We hope this little weekly blog will inspire all of us to think, feel, and transform in bigger ways together. May it unite us by collectively magnifying our personal intentions into a potent resource of positive energy, that will spread into our communities and beyond.

We are so excited here at Sage Goddess about all the magic on its way to you! We have celebrations coming up that you can attend no matter where you live.

Astrology – Cosmic Intentions

December brings a Full Moon in Gemini on December 3rd. Gemini is the sign of communication –  it loves to learn, experience,  understand, and make sense of everything. Keeping an open mind is highly encouraged, as Gemini holds a mirror to every aspect of ourselves, helping us see from different points of view, and to embrace duality and paradox. What is working and what isn’t? Infused with the chatty and inquisitive energy of Gemini, this Full Moon is especially important in bringing new information to the surface. If you’re in a partnership, this may be a fine time to inspect your relationship and open up those lines of communication. It’s the time to let everything out – especially with Venus in Sagittarius – encouraging honest and open communication.

Mercury goes retrograde in the last degree of Sagittarius on December 2nd, 11:34 pm Pacific Time (this retrograde lasts until December 22nd). Mercury is the planet that rules communication, so when it goes ‘retrograde’ or reverses its forward movement around the Sun, we feel it in the form of delays, hassles, and misunderstandings. Mercury Retrograde is a cosmic do-over. In the sign of Sagittarius, the potential to rework, revisit, and recover our personal truth, sense of natural law, and beliefs is great. This is the time to regain confidence in your inner truth and the meaning of life, and to stand strong in your intuition. If you want to try again – at a relationship, a project, an idea, a conversation – you get a second chance with Mercury who stops, backs up, and gives you another shot.

The holidays are the perfect time to harness the energies of this retrograde when it comes to picking out gifts with intention. With Sagittarian energy, we are able to give meaningful and exciting gifts to those we love – deepening our relationships with our families, loved ones, or new partners.

weekly tarot blog post the moon

Weekly Tarot

The Moon Tarot card comes forward today, for all of us, representing illusion. The Moon  is a card of deep imagination, creativity, and vision. In the illuminated darkness of the night, we must come face to face with our deepest emotions. First on this card, we see the crescent moon in all her glory, shining brightly on what seems to be unrest below. This is a representation of the human imagination, while also carrying intellectual symbolism in that it represents what is known in the conscious mind.  The road leading out into the distance, between the two towers, represents the unknown and deeper subconscious.

Luna observes all with calm knowing. We see two beasts, one wolf and one dog, which represent the fears of the mind and are often created from imagined threats. These beasts represent our own inherent animal nature. Then, notice the crustacean crawling up out of the deep to symbolize the deepest, darkest shadows, the nameless and extreme tendencies which we all repress. It appears to try and take form, often as the ego, and to manifest itself as it too seeks a connection with the moon. The crustacean serves as the reminder that even on the spiritual path, the ego and the darkest aspects of shadow have something to offer.

The Moon is truly a card of perception, which will show us very quickly how we see the world. Since the ruling sign of The Moon Tarot card is the Pisces, it represents our ability to hide behind our imagination as an escape from reality. When The Moon Tarot card comes forward, we are encouraged to do inner work and confront the darkest parts of ourselves in order to move forward. This is a time to deepen our relationships with others, walk through the forest of imagination and creativity, confront our inner thoughts and wishes, and surrender to  the path that is illuminated by our own magic. But first, we must do so with stable emotions, to avoid the illusions an inconstant moon can bring.

Weekly Journal –  Holidays and Expectations

During the holidays, we are so preoccupied with others that we forget to care for ourselves. This may sound counter-intuitive because the holidays are all about our loved ones – showing them we care with intuitively chosen gifts, cooking for them, embracing them, and indulging in their company. We pick our families up from the airport, and spend our time entertaining them, and making sure everything is as magical as can be… and we neglect ourselves. As important as it is to spend the holiday season with those we love – it is equally important to stop and take care of our own well-being. It is important to let ourselves indulge in the moment to appreciate it all. Time moves quickly, and when we learn to care for ourselves enough to stand still with the ones we love, we can find that happiness lasts longer, and we allow ourselves to savor every detail.

With the good comes the bad, and with the light comes the dark. As joyous as the holidays can be, they also bring about stressors that have been dug deep inside ourselves. It isn’t until we are impacted by these triggers that we understand where they come from. And even then, when do you have time to deal with them? Or do you ever? Have you ever felt like you didn’t belong in your family? Is there that one member you dread seeing whenever the holidays come around? Are you feeling lonely because you’re spending the holidays without a loved one? These powerful emotions rise in each and every one of us. None of us escape the holidays unscathed, but like all things – there is always a bright side to the darkness. The Moon shines not because it has light, but because it reflects the light of the Sun. Our emotional well, represented by the Moon, needs the light of the Sun the luminate. Without inner work and hope, we will be in a perpetual state of darkness. How do you spend your holidays? How can you ensure you get the most out of them this year?” When do you find time to take care of yourself so you’re not emotionally drained? How do the holidays affect you spiritually?

Answering these questions helps us gain equilibrium within ourselves. We then don’t ask ourselves “where did time go?”, “how is it over already?”, or “ I didn’t even feel it this year.” Let time fly by  because you can’t get enough of each other – not because you were too busy running around to appreciate the blessings that surround you.
