2023 The Summer Solstice and Winter Solstice 21/22 June

I have been clearing memories as part of my healing journey. Here is what I wrote from about 25 years ago when I was doing Medicine Wheel workshops. “The Medicine Wheel is a symbol for the circle of life, forever evolving.

Its message is for each of us to find our personal medicine, learning to walk in balance within ourselves and our Mother Earth and to honour all life as Sacred. Medicine is anything that enhances your connection to Great Mystery and The Oneness. The healing of mind, body, and spirit leads to empowerment, strength and understanding, living your life to bring healing to Mother Earth and all her kingdoms. Walking your path in perfect harmony with The Universe”.

Solstice means sol-standing still. For four days around Solstice the Sun rises in the east at the approximately the same point and sets in the west at the same point. At Summer Solstice the Earth’s Northern Hemisphere is tilted toward the Sun. We have our longest day and shortest night. In the Southern Hemisphere the Earth is tilted away from the Sun and it is your Winter Solstice. Longest night and shortest day. It a time to celebrate the turning of The Wheel and the gifts we are offered.

Summer/Winter Solstices - 2021

In the Northern Hemisphere when the Sun enters Cancer on June 21 (10.58 am) we enter the season of Summer Solstice and the South Direction of our Medicine Wheel. The south is the place of Youth, experimenting, growth, and expansion. It is also the place of learning to listen to our intuitive guidance. Our Spirit Guide is Coyote, the trickster. He teaches us to be adaptable as we learn new ways of being. He also teaches us through his trickster energy not to take ourselves too seriously and find joy in life.

In the Southern Hemisphere when the Sun enters Cancer on June 21/22 you enter Winter Solstice, the North Direction on your Medicine Wheel. It is the place of solitude, stillness, and translating knowledge into wisdom. It is the place of The Elder and sharing the wisdom gained. In the Native American Medicine Wheel the Spirit Guide for the north is Buffalo, prayer, abundance, and gratitude. But I also see Whale as your Spirit Guide for the North. Whale offers you the opportunity to discover your unique Soul song and sing it. Whale guides you as you dive deep within and discover your special wise self.

Cancer

While the Sun visits Cancer (21 June to July 22/23) the Astrological Earth visits Capricorn. The theme is home, roots and origins, ancestral wisdom, and being empowered in the World by being our true selves. The Animal Totem guide for the Cancer Sun is Flicker Woodpecker who guides us through life’s transitions with all healing love. Flickers drumming connects us to our heart’s wisdom. Our guide for the Earth in Capricorn is Goose. This Winged One teaches us to let our imagination fly and live our hopes, dreams, and visions. They are reversed for the Southern Hemisphere.

Moon in Leo

In the Solstice chart the Moon is at 08 degrees of Leo. She is the guide for the Cancer Sun. They are visiting each other’s home signs and are in Mutual Reception. The Moon in Leo asks us to be centered in our compassionate heart in all our relating. Leo’s gift is creation energy and the strength and courage to be our true selves.

I did have more to say but the rest of what I wrote magically disappeared. Sending all blessings for a wonderful journey ahead.

Namaste,

Dale
