The Breathtaking Web of Life

The Breathtaking Web of LifeChief Seattle’s Grave, Daniel M. Short

Man does not weave the web of life. He is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself….All things are bound together. All things connect ~ Chief Seattle, Suquamish Tribe

It can be easy to despair over the state of our planet today. It doesn’t matter what we’re talking about—politics, the environment, cruelty to all life forms, etc.

As an antidote to all that, one of my favorite personal practices is to simply regularly spend time in a natural setting. Since I live in a remote area of the Rocky Mountains, that’s easy to do. But even if you live in a big city, there are always ways to connect with Mother Nature. City parks are generally a good choice.

Spending time in nature is a powerful reminder of the innate power of our planet to heal itself. Even human destruction of our natural resources, given time, will be healed.

The world’s ancient peoples (including America’s native cultures) knew that. And, of course, they honored, and still honor, our planet and its web of life.

As a human race, we have mostly forgotten the wisdom of these natives. We have forgotten what Chief Seattle said, above. We are merely one strand in the web of life. We are not the center of the universe. And we need to honor, love, and nurture that web of life, every part of it.

Spirit

All life forms are energy and vibration. So too are what you call “inanimate” creations. They are all just as “alive” as that physical body you currently occupy.

Nothing you ever do or say or think can be done in a vacuum. It all powerfully affects the entire planet.

Each of you is connected to all creation. That is not simply a nice concept. It’s a fact.

Your energy, or vibration, whether expressed in words, actions, or thoughts, is always moving out into your environment. First, into your immediate surroundings, then to everything nearby, and finally out to the entire planet.

The Powerful Effects of Energy

Whatever the character of your energy, it cannot get “stuck” at its source—in this case, you and your physical body. You can slow it down, which is often the cause of physical and emotional disruptions and disease. But you cannot stop it.

Every kind thought you have will touch another person—or plant or animal or even an “inanimate” object— and positively change it. Every good or kind deed you do will touch someone or something. All you do affects all that is.

When you pay attention to all we’re saying here today, you will notice an expanding compassionate awareness within yourself. With that will come a deeper sense of connection with yourself, your loved ones, your friends, even your enemies. Ultimately, that compassion will extend to all that is.

Each and every one of you are one with all that is. It cannot be otherwise. It has always been so, but only now are you becoming fully aware of that oneness.

This beautiful short video was produced by two Roman Catholic Jesuit priests, Arnel Aquino and R.B. Hizon with their musical partner, Veepee Pinpin. (I graduated from a Jesuit college years ago. Although I’m no longer Catholic, there’s a special place in my heart for the Jesuits. I learned much about life from them.)

In this video, the musical trio highlight the breathtaking beauty of the web of life.

In the early 1980s, John took a spiritual development course and was introduced to his first spirit guide, Lydia. After Lydia arrived, three other guides also came to him: Archangel Michael, Tamarra, and Chief Joseph. Today these are John’s four main guides.
Besides his four main ones, John has various other guides. The entire group is really a multidimensional collective consciousness. John refers to the entire group simply as “Spirit.” Source
