The Weekly Sage – Edition 8

weekly sage

Welcome to the latest edition of our new Weekly Sage, an outward and inward look at the week to come. So many of us use Tarot, astrology, and contemplative journaling to support ourselves and each other. We hope this little weekly blog will inspire all of us to think, feel, and transform in bigger ways together. May it unite us by collectively magnifying our personal intentions into a potent resource of positive energy, that will spread into our communities and beyond.

There is major magic afoot at Sage Goddess this month, including our live (virtual and in-person) New Moon and Festival of Lights (Diwali) celebration, honoring the goddess Lakshmi on October 19 (RSVP on our online and in-person event pages), and our live (virtual and in-person) Samhain celebration on October 30 (RSVP on our online and in-person event pages). Bring a friend to both events! Everyone who brings a guest to this month’s celebrations will receive a special gift from us.

Astrology – Bright Lights, Big Love

the weekly sage astrology bright lights big love

Venus enters Libra today, emphasizing the value of beauty, relationship, love, and partnership. Libra takes the initiative to reach greater harmony and diplomacy. Venus is the planet of love, and represents our essential needs and values. With Venus in Libra, we are encouraged to keep things light and harmonious, rather than holding on with intensity. We are reminded that compromise is essential to maintain happy, and long-lasting relationships. Because Libra is the sign of seeking balance, this transit also allows us to observe the disparities in our romantic, and platonic relationships that aren’t serving us. We are inspired to make positive changes, considering all those involved without compromising our own, personal goals.

On October 17th, Mercury enters Scorpio. While Venus in Libra encourages us to keep things light and fair in our relationships, Mercury in Scorpio wants to communicate with focus and intensity. Mercury is the planet of communication while Scorpio is the sign of transformation. Scorpio wants to uncover what is hidden, and under the influence of this energy, allows us to unravel and investigate every thought. Don’t be surprised if you feel the need to have profound conversations until the Sun comes up!

The New Moon cycle begins on October 19th, at 12:12 pm Pacific time, in the sign of Libra, and also marks the celebration of Diwali – the Festival of Lights. Libra favors beauty, symmetry, balance, and harmony. With the New Moon in Libra we are encouraged to acknowledge and reconnect with our inner light, allowing it to inspire us in finding a positive balance between ourselves, and our partnerships. New Moon in Libra, combined with Diwali, encourages us to surround ourselves with blessings and abundance. We celebrate our relationships, and set new intentions toward our own personal goals. It is in the darkness, when Luna is dim, that our inner light shines brightest.

Join us as we celebrate the New Moon and Festival of Lights (Diwali), honoring the goddess Lakshmi – as stars sparkle across the black expanse of one of the darkest new moon nights. Join us in our puja to Lakshmi as she hears these prayers of gratitude, and smiles upon the adoring. Lakshmi rules this holiday from her perch of benevolence. RSVP here on our free online and in-person event pages.

Weekly Tarot

tarot blog post the hierophant

The Hierophant Tarot card comes forward for all of us today, representing institution and the pursuit of knowledge. A Hierophant literally means someone who interprets secret knowledge. He is shown sitting on a throne between two pillars, with two men kneeling beneath him. His right hand is raised in benediction, with two fingers pointing skyward and two pointing down, representing a bridge between Heaven and Earth. Although the Hierophant also represents conformity and conventionalism, it’s important to understand that The Hierophant is a bearer of compassion and profound knowledge. He can represent a spiritual leader, or an elder – a father figure. The Hierophant also represents our own capacity as Spiritual leaders and teachers. When we feel aimless, the Hierophant offers his sage wisdom, advising us to calm the panic inside by exploring our higher consciousness. The Hierophant symbolizes the beliefs we adopt, and asks us to heed the messages and routines of our ancestors who came long before us. Alternatively, he may also appear to remind us to let go of what we’re stubbornly holding onto; to not continue following the convention of our previous patterns. The Hierophant leads us, by the hand, ensuring us that we never walk alone.

Journal Prompt – Intuition and your Authentic Self

journal prompt 10 14

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between your intuition and coincidence? How does your intuition communicate with you? How can you understand the clues your intuition leaves for you? Acknowledging and then understanding these messages allows you to get in touch with your authentic self, and make positive changes in your life. When your actions come from a place of authenticity, your/our world changes. Magic is real, and it begins inside of you. Check out my interview on Mogul for tips on trusting your intuition and consciously creating space so you may honor your best, authentic self. On your journey toward a happier, more fulfilling life, keeping a journal, and writing down these ”random” synchronicities allows you to strengthen, and trust in, your intuition. What happens when you ignore your intuition? Does your intuition communicate to you in dreams? Thoughts? Coincidences? What do the clues look like? Write down every detail, and their messages will be revealed at the right time.
