Mercury is the planet of communication. We all rely on many different forms of communication to get through our daily lives. When Mercury turns retrograde or appears to be going backwards in its motion then our lives take on a different energy and speed.

Some people are much more aware of the subtle changes going on around them in their daily lives as the planet Mercury (or more affectionately known as ‘The Trickster’) starts to influence our lives more.

Classic Mercury Retrograde Signs:

• Poor listening skills of the people you are communicating with.
• People don’t understand what you are saying.
• Mixed up or wrong messages that people are taking for you.
• Mixed emotions and unclear lines of communication or speech.
• Tempers can be more volatile, especially when others are not listening.
• Lost or undelivered e-mails, letters or faxes.
• Strange phone calls or crossed phone lines.
• Phone lines go down or just don’t work.
• Computer glitches or breakdowns.
• Parcels and orders just vanish with no explanation.
• Changes to travel plans without warning, including lost luggage.

Things to avoid when Mercury is Retrograde:

• Signing important documents
• Sending important mail or parcels.
• Important meetings where you need other people to listen.
• Making major purchases or large investments.
• Discussing relationship issues or problems with a partner.
• Trying to get children to understand changes in their lives.

Luckily for us Mercury usually only goes Retrograde 3 times a year for approximately 3 weeks at a time.

Just plan ahead for Mercury Retrograde and you can minimise the disruption to your life. Time for slowing down a little and just chilling out with a good book, watching a movie or just relaxing. It is the perfect time to look at your life and where it is heading. Are you on track for what you wanted to achieve this year?

If not then start looking at how you can improve your life now. It’s a perfect time for research and gathering information for future needs. Just don’t sign anything or make definite changes in your life until Mercury goes direct again.
