This Week’s Cosmic Energy: October 6 to 12, 2025

FULL MOON: A Full Moon occurs on Monday, October 6, when the Moon at 14°08' Aries is exactly opposite the Sun at the same degree of Libra.

This lunation, which peaks at 8:47 p.m. PDT, carries heightened significance and potentially powerful energies, for more than one reason.

First, this Full Moon is the climax of the lunar cycle that began with the New Moon Solar Eclipse on September 21. This means that it could bring to a climax or crisis point some of the issues that have been activated during Eclipse Season. 

The lunation is also a Supermoon, occurring when the Moon is at perigee, the point in its orbit when it is closest to the Earth. The Moon will thus appear especially large in the sky, and could also loom larger in our emotions and experience. New developments or revelations are likely as the Moon's light is amplified, brightening the darkness of the night sky. 

THE MARS EFFECT: Another indicator of possibly intense or extreme emotions at the time of the Full Moon is that Mars—which is the Lord of the lunation due to being the ruler of Aries—is currently in passionate Scorpio. While we always expect emotions to be heightened with a Full Moon, feelings this week could be especially intense or visceral. With Mars in the sign of the Scorpion and the Eagle, actions and reactions tend to be quick and instinctive.

We are likely to feel restless and could act impulsively with this lunation—not only due to the Mars connection, but also because Uranus is closely semisquare the Moon. Aspects involving the sideways-spinning planet can manifest internally as a strong need to be free of restriction, and outwardly as sudden or surprising events.

It is important to have a healthy outlet for the intense energies of this week's Full Moon. This can be achieved by doing something physical; even a spirited walk or an afternoon of yard work can be very helpful in dispelling the buildup of energies.

CHIRON-ERIS CONJUNCTION: Wounded Healer Chiron and Eris, the dwarf planet of Discord, align this Wednesday. This is the second of three exact conjunctions between the two; the first was on May 26 and the third will be on March 19, 2026. In essence, we are working with this influence from April 2025 through April 2026, but are likely to be especially aware of its impact around the exact dates.

As Chiron and Eris align in Aries, we are quite aware of the harm caused by the shadow side of the Ram: self-centeredness, egotism, willfulness, arrogance, bullying, competitiveness, ruthlessness, and aggression. Painful truths are revealed, buried emotions come to the surface, and hidden traumas are uncovered. 

We may experience our own deep anger and resentment in response to what we observe now. Our challenge is to be wise and mature in how we express and utilize those feelings. We can keep in mind that wounds must be exposed in order for healing and recovery to occur, and that outrage can be used to inspire productive action.

PLUTO OUT OF BOUNDS: Pluto reached 23°32' of declination on October 3; this is the farthest "out of bounds" Pluto will be during its current three-month out-of-bounds period. The dwarf planet will be at that same degree of declination through October 18, after which it will slowly start heading back to "in-bounds" territory, reaching it on November 23. 

When a planet is out of bounds, its effects are exaggerated, unpredictable, and perhaps shocking. With Pluto now out of bounds, the desire for power and control is amplified, we undergo a deep process of detoxification, and what has been hidden comes to the surface. These effects are especially intensified this week and next, due to Pluto stationing direct on October 13.

ASPECTS THIS WEEK: Here are my brief interpretations of this week's most important aspects, day by day: 

Monday

Mercury enters Scorpio: Mercury will be in Scorpio until October 29. After entering Sagittarius on that date, it will go retrograde on November 9 and return to Scorpio from November 18 to December 11. While the Messenger Planet is in perceptive Scorpio, we seek truth, are not shy about expressing our feelings, and become impatient with anything that is superficial or fake. The mind tends to be more instinctive than rational, which can result in some intense conversations. Some may use the Mercury-in-Scorpio energy to be persuasive or to use words to manipulate.

Mercury quincunx Neptune: There is some confusion about what is true with this aspect. Communications could be unclear or misleading.

Full Moon: The Full Moon reaches its peak at 8:47 p.m. PDT, when the Moon is at 14°08' Aries and the Sun is at the same degree of Libra.

Tuesday

Mercury quincunx Uranus, Mercury square Pluto, Mercury quincunx Saturn: It will be vital to maintain our inner equilibrium today. We are likely to receive conflicting information and could become embroiled in intense conversations and verbal power struggles. The mind is suspicious and seeks to know what is really going on.

Wednesday

Venus sextile Jupiter: This aspect supports cooperation and contributes to a desire to work together.

Sun sesquiquadrate Uranus/Sedna: Changes in plans or unexpected events can set us off-balance. Nervous energy is heightened.

Chiron conjunct Eris: This is a long-term influence that peaks for the second time today. From April 2025 to April 2026, we are seeing the negative results of immature masculine energies, the shadow side of Aries the Ram.

Thursday

Venus quincunx Chiron/Eris: As Venus interacts with the Chiron-Eris conjunction, our attention is drawn to our personal relationships and how they either support or obstruct our healing process.

Mars sesquiquadrate Saturn: Frustrations can occur as we run into obstacles and our efforts appear to be blocked. This aspect requires patience and maturity to be navigated well.

Friday

No major aspects are exact today.

Saturday

Venus opposite Saturn: This aspect provides a reality check regarding our relationship and financial matters. It can help us to be more objective, to take a step back in order to gain more clarity in these areas. At the same time, keep in mind that current perspectives could be more pessimistic than is warranted, or might be based in fear. 

Sunday

No major aspects are exact today.

You are getting in touch with an aspect of yourself that you might have kept under wraps in order to please others or to avoid confrontation.
