The Weekly Sage – Edition 9
- Details
Welcome to the latest edition of the Weekly Sage, an outward and inward look at the week to come. So many of us use Tarot, astrology, and contemplative journaling to support ourselves and each other. We hope this little weekly blog will inspire all of us to think, feel, and transform in bigger ways together. May it unite us by collectively magnifying our personal intentions into a potent resource of positive energy, that will spread into our communities and beyond.
We are so excited here at Sage Goddess about all the magic coming our way! We have celebrations coming up that you can attend no matter where you live, including our live (virtual and in-person) Samhain event on October 30 (RSVP on our online and in-person event pages). Bring a friend! Everyone who brings a guest to this month’s celebrations will receive a special gift from us.
With November around the corner, we hope you’ll join us for our live (virtual and in-person) Full Moon celebration as we honor Fortuna and Inari. We will also be honoring the completion of cycles in our own lives, and celebrating what has been, as well as what will be. I hope you are continuing to enjoy the magic of this season, my loves.
Astrology – Opposites Attract (Or do they?)
On October 22nd, Mars moves into Libra at 11:28 am, Pacific Time. Mars is the planet of action, and intense energy. When Mars enters the sign of Libra, we are more prone to reflection as opposed to impulsive, raw action. The sociable energy of Libra supports thought before action, allowing us to consider and sympathize with others. However, the downside to this transit is the indecisive Libran energy, susceptible to passive-aggressiveness in pursuit of fairness. Libra wants everything to be beautiful, and can plaster a smile on difficult situations, while there is so much more brewing beneath the surface. The stark energy of Mars is subdued, as Libran energy encourages indirect and subtle approaches. What happens when opposites come together? They form a great bond, completing each other where needed, or they can be destructive to one another. With Mars in Libra, it is time to harness that dynamic energy with harmony, and assert ourselves where we seek justice. Libra is the sign of relationships, and Mars puts extra energy into anything it touches. If you’re looking for insights into relationships with specific zodiac signs, you might be interested in my latest Bustle article which suggests different ways to connect even more deeply with your partner.
The Sun will move into the sign of Scorpio on October 23rd. With Jupiter and the Sun in Scorpio, the energies that surround us are both positive and intense, encouraging us to dive into the deepest depths of ourselves with courage and optimism. Scorpio energy inspires us to explore deeper connections with ourselves, and with those around us. Scorpio is the seductive sign of rebirth, transformation, and power. The Sun, planet of light on Earth (representing willpower, consciousness and sense of purpose) is seduced by the power of night. This seduction is for goodness – to attract you to parts of yourself begging for acknowledgment and integration. The phrase “master and servant” comes to mind – Scorpio wants to eliminate anything that stands in the way of you living in your full, true power.
Weekly Tarot
The Empress Tarot card comes forward today, for all of us. The Empress brings miraculous life into the tangible world. Some believe The Empress to be Demeter, goddess of agriculture and harvest, or Mother Earth. She represents abundance – nourishing and nurturing, our pleasure in sensory experiences, and our connection to the natural world. As The High Priestess reigns over the cosmic and otherworldly dimensions, The Empress’ dominion is the Earth. And while the High Priestess governs the ideals of the unconscious, The Empress governs the activity of the subconscious – what we know and believe in our hearts. She embodies the fertile life and growth of the natural world, and cultivates a thriving, nurturing environment. She sits on a throne, wearing a starry crown and holding a scepter. The scepter symbolizes her sheer power, her crown (with its twelve stars) represents the months of the year, and her throne (in the middle of a rolling green field of grain) represents her connection to the vital life that stems from the Earth to nourish us.
Journal Prompt – Sacred Intentions
ournaling is a great way to center yourself, being aware of what’s happening around you, practicing mindfulness, and documenting the progress of your journey. The journey toward your Highest Self can be difficult. So, what are ways you can improve your mental clarity? Your house, desk, and general workspace have a lot to do with how you function every day. When you dream, and see a house appear, that house is symbolic of your mental state. The rooms are different levels of your psyche. How, then, is the influence of your house – your sacred space- different in waking life? Some of us spend more time at work than we do in our homes. How can you make sure that your space is not affecting your emotional well-being in a negative way? I was just published in Nylon where I suggested how to turn your workspace into a sacred space. What can you do to promote a better vibe in your space? What are your intentions for this space? How do you influence more creative energy? How can you improve the intention of your space?
