The Weekly Rune ~ KENAZ REVERSED
For the week of 23 November 2015
Expansion comes around the corner, this week.
Nauthiz persists as the half-month rune, through 28 November. Read right to left is Nauthiz, followed by Kenaz reversed as the intuitive stave.
Following is a summary of The Weekly Rune.
The story presented through the Dead Time has been one of radical letting go. As we crested the peak of Nauthiz last week, we were asked to take a leap of faith. This week Kenaz asks us to drop the illusions that keep us stuck.
We’ve spent the last couple of weeks addressing Nauthiz as a crossroads. Through it, Nature gives us a seasonal opportunity to shed some aspect of life or self that no longer supports us. It is a built-in elemental support system to facilitate that outcome. Despite how challenging Nauthiz feels, it contains its release.
This is our greenlight. It may be one of the ugliest greenights ever, yet it is what it is.
I’ve said before, Nauthiz is the corner we must walk around, without knowing what lies beyond. We can’t back up, can’t go another direction. We can’t stand still. Kenaz reversed adds to that tension, in that it suggests an unconscious drive that is burning to burst through to consciousness. It is known. That tiny thought or instinct that skirts the edge of awareness, yet won’t blossom into a fully formed idea–invite it in, this week. Court it like the love of all of life, because in a way it is. It’s a part of ourselves that needs attention. More than that, it needs expression.
Allow personal process this week, however it manifests. Trust self. Trust the natural cycle that has been given to us as capable of handling whatever you bring. Line up the Dream Team of support. Make the phone calls you need to. Schedule the therapy sessions. Ring the shaman. Queue up Netflix. This will pass, because all things do. Stay active in the unfolding.
And keep in mind the co-worker or loved one losing it is going through the same thing.

Overview
Runes are a method of divination similar to the Tarot or the I Ching. The difference is that Runes are a set of 25 stones instead of 78 cards or a set of sticks with patterns. As with the Tarot, most of the Runes may be rightside up, or up side down, the meaning differing with the case. There are also some Runes that can not appear up side down. In practice, the Runes may be made of any material; ceramic, stones, sticks, or drawn on cards.

Runes originated with the ancient Etruscans and were spread upwards throughout the Alpine regions to Northern Europe via the trade routes. The Germanic tribes took them and adapted them to their own needs and uses. The oldest and most widespread of the Germanic runes are the Elder Futhark or Common Germanic Runes. The word rune, which occurs in various forms in Germanic and Celtic languages, means "a mystery" or "holy secret" that is "whispered".
Runes were traditionally carved into bone, wood or stone which accounts for their angular shape. The lack of curves made it easier to create the shapes in either hard wood or stone.
