The December 2023 Full Moon of 5 Capricorn-Cancer Pt. 2

The December 2023 Full Moon of 5 Capricorn-Cancer Pt. 2

Sabian Symbols Showing the Light of A Forceful Awakening Expressed In Karmic Adjustments.

As most of you know, the December 2020 Solstice conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at 1 Aquarius launched new 20 and 200 year eras. This Lunation helps us mobilize as we deepen our faith to be led to the light.

I’ll speak more about the bigger picture after the Sabian Symbols. For now, let’s take a closer look at this activating, initiating, productive, stabilizing, and freeing Full Moon occurring at 4:33 pm PST on December 27 at 5 Capricorn/Cancer.

This will bring light and opportunities to expand and solidify our ability to cooperate with “invisible help when human efforts seem to fail.” This will be exceptionally favorable for all planets we have in the first decan of Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces. Even if things get disrupted somehow, or there are unexpected forces “curbing recklessness,” this period is about going deeper into our spiritual magnetism and “putting on a show” in a disciplined, efficient way.

As this Full Moon has Sun in Capricorn and Moon in Cancer, the Light of an organized expression of power can be expressed through Cancer’s cautious capturing of what it needs to feel supplied and secure. This is the Light of responsible action expressed through the sensitivity to what we care about in the moment.

Because Capricorn/Cancer is the axis of the archetype of the Innocent, we can see the honest truth about anything we want to. With Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius, we can now look back with a sense of humor, objectivity, and dispassion, knowing that we’ve attained a level of “harmony of fulfilled selfhood” this past year and are no longer burdened with old duties and responsibilities. Mercury retrograde continues to bring us echoes of the past, a new understanding of our dedication, and a new way of approaching the Light of enlightened action.

The Sun in Earth and the Moon in Water shows a time of the Cardinal Earth (practical initiatives) of Capricorn expressing its need for organized effective action through the Cardinal Water (active feelings) of Cancer. This continues a run of Full Moon themes of getting clear on the actional and material levels of our existence.

At this time, 4 planets are in the first third of their sign, 1 planet is in the second third of their signs, and 5 planets are in the last third of their signs. This indicates a slight emphasis on the individual, mental, and spiritual levels of life over the actional-material levels, with only Uranus bringing energies related to the social/emotional levels of life. Of note is the Spiritual Triad occupying the end of their signs, approaching the completion of their many years in each.

Why Are Full Moons So Important?

At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.

That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.

Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. We are now in a time of the year when the inner planets have finished opposing the outer planets. In this chart there is only one opposition involving the Full Moon. This creates an “awareness generator” focused between 3-7 Cancer/Capricorn.

Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?

The Sun is in Capricorn, making Saturn in Pisces its ruler. The Moon is in Cancer, making her the ruler of herself. Mercury in Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter in Taurus, which is ruled by Venus in Scorpio, which is ruled by Mars in Sagittarius, also ruled by Jupiter. Saturn in Pisces is ruled by Jupiter, Uranus in Taurus is ruled by Venus, Pluto is ruled by Saturn, and as usual, Neptune is a “standalone” planet, ruling itself.

That makes Venus, Mars, and Jupiter the main players in this chart, as they form a “chain of dispositors” which rule all the other planets except for the Moon and Neptune who are “final dispositors.” By looking at how “chains of dispositors,” “final dispositors,” and “mutual reception” are in play between the planets, we get a clear picture of the backdrop for how each planet operates. You can find out more about dispositors in general, chains of dispositors, and mutual reception by going to Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?

The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames

Venus in Scorpio is very powerful as the leading planet in the Bowl and the ruler of both Jupiter and Uranus. This will make Her very powerful through the first few months of 2024. In this chart She is highly magnetic and in favorable aspect to both Neptune and Pluto, harmonizing planets we have in the last few degrees of the Earth and Water signs.

If you want to know more about how to shape your Venus power to attract better friends and relations in the future, please consider getting your copy of my book The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames It is the most comprehensive book on Venus ever written, and explains why we attract who we do and how to create more satisfying relationships in the future. You will understand the foundations of long term healthy relationships and friendships, why Soul Mates come into our lives, and learn how to shape your attractive power to have better times with better people in the future. Even if you’re not looking for a partner, this book will explain why certain people with certain traits came into your life and what they taught you about yourself.

It has chapters on the qualities of each sign’s natural mate, the qualities of Venus in each sign, and when crucial choices and changes are made, affecting who we attract in the future. It was written for both astrologers and lay people, and as it has a thousand gems for better relationships, with self, others, and Source, please consider getting your copy by going to the link above! (And when you’re done, please leave a review on Amazon, since it helps the book and all other books on astrology as well!)

The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon

This Full Moon falls at 5 Capricorn and 5 Cancer. It is said that the first third (decan) of any sign deals with the actional, material, and physical levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the first decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Capricorn (Saturn with an added dose of Jupiter) and Cancer (the Moon with an added dose of Venus).

Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.

The Solar degree symbol for the 5th degree of Capricorn is “Indians rowing a canoe.” In the original Marc Jones class notes on the symbols published in The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this is a degree of “mobilization of latent energies for determined self-exertion,” “obsession by elemental forces,” and “violent awakening to reality.”

We are told in The Astrological Mandala that this symbolizes "the mobilization of physical and emotional energies in a spirit of conquest.” He offers that the symbol can be associated with a tribal mobilization of a “common will” to establish common tribal goals. The original symbol did not speak of war, so I believe it’s more apt to focus on the theme of group solidarity in dynamic situations.

He states “group-life demands constant activity and challenges in order to remain healthy,” and suggests assertiveness can activate “the potential of growth inherent in any social group.” He says it falls in the span of "Illusiveness” and it’s the culminating degree in the actional level of the scene of Crystallization in the Act of Capitalization.

According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, this degree is one of “the irresistible impulse to action inherent in the very fact of conscious being,” and of our ability to accomplish the fulfillment of our motives in a “personal focus.” He speaks of “the primitive nature of Life at root,” and our need to remember to be “thoroughly practical” as “immediate considerations” present themselves, reordering what we need to in the moment.

He offers us the keyword MOBILIZATION. He states when operating in a positive way, this symbol represents “a capacity for aggressive leadership and an unusual effectiveness in sidetracking minor issues for the sake of major achievement.”

The Lunar degree symbol for the 5th degree of Cancer is “An automobile wrecked by a train.” In the original Jones notes published in The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this symbolizes “individual man is brought to account for his obligations to society,” “curbed recklessness,” and “tragic escape from emptiness.”

In The Astrological Mandala, he states this degree is about "the tragic results which are likely to occur when the individual’s will pits itself carelessly against the power of the collective will of society.” He says the auto “symbolizes individualized consciousness eager to pursue its own course of action regardless of how it may conflict the the collective consciousness of the community (the train).

He continues that these “individual and relatively anarchistic or law-defying attempts are bound to fail.” He also says that “most of the time man learns his lessons through relatively destructive experiences,” and that this symbol is one of “Karmic Readjustment.” He states this degree falls in the Span of Expansion, Act of Stabilization, and is the fulfillment degree of the Scene of Decision on the Actional level.

Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, says this is a degree of “the irresistible power of completion inherent in the very make-up of (our) world whenever a sequence of events once is set in motion.” He offers this is about “the concept of control, or the assurance that it is not necessary to continue any given action to the point of self-cancellation.”

He continues “the ultimate obligation of the individual is to himself, and not to the narrow and momentary direction of circumstances. He gives us the keyword DISPERSION, and goes on to state that when operating positively, the degree is “a special genius for a creative reorganization of all experience.”

From these symbols it seems the Light of this Full Moon will help us see the Light of Divine Effectiveness mobilizing each of us to do some form of group work, seeing immediate necessities and taking the lead if we have to. This will find expression in some sort of “karmic readjustment,” where we can change course in some way, or see how we’ve escaped some sort of potential wreckage.

This is the Light of accepted power or responsibility expressing itself in a crucial repudiation of the past so that all that has been can feed the future. There is great benefit in mobilizing to achieve some social goal or fulfill a responsibility or duty to prepare for a great explosion of Aquarian energy in February!

We’re in an Era of Overlapping Capricorn and Aquarius Cycles

As you know by now, we had numerous important long wave conjunctions in January 2020 which were set into motion in March 2020, including a 12 year cycle and a 33 year cycle! Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all made conjunctions in Capricorn in January and March 2020 which were activated by Mars in March 2020. Mars completed its run at its conjunction with Saturn at 1 Aquarius which also set long wave preliminary Aquarian structures into play which are expanding and currently taking shape for the next 16-17 years.

We’re seeing the competition between the Capricorn and Aquarian cycles play out in the world between the regressives and the progressives, between the forces of control and the forces which resist control, and between the materialists and the idealists. The Capricorn cycles will be in play for many years to come, but by mid-century they will wane while the Aquarian cycles will have become dominant.

That “Great Compression” of planets in early 2020 created a very crowded house in a very narrow span of degrees, impacting where we have late Capricorn for many years to come. Add the three conjunctions of Jupiter with Pluto as it transited back and forth over the January and March degree points, and we’ve had a lot of long wave Pluto energies expanded which will show effects over the next decade! If you’re wondering how this Great Compression and those to come will impact us, please check out the linked articles on the bottom of Part 1 of this series published yesterday.

TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption

I’ve included this section for many years to keep you all aware of the workings of Divine Mother on our Earth in this Age in Transition. Rather than simply reprint it each month, I created this material as a separate article unto itself a while back. If you want to know more about the vast spiritual field coaxing us toward a great redemption of the promise of Life itself, please take a new look at TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Spiritual Lessons of 2023. We have now returned to a time where we redeem much through using our imagination to envision a higher way of life and a more natural connection to the Earth.

*********

At the 2020 World Teacher Full Moon of Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius I gave you a universal prayer/meditation offered to us by the Tibetan Master D.K. in April 1945 at the end of the war. Tens of millions around the world do this prayer every Full Moon, tuning into the Whole which we ALL are together. I said it every day for many years, and still say it every Full Moon. (It was a real trip to see eyes suddenly open and/or lightbulbs go on over people’s heads when I did it countless times riding the NYC subways when I lived there in the early 80s!)

In 1976 I changed a few words to make it more universal. For your consideration,

The Great Invocation

From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of All,
Let Light descend on Earth

From the point of Love within the heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of All
May Christ return to Earth

From the center where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little Wills of All
The Purpose which the Masters know and serve

From the center which we call the Human Race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

Again, as I’ve offered you many times before, when you see the title "The Christ" if you are so inclined please substitute "World Teacher," "Bodhisattva," "Imam Madhi," "Krishna," “Kristos,” "Avalokiteshvara," "Maitreya," "Messiah," or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And if you substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” I doubt it would offend anyone.

See you soon with part 3 covering aspects, planetary sequencing, and other important factors in this Full Moon.
