Morning Maca Elixir Energy Boost Recipe
Written by CrystalWind.ca

High in the Andes Mountains, there exists a cherished superfood that is known to boost energy and lift the spirits.
It is called Maca and has been used by indigenous communities in Peru tracing back over 5,000 years. Incan legend says that warriors depended upon this mighty plant for strength and ferocity in battle.
It is considered to be a fertility enhancer and aphrodisiac, partly due to the increased blood flow one experiences after ingesting it. Known to “get things going” in the romance department, this sacred plant was used during wedding rituals in ancient Andean culture.
Hardy enough to endure extreme climates, full of health-giving properties, revered for thousands of years… now that’s a sacred superfood.
Morning Maca Elixir
Ingredients
1 to 2 cups unsweetened almond milk (enough to cover the other ingredients)
¼ cup raw hemp protein powder
2 tablespoons chia seeds or flaxseeds
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 banana, or diced apple, pear, or mango
1½ tablespoons maca powder*
1 tablespoon wild honey (optional)
4 or 5 ice cubes
*You can find maca powder at health food stores or online.
Preparation
Place all the ingredients in a blender. Blend until the elixir reaches the desired consistency.
NOTE: If you want to add a little extra oomph to your smoothie, try adding a pinch of cayenne pepper. This bold spice is extremely good for blood circulation.
