Spirituality's Return To Nature
Category: Health Yourself Written by Sally Benson

The term nature spirituality refers to a belief in the interconnectedness of life throughout the universe. Earth-centered spirituality is a more narrow form of that belief. With so much going on, we sometimes lose touch with the world around us and cast nature to the side. Nature can bring perspective, focus, and clarity into life; consider getting back to nature to find balance and spirituality.
You Are Nature
In ancient cultures, nature played a large role in their belief systems. They understood that human beings were a part of nature, not separate from it. For today’s world, we don't have to have a return to a belief in animism, a philosophy that everything in nature has a soul or spirit dwelling within it; nature can be something as simple as sitting on a beach listening to the ocean waves.
Infusing Nature Into Life
A research survey done in 2017 reports that those who consider themselves spiritual spend a greater amount of time enjoying the outdoors in a week. When we lose sight of spirituality, getting away from it all by disconnecting from technology and reconnecting with nature can be the start of a new journey in life. Disconnecting allows us to appreciate nature, family, and friends, leading to a more well rounded life. It allows us to attain a better sleep pattern by getting away from the disruptive glare of a phone or computer.
Connecting to nature can be accomplished in many ways, from as something as simple as a hike in the woods to walk in a garden. Getting out into nature for a hike or visiting a cabin in the woods are great ways to get away from it all and back into nature. Spirituality can also be accomplished by bringing nature into your home through plants. Another option would be getting up early and watching the sun rise from your back porch. Like any set of beliefs, it’s still individual and includes many options.
Achieving Wellbeing
Moments of clarity acquired through our connectedness with nature, remind us of how we feel about the world and our role in it. It promotes wellbeing and let’s us be present now. Nature allows you to open your eyes and see beyond your immediate mindset and beliefs, but you must be able to open your soul to hear. Get back to nature, and become once more interconnected in your hearts, minds and spirit.
