After All
After math,
after logic,
after reason
and its stands,
after the second
guessing, helping,
chance after chance,
the third eye adjusting
to the sixth sensing,
after time, no time,
after separation,
—its partitions,
after no things
—nothingness,
after pain and
long suffering,
after knowing
and the denial
of what cannot
ever be known,
after deaths of
self as pictured
behind shut lids,
after dreams, the
days of dreaming,
after beliefs end
fixed believing,
after happily
ever after,
once upon,
after shadow,
shadow work,
after night falls,
after day breaks,
after births of lives
merged in promises,
steeped in possibilities,
after offense and offending
and defense, defending, bury
the hatchet on zero sum gaming,
after the mad and the sad, the glad
have been expressed and felt and loved,
after the imagination unearths its compass,
after the rivers have come back home to their
oceans, their clouds, their mountains—streams,
after control's relinquished its need to control,
after the winter has had its long, deep, dark
sleep, birthing its sap, rising up to spring,
after duality’s curriculum of opposition
has coalesced into harmonic melody,
after the future, which was nothing
but the past looping its prologue,
teaching survival to let go, thrive,
after sovereignty is birth-righted
and restored to native authority,
after noon—high, bright, above,
no casting of shady reflections,
after we’ve dared to peer into
the vast void, found its gold,
after we grasp that peace is
not a mooring but a current,
after conflict's surrendered
its need to resist, and exist,
after wonder splits us open
within grounding out there
letting the heart break out
of its solitary confinement
reclaiming lost innosense
in this sacred communion
where love and light play,
without condition, cause,
after vicious cycles cede
to life’s virtuous spirals,
after saying and doing
until there is no more
to say, to be done,
we will breathe.
We will...still.
We will be
free to be
just you
