Healing Your Voice and Self-Expression

Welcome to the Astro Psyche. This is your weekly astrology forecast for September 29th through October 5th.

And this week shows themes of healing your voice, healing your sense of self-expression. This week we have Mercury making an opposition to Chiron as well as a square to Jupiter and some other aspects that are happening this week particularly around healing, clearing and bringing healing and empowerment to your ability to express yourself.

It's so good to be here with you today. My name is Shauna McGrath. I'm a depth psychotherapist and an astrologer and I'm honored to share the astrology of this week from a depth psychological perspective. So let's begin with the lunar cycle.

The Lunar Cycle: First Quarter Moon in Capricorn

So we start the week with a first quarter moon in Capricorn and the first quarter is immediately following the new moon. We had a new moon solar eclipse in Virgo last week. So, we are moving forward. We're waxing. We're growing. We are moving further into the light of conscious awareness of things. This is the first quarter moon and the first quarter moon is a square aspect between the moon and the sun. And so in this case, it is happening in Capricorn on Monday, September 29th at 4:54 p.m. Pacific time. So Monday, maybe t Tuesday, depending on where you are in the world. And first quarter moons are known to be a crisis of consciousness. um a crisis of consciousness, a crisis of action, a crisis of how we want to move forward with something. Now, usually the first quarter moon is crisis of action and then the last quarter moon is crisis of consciousness. And I see these as a bit of both because what's happening on the outside, what we are physically doing is inherently connected to our internal experience to our consciousness and vice versa.

So this week emotionally, psychossematically there is something around finding a path through tension or maybe internal or external conflict. Finding the pathway through I think is really a theme of the first quarter moon here in Capricorn. And this to me feels dynamic. It's Capricorn moon and Libra sun which are both cardinal energies. Cardinal signs. And the cardinal signs are about initiating, beginning and excitedly moving something forward about uh adventuring into sometimes the unknown or sometimes something that is simply um something that is simply exciting. And so there's some momentum here and particularly whenever we have the moon in Capricorn there is a sense of determination a sense of stamina.

This particular quarter moon also connects in to some of the other transits this week. And so I'm going to leave it there for a moment and talk about that when we get to those transits. But I want you to know that this particular point in the lunar cycle, there's a fair amount of emotional momentum. And wherever you feel that this sense of yeah emotional momentum this internal push to do or be or explore or try or investigate there's something there for you that is connected into a broader experience or a broader storyline. Okay.

Sun in Libra Opposite Ceres in Aries: Maternal and Relational Themes

So also this week the sun in Libra will make an opposition to series the asteroid series in Aries. And so this shows us that there is possibly uh so many different ways that things can manifest always. One way that this can manifest is bringing light, bringing awareness to maternal or motherhood themes. bringing light and awareness to maternal or motherhood relational dynamics. And this could be uh what we would say intracychic within your own psyche, things coming up around your own experience of motherhood, whether that is your experience of motherhood, um being a mother yourself in whatever way that shows up for you. um or your experience of the ar of personal mother or maternal figures or the archetypal symbol of mother maternal qualities. what that means to you at a more universal or uh yeah like this idea of what it means to have an experience with the maternal could also be interc between psyches. So between you and someone else. So there could literally be something that comes to light here around a person or people in your life who you experience as maternal in some way.

This is an opposition. Sun in Libra is opposite Aries in Aries. And so there's also a sense here of culmination of things coming to maximum visibility, maximum completion. Sometimes this can be a sense of celebration. Sometimes it can be where we're feeling more intensely and things become more apparent. There's sort of um can also be this sense of things have been building to a certain point this week with this aspect. I'm struck by the relational component of it particularly because the sun is in the sign of Libra series in Aries. So Libra being the relational component the relational connection and then Aries being the individual autonomy and the sense of self and the sense of pioneering or independence or wanting to have something of your own. There might be something here that comes up around that.

Venus in Virgo Conjunct South Node: Clearing and Renewal

Now also along the lines of relationships, the planet Venus in Virgo will make a conjunction with the south node this week. And by its very nature, it will also make an opposition with the North Node because North and South Node are a pair. They're a duo. And so this conjunction has been building. It's exact this week. We're going to be feeling it. It's operative this entire week and it is exact this Saturday, October 4th at 2:20 a.m. Pacific time. So Saturday, Sunday is when it's at its peak.

The South Node and the North Node tend to be these sensitive points where we can connect in with greater possibility. the possibility to welcome new things in, the possibility to release and to dissolve. And this is a Venus making a conjunction with the south node. So the south node is more uh alive, more forward- facing. The way that I see this is a continuing to clear, continuing to clear, continuing to release. continuing to dissolve. South node is so much about dissolving, releasing. South node can also be about connecting in with the unseen world. It can be about connecting in with the things that we just naturally have an inclination toward. And so there's some healing around this that's happening. My sense is that this is connected in with whatever came up for you around the eclipse season in September.

So, we just very recently, and I'm saying that because this is involving the nodes and it's in Virgo, we just recently had our uh lunar eclipse September 7th in Pisces and then we had our solar eclipse uh the 21st in Virgo. And so Venus is moving over this area. Venus brings cohesion. It brings up themes of relationships, of beauty, of harmony. And there's something very purposeful when we have Venus in Virgo. There is something so incredibly intentional and heartbased And yeah, it it really makes me wonder here what it is that um wants to be cleared or renewed or just some some tender care here is what I really feel with Venus conjunct the south node. And then that um that clearing, that holding, that renewing allows Venus to see the North Node, to move into the sense of that North Node in Pisces, sense of faith, sense of hope, trusting in your intuition, allowing your intuition to blossom and move you forward. forward. These are some of the themes that I see with this particular aspect.

Mercury's T-Square with Jupiter and Chiron: The Poet Archetype and Healing Expression

Um, I also uh right before I came on to film this, I pulled an archetype card. I was just inspired to do that for you today at the beginning here. And I was going to share it at the beginning, but I forgot. And now feels like the appropriate time to share that because we're going to be talking about Mercury's aspects that are happening this week. So um this week Mercury in Libra is making a square to Jupiter. It's also making an opposition to Chiron. And this is creating a very particular configuration called a T-square involving Mercury, Jupiter and Chiron. And some of the themes here with this aspect are involving your voice, your expression, your communication which is Mercury, your mind, your intellect also Mercury and Jupiter which is our sense of faith and hope, our philosophy, our belief system, our metaphysics. Jupiter is the function of expanding and growing through new experiences and Chiron the planet the asteroid that is a symbol of healing. So there's something here around uh self-expression bringing in more uh hope and expansion and also a healing function to that.

So the archetype card that I pulled just now is the poet. show you the the image there if you're able to see it on the video. So, oh gosh. And this is the archetype, the Wild Unknown Archetypes Oracle deck by Kim Cray. So, the image has this uh the focal point for me that's standing out is this uh white globe of light that someone appears to be holding with their hands, one hand on either side and the globe is behind it. It's like the backdrop of that is this uh darkened sort of sky and then the sky turns into these bright colors, blue, pink, orange, and there's black birds flying around in the colored sky. Okay. So, let's So, okay. I'm curious what strikes you in the image, if you're able to see it. What comes up for you there? and what comes up for you around this term the poet what that means to you what comes to mind and I'm going to read from you very briefly what Kim has to say uh so she says this archetype when it's in its clear form it is a symbol of the clairvoyant wisdom and timelessness when it gets distorted it can be harmful words sharp tongue or thwarted creativity. It's a symbol of the artist, the witness, the trutht teller. She says, "The poet's work is to feel immensely and not be afraid. They must seek out truth in the darkest corners of the world and carry it back for all to see. This unique capacity resides within all of us, regardless of our relationship to creativity. When the poet is present, uh the energy of the poet is present, there is a call for deep honesty and reflection, for seeing the big picture within the little one. The poet rides effortlessly between the personal and universal. It's possible that others may not seem to listen or care about the poet's work, but do not be discouraged. The words of the poet ring true for centuries to come, soothing the wounds of despair and violence that captivate our world. The poet's work is never finished. Find your voice and trust that the wind will carry it."

So I find this very interesting because when I was preparing for this reading I felt a a dryness in my throat and to me I got this message that was also something around healing your voice that's a theme this week and afterwards I pulled this card. So there's something here around your voice, not your little literal voice, though that may be the case, but the the archetype of the voice, your sense of expression. And um I'm struck by this saying what you see, finding your voice and trusting that what wants to come through for you there is meaning and purpose. We need that from you. Whatever wants to come through there, that is um important. So to go back and so I'm of course curious what comes up for you there um how this is landing with you.

So when we have Mercury in Libra making this square to Jupiter and Cancer, we're talking about Mercury the function of making meaning of things, the function of analyzing things, of also bridging things together. Mercury is so much about bridging and Jupiter is all things around faith belief system and so there's something here around possibly um around your beliefs your how you think about things and I I'm wondering if there's something here coming up around wanting to learn or study or express yourself in bigger ways to to take up more space with how you express. This makes me wonder if you find yourself holding back your thoughts and feelings in some way. If there's some sense of uh that there's something that wants to be opened up here, there's something that wants to be expanded. Maybe there are ideas that you're sitting with.

And then when we have Mercury opposite Chiron, this to me is a tender transit because Chiron is a symbol of our wounds, the things that are vulnerable, the things that over a lifetime need tending, need loving, attentive care, and that we return to over and over again and over time we get um we get very practiced at giving attention to these particular areas or dynamics in our life. And so collectively what's happening now is there is a call to heal something around your intellect, your self-expression, how you communicate in relationships, how you think about relationships possibly. You know, Mercury can also be connected to the nervous system to some extent. Um, I think that the moon as well as Mercury can be connected into this. And so there might be something here around how you process information through your sensory system and how that shows up in your mind, your thought process, your emotions. So there's some sort of mental emotional healing that's happening here. And again, it is highly relational with Mercury being in the sign of Libra.

So what's happening here is this creates this T-square where Mercury is opposite Chiron and that's being squared by Jupiter. Mercury is squaring Jupiter. Chiron um Jupiter is squaring Chiron. So there's this T shape that we could draw. And uh this is also really important because this means that Mercury, the slower moving planet, is coming in to um this existing square between Jupiter and Chiron. And so I realize I'm throwing a lot of info at you. You're just let this wash over you and take what resonates with you. Um but Mercury is coming in here to this square between Jupiter and Chiron which is a symbol of healing our faith. Um healing our ability to hold space for diversity for other ways of being for other cultures and ways of doing things. This is Jupiter. Jupiter is about seeing things from other people's perspectives and delighting in the diversity that is in the human species. With Jupiter, there is a love for exploring different things. There's a love for novelty. And one of the shadow sides of Jupiter is um can be uh dogmatic thinking or thinking that this is the one way. This is the true way and all other ways are um are not it are flawed are stupid and so there can also be this sense of overinflation when we have Jupiter um overinflation um egotism dogmaticism those kinds of things and So Jupiter making this square to Chiron. There's some healing that's happening here. This is a long-term transit. So let's see. This um Jupiter Chiron square began just recently in August of 2025. It's going to go through until September 2026 next year, but right now we're really in it. It's very close. So, um, it's going to continue to get closer towards exactness within the same degree of the square in October of 2025 through July of 2026. So, we're we're approaching a greater sense of intensity as we move forward over the next um 6 to9 months or so.

And so what's happening this particular week is Mercury is coming in and saying, "Hey, I want to talk about this. I want to bring some intellect, some communication. I want to bring some words to this situation around healing our faith and our tolerance." And it could also be wanting to open up to new possibilities. There's something here. So, uh, this is going to look and feel differently for everyone, of course. Really depends on what's happening in your life and in your chart and how this is connecting in. Uh, and I yeah, I want to say the beauty of squares like this, especially a T-square, is it typically denotes a time where there is something required of us. It's very difficult to ignore the call to ignore what is wanting to come forward from within. when we have a square or a T-square like this and what's happening on top of this is that this first quarter moon in Capricorn that we talked about happening at the beginning of the week that's coming in to to fully complete the square. So we'll have a grand cross where we have one planet in each of the cardinal modalities. So we have moon in Capricorn, Mercury in Libra, Jupiter in Cancer and Chiron in Aries. And so this is a very full, vibrant, alive, dynamic and forward moving kind of energy.

So I encourage you to yeah be with your thoughts. What is on your mind? What is wanting to come forward from you? What? Yeah. How are you expanding and growing? What are you wanting to expand and to grow into? And what are you healing also particularly around your sense of self-expression or your belief system? There's something here around that for you.

Mars in Scorpio Square Pallas Athena: Energizing Wisdom

And then the the last bit of the astrology that I'll say for today is we have Mars and Scorpio making a square to Palace Athena. A lot of squares this week. Uh so Mars has this energizing impact on Palace Athena which is a symbol of wisdom, strategy and independence. So all of these qualities, your inherent wisdom, your inherent ability to pivot, to be crafty, to see, and there's a certain sense of self-sufficiency when we have palace Athena. So all of these things are energized, and there's a sense of vibrancy around them. I find that this is a really sweet pairing together. this very energizing Mars to palace Athena with the Mercury Jupiter Chiron dquare that's happening feel this sense of momentum and so my question to you is what so contemplations um what is wanting to come through you this week what are you wanting to express and how are you going to create space for this energy. How are you going to create space for your thoughts, for your voice, for your visions?

Tarot Pull: Empowerment Through Intuition and Fire

Okay. So, I would love to pull some tarot for you. Uh, as always, I love hearing how this is sitting with you, what's coming up for you as you're hearing this. If you're not already, you may wish to find yourself in a comfortable place position that feels relaxing to you and close your eyes or focus on something in front of you. And then imagine that you have strong capable tree roots that are growing down into the ground all the way to the very center of the earth where there is this beautiful orb of light at the very center of the earth. And this light radiates up through your tree roots, through your body, up and out through the top of your head, creating this beautiful protective bubble of light from the earth through your body and around you. You may wish to invite in the presence of your higher self, spiritual guidance team, ancestors, whoever or whatever are that benevolent guiding force for you. Ask that they are here to protect you, to help you, and to communicate with you in a way that you can easily understand right now. If there is a situation or a wondering that's on your heart, you can hold that in your awareness now. And if you like, you can pick a number between one and three, and that card will be special for you.

All right. I like these cards. Okay. So, first is the page of wands. And in this deck, so uh in this deck, it's a picture of a person very intently standing over their brew that they're cooking and they're like eyes are like locked in. They look very determined. Pages tend to be a symbol of messages. They feel very mercurial to me. Messages and travel. and wands are a symbol of fire, passion, enthusiasm. So there are some messages that are coming through for you this week. Um again might be external, might be coming from within. There's some new information coming in here and it's very exciting. uh and I feel a sense of intensity around the information or the messages or I even am feeling into the pages sometimes being a symbol of travel where maybe there are things that are moving around in your consciousness, things that are moving around in your psyche. So maybe you are not physically going somewhere but there is something that is happening in your brain this like moving things around. And this card to me actually feels very much like Jupiter and Mercury together because uh Jupiter is also a symbol of travel. And so yeah, there's there's this brew that's being cooked up. There's something that's being transmuted here. There's some healing information. Okay. Other we may go back to that.

Other cards uh are the high priestess is the second card. High priestess is mysterious. It's a symbol of the unknown and the unseen. And it reminds us that we don't always know the full story. We can never fully know everything that is happening um behind the scenes, everything that is unseen within your own psyche and then also collectively. So for this reason, the high priestess is connected to the unconscious. There is great wisdom here. When we get the high priestess, this is encouraging you to listen to yourself. to trust yourself. And the High Priestess also has this quality of inaction. Not that you shouldn't take action, but it's it's saying, you know what, there's a lot to be gained from listening to yourself and listening to your intuition and honing your intuition that sometimes that is one of the most productive things that you can do. Okay, may have more to say about that in a moment.

Third card is the Queen of Wands. If there is any Well, okay. Do I want to say that? Okay. Yeah. Queen of Wands is one of the cards that most talks about taking up space, saying what you have to say, and embracing your inner boldness, your inner um authority and influence, and just being who you are. This is so much the Queen of Wands. So, I think it's interesting. We got two wands and then a high priestess. So, there's some fire here and there's some water here going on. The queen is about embracing the truth of your own sense of self, your creativity. Um, it's about taking up space and having the passion and enthusiasm and boldness to do that. Particularly when we have the Queen of Wands. When I see the High Priestess and the Queen of Wands, this to me indicates an empowerment via your intuition, empowerment via listening to yourself, empowerment via being connected to yourself. that actually going within and going inside of your own psyche, your own wisdom, your own experience, whatever that is, that there is something about that internal dipping in that is inherently empowering and confidence building and that helps you to show up in the world in the way that you need to. Queens can sometimes talk about how we show up particularly in service of others or when we're responsible to others or maybe when we're in a leadership type position. So there's something here around uh going inside first, working through the unconscious first. And there might be this like going back again and again and again. That is my experience is that we constantly go back and reflect on okay wait what am I actually feeling right now? Um, and so yeah, actually the way that I'm looking at this, the page of wands seems one manifestation of this, this first card could be a a waking up to something, a realizing of something. And it's this one one little thread or one little idea that gets tossed in the soup and then that initiates a process of exploration. And when you see that process through, when you actually really go into the High Priestess again in whatever way that is for you, when I think that um it actually can it can be sometimes challenging to go into the High Priestess energy because it's subtle and it's quiet. And for many of us uh that high priestess energy requires it requires a sensory deprivation environment. Um, I don't know if this is your experience, but for me to to go into this mode, that high priestess sort of energy, that way of being, I usually have to not have any input. I can't um I have to do my best to um be in a place that is quiet, that is darkened, that is like where there's the least amount ideally no sounds or sights or um even intense things that I have to like do in the near future. There there's a quality with the High Priestess. There's a quality of timelessness of being exactly where you are and that there is nothing that needs to be done. There's nothing that should have been done. And yeah, like when we're living in the world that we are, it's incredibly can be um difficult to drop into that without removing ourselves from the busyiness of the world.

And so I'm saying that to you because I kind of feel the effort. I'm thinking about the page of wands here. This uh brew that they're making. There's some cooking that needs to happen. There's some efforting that needs to happen here. And then there's this process of going into the high priestess mode, going into contemplation, going into your thoughts, your feelings, your unconscious dynamics. And uh the way that I'm feeling into this for you right now is there's something about really going in there and spending some time with reflecting and that that I get this image not sure why this is coming through right now but I get this image of okay you go down into the underworld down into the unconscious and And then there's this um pillar that supports you to rise back up to the material mundane world and that is the Queen of Wands. And there's a sense of royalty. There's a sense of having the right to take up space because you are a human being and that gives you the right to uh say what you need to say and be who you want to be. Um there's a sense of yeah just your existence is worthy. Um your inherent existence means that you are worthy to exist as a human. Um and at the end of the day this is what this week is about for you. It's about going into your actual lived internal experience and bringing some healing to that, bringing some loving attention and care. And then that has this regenerative impact for you so that you can go into the world and do the things that you need to do and um also move through the world with a bit more uh ease, a bit less heaviness. That's that's the feeling that I have for you.
