This Week’s Cosmic Energy: December 1 to 7, 2025

GALACTIC ACCELERATION: Events transpire quickly and situations unfold rapidly this week, fueled by a galactic Super Full Moon that is eclipse-like in its effects.
The lunation peaks at 3:13 p.m. PST on Thursday, December 4, when the Moon at 13°03' Gemini opposes the Sun at that same degree of Sagittarius.
The position of the Sun is significant, for it aligns with a mysterious point in space known as the Great Attractor (GA), currently at about 14 degrees of Sagittarius. Astronomers do not know exactly what this galactic anomaly is, but they can tell that it is massive.
The GA has an enormous gravitational pull and is drawing our Milky Way galaxy—and the supercluster of hundreds of galaxies that we are a part of—toward it at the astonishing speed of 600 km/sec (1.3 million mph). The GA is the reason our galaxy is moving through space and traveling on its specific route through the universe. Scientists have observed that the immense gravity of the GA has the ability to warp time and space, as well as bend light.
Symbolically, the GA represents the magnetic pull of our cosmic destiny—which appears to influence the course of our lives, whether or not we are consciously aware of it. Because its true nature is unknown, the GA also represents the great mysteries of existence, and our attraction to that which is beyond our understanding. Its presence brings up the debate of fate versus free will, and how those forces play out in our individual and collective lives.
This week, as we work with this galactic Full Moon, we are likely to observe an acceleration of events, as well as a sense that what is occurring is deeply fated. In addition, the emotional impact of the lunation is increased due to it being a Super Moon; with the Moon at the point in its orbit nearest the Earth, it potentially has a stronger effect on the waters of planet Earth and the fluids and emotions of humans.
A "HEMI-ECLIPSE": I've coined the word "hemi-eclipse" for this Full Moon (although let me know if you're heard that term elsewhere!), because it powerfully activates the Moon's nodal axis. A "true" eclipse occurs when a New or Full Moon is within a few degrees of being conjunct either the North or South Node; at the time of this week's lunation, the Sun and Moon are tightly square the nodal axis, currently at 13°43' Pisces/Virgo.
This Thursday's "hemi-eclipse" is at the midpoint timewise between the Total Lunar Eclipse that occurred three months ago and the Total Lunar Eclipse that will occur three months hence. We can thus consider this lunation a check-in point within the greater eclipse cycle. Like the "true" eclipses, this week's Full Moon carries karmic themes of resolution and completion, and represents an important phase in humanity's ongoing evolutionary progress.
There is also a strong link energetically between the September, December, and March timeframes, since this week's Full Moon is triggering the same degrees of mutable signs activated by the two Total Lunar Eclipses; the eclipse in September was at 15°22' Pisces, and the eclipse on March 3, 2026, will be at 12°54' Virgo. Happenings this week should reference back to important events that transpired during the first two weeks of September; they should also foreshadow significant developments that will unfold at the end of February and beginning of March 2026.
SABIAN SYMBOL: As we contemplate how best to navigate the energies of this week's powerful lunation, we can take clues from the Sabian symbol assigned to the fourteenth degree of Gemini: "Bridging physical space and social distinction, two people communicate telepathically; the capacity to transcend the limitations of bodily existence.”
Astrologer Dane Rudhyar sheds light on the meanings of this symbolic image: “An effort should be made to enter a realm of consciousness in which communication from mind to mind can take more direct form.” This image and its advice fit in nicely with the spiritual guidance provided by the North Node in Pisces, which encourages us to free our minds through meditation and self-reflection, and to surrender to the flow rather than overanalyzing or trying to control outcomes.
MARS OUT OF BOUNDS: Adding to the intensity of December, the planet Mars is "out of bounds" from November 27 to January 4. When a planet is OOB (more than 23°27' away from the plane of the ecliptic) its influence tends to be unpredictable or more extreme than usual.
When proactive Mars is OOB, people can be more assertive, and also more impulsive or reactive. With the Red Planet in Sagittarius, the courage of our convictions is very strong throughout the month. However, allowing anger to rule our actions can lead to reckless, aggressive, or shocking behaviors.
THE MOUNTAIN ASTROLOGER: As many of you know, I wrote the forecast column for the original Mountain Astrologer magazine from 2015 until it closed its doors in mid-2024. The publication was relaunched under new ownership in June 2025, and I am very pleased to announce that the new owner has invited me to return to the forecast desk! My first column will be in the December 2025 edition. The magazine is now a monthly online publication, available by subscription at mountainastrologer.com.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR: My first webinar of 2026 will be on Wednesday, January 7! The class will give an overview of the entire year, with special focus on January, February, and March. My working title is "A Great Unraveling and a Cosmic Reweaving." I will have a full description and registration link for you soon.
ASPECTS THIS WEEK: Here are my brief interpretations of this week's most important aspects, day by day:
Monday
Sun sesquiquadrate Jupiter, Sun sesquiquadrate Eris: Controversies and debates are in the spotlight as the Sun activates the effects of last week's Jupiter-Eris square. Some may be especially reactive, defensive, or self-righteous. Impulsive actions and rash behaviors are likely.
Venus opposite Sedna: Relationships and alliances are going through major transitions now. We are extremely aware of issues of betrayal, deception, and abuse.
Tuesday
Venus sextile Pluto: This insightful aspect helps us appraise the true value of a relationship or financial opportunity. It also encourages greater honesty and intimacy with loved ones.
Wednesday
No major aspects are exact today.
Thursday
Full Moon: The current lunar cycle, which began with a powerful Uranian New Moon on November 19, reaches its climax today at 3:13 p.m. PST. At that time, the Moon is at 13°03' Gemini, opposite the Sun at the same degree of Sagittarius, and square the nodal axis at 13°43' Pisces/Virgo.
Mercury quincunx Chiron: We may feel some insecurity in expressing our ideas, or feel that we are not being heard. This aspect reminds us to focus on self-care and to nurture and support the part of us that is afraid to speak its truth.
Friday
Sun square nodal axis: Some of the karmic lessons and completions involved in this week's Full Moon come to fruition today.
Mars trine Chiron: This aspect helps us to be in tune with our core needs and to feel more secure in stating our truth.
Saturday
Mercury trine Jupiter, Mercury quincunx Eris: Opinions are stated with great passion and our thoughts are strongly influenced by our emotions.
Venus sesquiquadrate Chiron: We may feel more sensitive than usual, which can cause us to create distance in relationships. Issues of self-worth could arise, requiring intentional self-care.
Sunday
Mars quincunx Jupiter, Mars trine Eris: There is a sense of urgency about taking action, especially in support of a cause.
Mercury trine Saturn: Communications involve a search for truth. Conversations are serious and purposeful.
Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter: The desire for immediate gratification is hard to ignore, and could result in unhealthy excesses.
IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: You are challenged this year to clearly know your personal truth, and yet at the same time be able to see the bigger picture and to let go of the human tendency to judge those with perspectives and beliefs that are different than yours. Lessons include being adaptable and trusting in positive outcomes rather than overanalyzing or trying to control a situation. Your spiritual practice will be extremely important at this time, helping you to surrender to the flow, to let go of anxiety, to stay in your heart center, and to gracefully allow changes to unfold. (Solar Return Sun square nodal axis)
In peace, love, and gratitude,
Pam
