few words to make it more universal. For your consideration,
The Great Invocation
From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of All,
Let Light descend on Earth
From the point of Love within the heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of All
May Christ return to Earth
From the center where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little Wills of All
The Purpose which the Masters know and serve
From the center which we call the Human Race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Again, as I’ve offered you many times before, when you see the title "The Christ" if you are so inclined please substitute "World Teacher," "Bodhisattva," "Imam Madhi," "Krishna," “Kristos,” "Avalokiteshvara," "Maitreya," "Messiah," or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And if you substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” I doubt it would offend anyone.
See you soon with part 3 covering aspects, planetary sequencing, and other important factors in this Full Moon.
