We continue our run of months of no oppositions other than those made by the Moon when it’s in Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, and Scorpio. This makes the Moon extraordinarily important as the “nozzle” to express all the other planetary energies! The current Great Compression has brought us a very crowded house, soon to get even more crowded as Mars approaches its conjunction with Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn in March. As the Full Moon fulfills the themes of the previous New Moon, we now can take the “Light of our ancestral wisdom giving us power” we’ve been experiencing the New Moon, and willingly act on a greater vision of a greater good for a greater number. As with last month, Saturn rules center stage, and will teach us about the World Soul through a “lightness of understanding,” “inexhaustible Soul resources,” and “transcendence of Spirit over body and environment.”

The Sun in Air and the Moon in Fire shows a time of the Fixed Air (stable associative interactivity) of Aquarius expressing its synthesized vision of a greater ideal through the Fixed Fire (stable active inspiration) of Leo. As all the planets are approaching maximum compression, we continue to be squeezed in many ways, with everything converging in the part of our chart between late Sagittarius and early Taurus. We enter a time of individual, mental, and spiritual understanding as authors of the wisdom of our experience.

In this chart, 3 planets are in the first third of their signs, 4 planets are in the second third of their signs, and 3 planets are in the last third of their signs. This is a balanced distribution, with slightly more social and emotional emphasis, with a balance between actional-material and individual, mental, and spiritual energies.

Why Are Full Moons So Important?

At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.

That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.

Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. As there is only one opposition in this Full Moon, it puts the evolutionary “Tension of Opposites” at work wherever we have 18-22 Leo and Aquarius.

As I noted earlier, we’re now past all the oppositions of the inner planets and Mars to the outer planets. From now until Mars opposes Pluto in May 2020, there will be no more planetary oppositions except those made by the Moon. After that, the inner planets will begin their oppositions to the outer planets beginning July 2020.

Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?

The Sun is in Aquarius, making Saturn its worldly ruler and Uranus its spiritual ruler. Saturn is in Capricorn, making it the ruler of all the planets in Capricorn and Aquarius, and therefore the final dispositor of that chain of rulerships. The Moon in Leo is ruled by the Sun, so it too is subject to Saturn’s influence. So this Lunation continues Saturn’s two year dominance of center stage as a primary “final dispositor.”

This month we are back to two “final dispositors” in Saturn and Neptune. [A final dispositor is a planet in one of the signs it rules.] This month Saturn is the final ruler of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, itself, Uranus, and Pluto, while Neptune continues its “standalone” spiritual rulership of Pisces.

Here I’ll explain that Mercury in Pisces is ruled by Jupiter in the material world, and Neptune in the spiritual realm. So is Mars in Sagittarius. So planets in Sagittarius and Pisces are split between Jupiter’s influence and Neptune’s influence. Since Jupiter is sextile Neptune, it brings productivity to those planets in both realms of expression.

By looking at how “chains of dispositors,” “final dispositors,” and “mutual reception” are in play between the planets, we get a clear picture of the backdrop for how each planet operates. The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon

This Full Moon falls at 20 Aquarius and 20 Leo. It is said that the second third (decan) of any sign deals with the social, emotional, and cultural levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the second decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Gemini and Sagittarius.

Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.

The Solar degree symbol for the 20th degree of Aquarius is "A big white dove, a message bearer.” In the original Jones class notes from The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this is a degree of "the blessing of every effort by the ‘Holy ghost’ of revealed significance,” “exaltation of all individual efforts,” and “celebrity.”

In The Astrological Mandala he states the keynote is "the answer of spiritual agencies to thorough, sustained and victorious individual efforts.” He says this is the fulfillment that comes, along with a message from Spirit, whenever we have “courageously and with indomitable spirit” gone through some crisis. He also offers that this is a degree of finding peace after some accomplishment, where we may see a blessing pointing us to the future.

He continues that “every real spiritual victory (we take) in our development is the result of a victory over forces of inertia or destruction, and that “what the ‘message’ is depends on the particular situation, but the white dove always signifies peace; at the very heart of this peace is the certification of individual worth and victory.” He says it falls in the span of Perspective and is the culmination degree on the Actional level of Management in the Act of Capitalization.

According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, this degree is a symbol of our “recognition of a transcendental or superior wisdom” from which we can “receive inspiration and assurance,” based in “inner faith” where our “ever-constructive attitude of mind” can strengthen us. He offers “there are always secret signs of divine favor for a faithful heart, and they are no less real because the reason is able to dismiss them as a mere oversensitiveness to the prompting of a wholly naïve insight.”

He offers us the keyword CONVICTION. We are told that when positive, the degree is "a facility for ordering all personal desires in a cosmic framework and a gift for knowing when to act and what to do.”

This implies that during the next two weeks the Light will lead us to see the messages from Spirit blessing our efforts and encouraging us to continue to even greater ability to manage energy in social situations. We will see the Light of a victory over inertia, and find inspiration and assurance in a “transcendental or superior wisdom.” Be faithful in your convictions, and you’ll know exactly what to do and when.

The Lunar degree symbol for the 20th degree of Leo is “The Zuni sun worshippers.” In the original notes from the Marc Jones class on the symbols published in The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this degree is one of “(our) instinctive or traditional call upon basic life energies for sustainment,” “sense of fitness in behavior,” and “worship.”

In The Astrological Mandala, he says this degree involves “a return to the glorification of natural energies,” where we see a “return to nature” and “glorify the Sun” as an antidote to “civilized living in artificial cities.” He states the “American Pueblo Indian has been for the weary city dweller and the dried-up intellectual a symbol of this ‘return to nature,” and now has become “an exemplar of peaceful and harmonious group living.”

He continues, offering this symbol “brings us the image of a reversal of our socialized activity and opens for us the way to the deepest release of our long-denied root energies,” where we can link ourselves consciously “to the source of all life on Earth,” meaning “identification through worship – and the sanctification of the creative power.” He states this falls in the Span of Interpretation and is the fulfillment of the actional level of Release in the Act of Stabilization.

According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, the degree is one of our “recognition of higher and natural forces from which (we receive) our life and strength” through our “everyday ritualization of (our) loyalties” and our “preservation of older values in any evolution of new ones.” He says we are “endowed by custom with an effective assurance” centered in ourselves and others, and we have “self-fulfillment as (we are) true to (our) group tradition.

He offers the keyword FIDELITY. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is “an inner and absolute realization of the self’s illimitable resources in situation and background.”

From these symbols it seems the next two weeks will bring us all concrete messages from Spirit which will encourage us, expressed as our ability to reconnect with the sources of Life through past and present rituals. Call on Life Energies to revitalize yourself as you see the Light of being blessed by Spirit. This is the Light of Synthesis expressing itself in heartfelt, creative ways. It's the Light of management expressed as the form of release.

TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption

At the World Teacher Full Moon of Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius I gave you a universal prayer/meditation offered to us by the Tibetan Master D.K. in April 1945 at the end of the war. Tens of millions around the world do this prayer every Full Moon, tuning into the Whole which we ALL are together. I said it every day for many years, and still say it every Full Moon. (It was a real trip to see eyes suddenly open and/or lightbulbs go on over people’s heads when I did it countless times riding the NYC subways when I lived there in the early 80s!)

In 1976 I changed a few words to make it more universal. For your consideration,

The Great Invocation

From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of All,
Let Light descend on Earth

From the point of Love within the heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of All
May Christ return to Earth

From the center where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little Wills of All
The Purpose which the Masters know and serve

From the center which we call the Human Race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

Again, as I’ve offered you many times before, when you see the title "The Christ" if you are so inclined please substitute "World Teacher," "Bodhisattva," "Imam Madhi," "Krishna," “Kristos,” "Avalokiteshvara," "Maitreya," "Messiah," or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And if you substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” I doubt it would offend anyone.
