Questioner: I would like to start to read the Bible. Could you suggest whether I should start with the Old or New Testaments?

The Council:

In your particular situation, we would suggest that you start with the New Testament first, and then as you read the New Testament when you have spare time read bits and pieces of the Old Testament only to become familiar with it. Concentrate most of your time on the New Testament since you are living under the New Dispensation.

We would suggest that when you do begin to read the Bible, if you choose to, that before you actually start reading, take a minute or two and ask the Father for guidance. Ask Him to allow you to realize what knowledge there is to realize and then proceed to read. Start with the very beginning of the New Testament and read through.
