2022 Gemini New Moon

You have not heard from me for a while. That is because when the Sun (focus and goals) entered Gemini (communication) on May 20 and met with its planetary ruler Mercury (logical thinking) on Sat May 21 it felt like the sky was falling here in Ontario.

The planetary pair were at 00 degrees Gemini and activated the Sabian Symbol of “a glass-bottomed boat reveals undersea wonders”. The symbol asks us to look deeply within and discover “A new dimension of reality”. Gemini is more outwardly focused. It is curious, adaptable, objective, and left-brained driven. It sometimes misses what is meaningful because it is two steps ahead. But its guide Mercury (our thoughts and perceptions) is retrograde (looking within and re-evaluating our path). That is the theme of this Sun in Gemini cycle and the Gemini New Moon.

Gemini emphasizes polarities. Its astrological symbol is The Twins. One is mortal (physical experience) and the other is immortal (Soul Essence). I have always felt that Gemini is longing to be united with its Soul. In the season finale of Gray’s Anatomy (a long running television series based on the experiences of the staff at a hospital) character Miranda Baily declares “The world is broken” and it definitely feels that way now more than ever.  My experience on Sat May 21 symbolized that brokenness. An ancient tree we call The Shaman (someone in the past carved a face in the trunk) was split in two by a tremendous wind storm. Part of it stayed upright but the other part landed on our back deck and missed my bedroom window by inches. The message was “you have split off from your Soul’s guidance and wisdom. It is time to heal and come back into unity”. It is the message for all those humans who are broken. The tree has since been removed but the wakeup call has been heard. We were lucky no one was hurt and the house seems to be okay. Others in the Province are still without power a week later. I thank the Universe for taking care of us.

The Gemini New Moon at 09 degrees continues the theme of looking within and seeing a new path. It activates the Tarot Constellation of The Lovers, relationship and choice. The choice to unite in Love. The astrological Earth is at 09 degrees Sagittarius, The Tarot Constellation of The Hierophant, the path to wisdom. The Sun/Moon are guided by Mercury still retrograde now in Taurus (evaluating what is of true importance and true value). The messenger planet is working in harmony with Neptune in Pisces (mystical connection) and Pluto Rx in Capricorn (transformation and rebirth). Mercury moves direct on June 03 but remains in his shadow until June 18. He will return to 00 degrees Gemini on June 13 (perceiving a new dimension of reality) and will also be at that degrees at the Sagittarius Super Full Moon on June 14. The Sagittarius Earth is guided by Jupiter at 03 degrees Aries aligned with Mars at 03 degrees Aries. This activates a new cycle of spiritual growth and action that takes us to Mid-August 2024. This reminds me of the song from the Musical Hair. “When Jupiter aligns with Mars, peace will guide the planet and love will steer the stars”.  The time for that is now.

This New Moon has spiritual guidance from two Royal Fixed Stars. The Sun/Moon are aligned with Aldebaran, the Watcher in the East. It is the Eye of the Bull and symbolises honesty and integrity at all times. The East is awakening to new beginnings. The Earth in Sagittarius is aligned with Antares, the heart of the Scorpion. It is the Watcher in the West. It symbolizes cleansing, release, and transition. The West is the Looking Within Place where we find our personal power. Not Power over something but empowerment as we walk our path.

Our Animal Totem guide for Gemini is Deer, sensitivity, empathy, and compassionate kindness. Deer also calls us to new adventures. For Sagittarius we are guided by Elk, strength, stamina, and the support of spiritual community, and Owl, spiritual wisdom. They are reversed for the Southern Hemisphere. For all of us the Clan Mother who guides this Gemini New Moon is Storyteller. She is the Guardian of the Magical Spirit.
