Here in my neck of the woods, in Florida, so far, you can still get coffee and food to go at most restaurants. It’s not the same as sitting down inside one of these places, and enjoying a dining experience along with other humans, but for now, it works.
I am able to sip a nice hot dark roast coffee in the morning, even if I have to sit in my car. The act of getting out like this seems to satisfy something primal. Maybe it’s that sense of community, of being a part of this crazy mixed-up world.
Who knows? But it made me realize that we are not here to go to a mountaintop and ohm for days or years on end. We, and I mean our soul, enjoys being here like it’s never been able to before.
To be able to partake in all that life has to offer. Whether it’s a good cup of joe, or a nicely prepared meal, and I mean prepared by someone else. Where you can be served, and you don’t have to clean up after yourself.
I hear conversations around me about how to get more healthy. What foods and supplements are the best for health and vitality. I see people jogging, going to the gym, and trying to find ways to extend their life.
But I have to wonder, why aren’t they having conversations about how to actually enjoy life?
People go to all kinds of therapy, take medicines and medications, get operations, and it seems to keep them going, but to what end?
They seem to be living in a kind of grayness.
They talk about pursuing careers that would be the most financially secure, but I don’t hear much about how they want to create something that would make their heart sing.
Even many in the metaphysical world, the new age, or spiritual, or esoteric, are most concerned about the planet, and how to help mankind. I don’t hear much conversations there about how delicious this rime/space reality is, and what they are experiencing on a sensual level.
While many would probably disagree, our soul is simple. It wants to just experience life here with us, without all of the stuff the mind believes is important. Whether that’s to help save the planet, or to prolong our life with diet and exercise regimes.
It’s really just interested in tasting that glass of wine, going for the walk in nature, having that ice cream cone, sting with other humans and just being. No lofty plans or goals. No pursuing anything just for the sake of security.
Not trying to prove anything to anyone.
Seems a little crazy from the human’s perspective. But it is that simple. And the mind doesn’t trust that perspective. It has to ask, “What’s the point of just being and enjoying life? Shouldn’t there be more? What about the state of the world, of the governments, of the environment? What about my own survival? I have all these needs I’m not exactly low maintenance.
I mean, look Soul, there are just too many moving parts!”
And our Soul is saying, “Just chill.. Just give it a rest, dear human! With all that thinking just now, you missed it. There was a beautiful cloud formation and you were so distracted you didn’t even see it,”
And, the funny thing is, our Soul created that cloud formation. Oh, well, maybe next time.
But from our Soul’s perspective, this environment is teeming with sensual stimuli. The sounds, sights, smells, textures, tastes, with both human and esoteric senses combined. It’s a virtual candy shop of pleasures for our soul, and for the human if they are willing to open up to it.
When I am in that space, even the sound of the engine running in the car next to mine is pleasant. It doesn’t have to just be organic pleasures. There are many, many man-made ones to enjoy.
Even all the so-called imperfections are perfect. Many experiences can become joyful that were just mundane to the human.
If we want to embody our Soul here, it does require we indulge daily in being sensual, whatever that may mean to each of us. Not to overthink it, but to invite our Soul in as much as possible in our daily routine, and see where it goes. It will probably go to more experiences that are pleasurable, and not obligatory in nature.
So prepare for some resistance from the mind. It will feel a little indulgent to spend a lot of your day in things that bring you pleasure. It may even feel selfish! Get used to it.
And, for the most part I know I’m preaching to the choir, because those reading this and who resonate with this material are well into self and are finding the joy. And, they know that it is their gift to this planet and to all that is.
