January 2026 Theme: Sorting and Integration

January 2026 Theme: Sorting and Integration

The theme for January is “Sorting and Integration”

We have ended 2025 with many moving parts, random pieces on our plates, unfinished business, half-baked intentions, inspired ideas, some clutter, a bit of confusion and a great deal of relief and anticipation to be moving forward.

There is no contest that 2025 was a challenging year with a big theme of endings, completions and re-inventing self on a very deep level.

So what do we do now? The desire is to jump forward into what is next however there is still work to do in order to fully prepare for the opportunities of 2026. And the themes of January provide us just that space to transition in the best way possible to what is next.

For those of you who are familiar with the Harry Potter stories, this time is like the “sorting hat” where you have to give the final decision about what is right for you up to spirit and your higher self as the personality may not have the clarity to choose well. The “sorting hat” is a good analogy for getting out of one’s own way to determine the next step that is best aligned with you. Sorting will require, in some cases, to go back into 2025 and recapitulate what worked, what did not, and what events and relationships and circumstances brought you to where you are right now in this moment. The more you can integrate those experiences into current wisdom, the better prepared you will be when the energy really gets going towards the end of the month.

Remember that we are still in the year of the wood snake and won’t be moving into the year of the fire horse until February 17th so this is still preparation, shedding old skins, and working with the energy of death/rebirth. We feel the fire and air elements of the year beckoning us to take action but it is wise to be patient and to do the work first.

How Can You Sort?

Consider what is on your plate both currently and for the future. Does it inspire you? If not, is there something you can change or refine to make it more inspiring? If not, it may be time to leave it behind.

Reflect on your attachments. Are they linked to old energy? If they are personally important, how can you re-inspire and bring them more current?

Think about responsibilities and obligations you took on in 2025. Are they complete? Do they need to be renegotiated to be better aligned with you? This is a big one as it usually involves other people and there will be potential for disappointment. It is OK to change your mind. Put yourself first.

What feels like clutter to you? Too many confusing thoughts? Too many good ideas? Too much stuff in your physical environment? Too many emotional loose ends? Again, sort by asking what inspires you? What do you have a passion for? What seeds were planted in 2025 that are starting to grow? Look at what you are manifesting and make sure it is something you truly want or if it is for someone else, not good enough, etc.

In terms of the integration process, this will occur naturally as long as you can sort through that long list successfully. Just make sure to take the personal time you need for this to happen. For those of you that were super involved with the holidays, take a break and do some cleaning, clearing and sorting. Don’t be afraid to release, change, and/or delegate.

Most importantly, do not procrastinate what needs sorting including filing, taxes, and other responsibilities.

How the Month Shows Up

You Personally

The first three weeks of the month are truly a time of personal sorting, decluttering and integration. It a time of inner reflection, not to be confused with hibernation. There is still the need for community, social interactions and support from others. However the focus is on what you need personally, especially what it comes to releasing some attachment you are emotionally tied to. Watch your thoughts, your reactions and tune into what makes you happy and what creates stress in your life. This should give you some clues as to where the work is.

The end result we are looking for is freedom. Freedom from the clutter, emotionally, physically and psychologically. You have the potential to get yourself on track for what is right for you however, you will need discipline and courage in your sorting process to get there. There is a powerful opportunity for connecting with creativity and passion this month as you rediscover what truly inspires you and gives you joy. It is time to eliminate what stands in the way and this includes patterns of negative thoughts, worry and anxiety.

Relationships

The “sorting hat” is alive and well regarding relationships. Look for unexpected new connections as well as insights on what needs pruning. Important relationships that feel stagnant may need some new inspiration that may include an adventure, a new hobby, a cooperative project or simply just time to share new ideas and vision. This is an area where exploring what is responsibility and what is unnecessary obligation will lend some clarity as to what needs pruning. It is OK to say no as well as appropriate to redefine your position in someone’s life if it does not give you satisfaction or keep you inspired.

The “sorting hat” can be somewhat ruthless so kindness and compassion needs to be included in serious conversations. Never make or communicate your decisions about another’s shortcomings, make them instead about what you need.

It is an exciting time to contemplate new connections. This is part of the theme for 2026 and networking will be an important aspect of community. Instead of thinking about how you need to do everything yourself, contemplate the idea of collaboration and be inspired by the possibilities.

Health and the Physical Body

This is a great month to sort out what works for you and what does not in terms of your self-care and health practices. If you have been “meaning to” for a while now but have not yet motivated to a health practice, it is time to examine why. Perhaps it is not the right one. Perhaps it is not inspiring enough. Perhaps you don’t have the support you need. What can you refine in your intentionality to include inspiration instead of feeling burdened by the responsibility for your health and well-being?

Community support is helpful such as joining a program, a class, a challenge, where you have collaboration on your side. It is helpful for accountability when others are involved. Create a walking group, a spa day, a diet you do together, a sharing of information about health practices time. Be creative, be vulnerable and ask for help. There is power in being able to receive support. There is less power in hiding behind what you may consider a weakness.

Business Partnerships and Projects

This is a great month for the sharing of ideas and being inspired by what could be. Beware of idealism gone bad and always seek practical consultation before engaging in a new venture especially if it includes any kind of risk. Spend time sorting through what worked and what did not in some of the past projects, ventures and partnerships so you can refine and reconfigure to make the future ones more aligned.

In sorting, it is important to reflect on any unfinished or procrastinated projects to determine if they need more inspiration or simply to be cut loose. It is also a very good time to focus responsibly on your finances, budget and what is of value to you, where to put your energy, money and intention. Don’t be too hasty in jumping into new projects or opportunities before asking all the right questions and feeling into them from all angles. Patience, there is plenty of time!

Environment

We are in the last throws of the emotional water and earth influence of 2025 and soon to be supported by fire and air. The theme for January around the environment is balance and flexibility. If you are surrounded by too much water energy bring some fire into your environment by lighting fires or burning candles. If you are feeling pulled energetically down by too much earth, get out, move and breathe with an acknowledgement of air as an ally. This will be important as we move into fire and air in February as well. You will need to balance all that fire energy with water and air with grounding so begin thinking now about how you will be doing that. Plan ahead but be flexible. Water is also emotional and we are beginning the month with an emotionally charged Full Moon where the focus will be on home, family, comfort, healing and emotional well-being.

The sorting definitely includes your personal environment and really examining what is important to you, what feels like home, what is old energy, what is clutter, and where you would like more space and freedom to bring in something new. The adventure spirit of this year also supports a yearning for new landscapes and environments such as can be accessed through travel. Getting out of your comfort zone can be inspiring and bring new insights and energy to old situations.

Dates and Time Frames

January 1-7
We begin the month with an emotionally charged Full Moon in Cancer as well as a desire to set some grounded goals and intentions. Balance is needed between action and rest, between sharp focus and dreaming. The sorting process may become overwhelming during this time so pace yourself by giving yourself plenty of time and space to process what you need to process, do what you need to do, and communicate what is percolating inside.

There is also a need to take responsibility for your own sorting and your own integration. It is wise to ask for help and receive it however in the end it is always up to you. No one can do it for you. You can seek advice and put what you receive into the mix but the final decisions will always be up to you.

We are tempted to create and finalize lofty goals for the year during the first week of any year. Keep in mind that we are still in transition and preparation so any goal should be general and connected to how you wish to feel about your life instead of anything specific, for now.

It is also important during this time to balance staying in your own lane with being available to support others. Follow your intuition and plan your time accordingly. And, don’t forget to include some creativity.

January 3: A Full Moon in Cancer is Saturday, January 3rd at 3:02 AM Mountain Standard Time (MST). Also known as the Wolf Moon, this is a super moon that is emotional in nature and may resurrect feelings of heaviness around burdens and responsibilities not yet sorted out. You are not alone in this so practice compassion with others when appropriate. Pruning out the old can bring a sense of relief and freedom as blocks related to attachments can be unblocked. The focus on this full moon is what is close to you; home, family, loved ones, personal environment. How can you bring more comfort without compromise into your life? Feed the foundation of where you are rooted and grounded. Unburden yourself of unnecessary worries, obligations and old expectations and you will feel more at peace with everything. Balance between personal time for inner contemplation and social time with others should be honored especially when you are sorting and evaluating what is important to you.

January 8-15
A time where focus is sharpened and insights begin to land around values, choices, responsibilities and action steps. Only you can integrate what is yours, and if it is not yours, you cannot integrate it. Keep this in mind as you sort through all your options, thoughts, past patterns, what you have put on your plate and what you are shelving for possible future use. Whatever is not yours, you need to release as it will only give you energetic indigestion. This is perhaps the strongest window of relationship sorting. If heartache is involved, be compassionate. If courage is needed, be strong. And whatever happens, be kind. Follow your heart and let your emotions find clarity as we move towards a more mental influence. Do not let the thinking analytical mind take over, but rather be open to insight for understanding instead of calculated definition.

January 16-23
This is an exciting window where things begin to come together. The sorted pieces start integrating and making sense, new relationships come into focus, new ideas take hold, social interactions are meaningful, exchanges inspiring, creativity begins to burst and thinking outside the box wants to be the norm, and we can now set more concrete intentions for moving forward. It is important not to get ahead of yourself and always do your checks and balances before jumping into something. Enjoy the inspiration that this time has to offer and take advantage of higher spiritual opportunities when they come around. Be open to grand insights around future vision and lofty dreams but keep yourself grounded in practical reality. You will find you have many options at this time so if you are not yet clear about what you want and where you are going, this may be a challenge. If you find yourself in a state of confusion, go back to your heart and ask, does this inspire me? If not, shelve it even if other have a different opinion.

January 18: New Moon in Capricorn is Sunday, January 18th at 12:51 PM Mountain Standard Time (MST).

January 24-31
It’s all systems go now. Ready or not, here it comes. The energy is forward thinking, forward moving, adventurous, exciting, new and different, courageous and bold. How, with whom and where do you want to show up? As long as there is authenticity there is flow and momentum to your intentions and fuel for creative endeavors. As always, a word of warning about overdoing it. So pace yourself, participate in cooperative efforts instead of lunging ahead alone, and give yourself plenty of time, you won’t miss out. If you are not yet ready for this forward movement of new beginnings, you may feel just a bit overwhelmed. Go back to the drawing board and see what you can still sort out for yourself, letting go of dead weight, old patterns and unnecessary responsibilities. It is never too late.

Have a great month!
Blessings,
Lena
