A YEAR FROM NOW, as we look back on 2021, we will likely agree that January and February were the most definitive months of the year, and that this coming week was one of the most climatic weeks.

It will be very important to keep your spiritual/emotional support toolbox handy throughout the days ahead, as conditions will be very changeable. Meditate, breathe, be mindful, walk in nature, ground into the Earth, listen to uplifting music, call in your Divine Self, radiate love and light, and ask for the support of your angels, your guides, and the Great Ones who hold the energies of Love and Peace for all of humanity.

THE PLANET MARS is powerfully activated this week. Mars symbolizes our capacity for action, self-assertiveness, self-confidence, and courage. Mars is the positive knowing of ourselves as an individual with personal desires. It also provides us with the energy necessary to attain those desires.

But Mars is also the mythic god of War, representing a powerful, selfish drive to get what we want. Mars can be anger and rage, and even violence in the extreme. In this expression of the negative ego, our desire is so urgent that we don't care how it affects others.

WE ARE WORKING with two potent Mars aspects this week: Mars conjunct Uranus and Mars square Jupiter. With these aspects, each of us has the choice of whether to use the courage and self-confidence of higher-frequency Mars, or the ego-driven selfishness of its lower-vibrational counterpart.

We've already seen some of the underbelly of the beast, starting when Mars first entered Taurus on January 6. At that ingress, Mars began to activate the effects of its upcoming hard aspects to Saturn (January 13), Uranus (January 20), and Jupiter (January 22). In the events of that day, we see all three aspects at work: radical, surprising, extreme actions (Mars-Uranus); confrontations between individuals and social order (Mars-Saturn); and the magnification of desire and rage (Mars-Jupiter).

IF WE FOCUS SOLELY on those upsetting events, however, we miss half of the picture. I'm sure that most of us felt fear, dismay, and anger on that day. But the majority of us did not resort to violence as a way of releasing those emotions. Most of us eventually found our way to the higher potentials contained in the aspects. We found within us a new and stronger belief and faith (Mars-Jupiter), a new determination and purpose (Mars-Saturn), and a new desire to make a positive difference in the world, and to join with others who also embrace our higher vision for humanity (Mars-Uranus).

As we make our way through this week, let's find ways to use those new qualities and the higher potentials of these Mars aspects. Mars encourages action, but there are many ways to do this without gathering in the streets, which would be ill-advised during these pandemic days.

WE CAN TAKE ACTION by joining a group meditation for peace. We can increase our own meditation and prayer time. We can join with others in virtual reality to hold the intention for healing and harmony. We can call in our nonphysical support team and the Spirit of Peace to help us through this transition time. 

We can express courage by holding strong in our faith, by expressing love in small and large ways, by holding the energy of forgiveness, and by continuing to bridge the gap between ourselves and those with whom we disagree. These efforts take an amazing amount of courage and intention, even if it appears that we are not "doing" anything!

Tuesday

Sun enters Aquarius: The beginning of the month of Aquarius. A subtle shift of energies, encouraging us to embrace new potentials and to open our minds to alternate perspectives.

Wednesday

Saturn semisquare Neptune: A reality check. Idealism confronted by realism. Disillusionment.

Mars conjunct Uranus: Inspired action. The opportunity to become the change we want to see in the world. Alternately, erratic behavior and uncontrolled anger. Feeling restless, easily irritated, an urgent need for freedom. Possible climate or environmental disruptions (Taurus).

Thursday

Mercury semisquare Chiron: Misunderstandings, not feeling heard. 

Neptune conjunct Ceres: Increased compassion for our tribe and our planet Earth. A desire to be of service, to ease the suffering of others. Greater empathy and psychic sensitivity.

Friday

Saturn semisquare Ceres: Feeling blocked or limited in our ability to help others. Carrying the burden of others' suffering.

Mars square Jupiter: Overconfidence, false bravado, exaggerated egos.

Saturday

Sun semisquare Neptune: Challenges require that we let go of intellectual "knowing" and move into our hearts. 

Venus sextile Neptune: An opportunity to express compassion and understanding for others. Imagination enhanced. A good influence for artistic or creative projects. 

Sun conjunct Saturn: Getting down to business. Setting goals and establishing a new, more progressive agenda.

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: This year challenges you to find new ways to express and pursue your needs and desires. There is a strong restlessness and a tendency to react hastily, but you also realize how important it is to focus your energies if you truly want to accomplish your goals. This requires that you combine your progressive ideas with a knowing of what realistically can and will work. Once you harness and direct your energy, there is much you can achieve this year. (Solar Return Sun square Mars, conjunct Jupiter, conjunct Saturn, square Uranus)
