To let go means to give up coercing, resisting, or struggling, in exchange for something more powerful and wholesome which comes out of allowing things to be as they are without getting caught up in your attraction to or rejection of them. - Jon Kabat-Zinn
As with all Full Moons, emotions that are usually tucked away under the surface of our consciousness bubble to the surface at this time. The more repressed they are, the stronger our feelings. Eclipses add a mega charge to them, and also challenge our ability to see what the feelings are all about, adding to the emotional confusion.
This eclipse is a particularly powerful one, as it comes at the same time as other energetic shifts in the skies, which will peak on Sunday. The more conscious we are about what’s going on within us, the more we can work with the energies - so best to keep grounded at all times, as this maintains our inner connection with ourselves.
‘Cancer’ takes us back to our relationships with our family of origin, as well as our current family connections. It’s also about our sense of self-nurturing within, which starts with attachment very early in life. Hence, some of the emotions surfacing today may be pre-verbal. Expressing ourselves creatively is the easiest way to access them, and to form a safe and loving container within ourselves. We don’t need to be Michelangelo to doodle, or W. B Yeats to write a poem or a short story! Expression is key right now, so do reach out if you can and talk to people you trust, or journal…
Old patterns and structures are breaking down on all levels, making space for new ones to seed and flourish in time. The breaking down part is the least comfortable if we struggle to let go. Letting go literally means ‘letting go’ – not holding on – there is nothing we need to do to let go – we just stop doing and holding onto something or someone. For anyone who is a natural caretaker and a ‘doer and fixer’ since early in life, this can feel challenging, yet also a huge relief. It’s like releasing a breath when we realize we have been holding onto it! Our whole body relaxes…
Lots of gentleness and self-care with ourselves and each other as we navigate these very interesting times, and it helps to be curious as a child as to what’s unfolding around us - we’re all on a new adventure! More on the Saturn/Pluto conjunction over the next couple of days! MG
