- Concentration Leads us to Healing and Balanced Understanding -
This Full Moon of Sun in Aries and Moon in Libra offers potential for healing on multiple levels, and shows us Jupiter’s stationary direct themes which will dominate the latter part of the year. Compare knowledge, and trust your instincts after weighing and balancing all factors.
So what can we expect from the Lunation? This initiating, active, movable, productive, and stabilizing Full Moon happens at 11:48 am PDT, 6:48 pm GMT on March 28 on the 9th degree of Aries and Libra. This will help move us all in more valuable and pleasant new directions as we move into new relationships and new ways of seeing our Higher Self. This one takes the clarity we’ve found since the New Moon and helps us move into a more active trust in our ability to steer a course of our own choosing. This New Moon gives new power and initiative as we continue to steer our “ship of personality” to the safe harbor of our higher destiny.
As with all Full Moons, use the light you’ve been seeing and expressing since the New Moon, and give it form and focus to see how to anchor those themes in expression. The New Moon’s theme was related to getting closure while finding and focusing divine compassion to eliminate any confusion or ambivalence related to the new larger vision unfolding since the Grand Mutation at 1 Aquarius at the 2021 December Solstice. As the rulers of the Sun and Moon are in sextile, this promises a very productive launch of new activities.
Continuing the theme that proceeds at each Full Moon as they move through each polarity, this one is the ninth of a series where the previous New Moon Sun is in a different sign than this Full Moon Sun. We can now take the “light of a new technique of social and/or emotional perpetuation” since the New Moon, and now apply it to new techniques of doing our Being in new social vistas.
Today’s Full Moon post will be an overview of the Lunation and some of its primary qualities. In parts 2 and 3 we’ll cover the Sabian Symbols, aspects, distributions, and patterns.
We’re now officially launched into a new 20 year and 200 year era! We “graduated into a new realm of being” last May, navigated the nonstop storms of July through October, and now have the momentum aiming us toward a greater social contribution which can outlive us. In 2019 and 2020 we built the structures which we’ll use in 2021 and 2022 to grow into a greater contribution to our world and lives.
The 2020 Eclipses moved us all in new directions, reorienting wherever we have 1 Cancer, and removing blocks to our happiness wherever we have 24 Sagittarius. Remember that all Eclipses are “Cosmic recyclers,” taking away what is obsolete or de-magnetized in our lives. These losses clean out psychic and physical spaces so newer life substance can come forth. We’ve cleared out many old ideas, truths, habits, and perspectives since last Summer, and now have a wider view and deeper ways of regarding our life and the Life around us at the beginning of a new Aquarian era for humanity.
This is the fourth Full Moon with Jupiter in Aquarius! Having completed its year in Capricorn, Jupiter is now racing forward, expanding the Aquarian energies which are being structured by Saturn over the next two years. This Full Moon brings forms of training which will help us build an adequate vehicle to “pick up and deliver higher power” in mid-April, late August and early September, and late November and early December.
As you know from other articles, 2020 was the last year of a 200 year Earth era, with Air power building throughout the year which primed the pump for the 200 year Air era which began on the Solstice with Jupiter conjuncting Saturn at 1 Aquarius. However, we will still be “under the beams” of last year’s powerful conjunctions in Capricorn, since between January and March 2020 we began new Saturn/Pluto, Jupiter/Pluto, Mars/Jupiter, Mars/Pluto, and Mars/Saturn cycles. The first of these launched a new 33 year era into motion.
Due to these conjunctions in late Capricorn and both Mars/Saturn and Jupiter/Saturn in Aquarius, we are in a long term period of finding wisdom by understanding transfiguration and enlightenment as verbs rather than nouns. We’ve now officially taken the first step into the coming Aquarian era. While this is not yet “The Age of Aquarius,” this is the final intensification of those energies which will sprout seeds in the second quarter of the century which will take us across the threshold of the Great Age soon after 2050.
Is the Sun Following the Moon, or the Moon Following the Sun?
There are two patterns; one is when the Full Moon Sun is the same sign as the previous New Moon Sun, and the other is when the Full Moon Sun is in the next sign from the Sun in the previous New Moon. Since August we’ve been in the latter phase.
We’ve had the Sun in the same sign in both the New Moon and Full Moon, the so-called “natural” order, between April 2019 and August 2020. At August’s Full Moon we entered the “reverse pattern” of the Sun of the Full Moon occupying the sign after the New Moon Sun, since the previous New Moon Sun was at 29 Cancer and that Full Moon Sun was at 12 Leo. The New Moon Sun two weeks ago was at 24 Pisces and this Full Moon Sun is at 9 Aries.
The last time we experienced this reverse order began at the August 2017 Solar Eclipse in late Leo and lasted until April 2019, when the Sun was in Aries in the New Moon as well as the subsequent Full Moon. The reversed pattern we just entered will last until August 2021, when we return to the natural order with the New Moon Sun at 17 Leo and the Full Moon Sun at 30 Leo/Aquarius.
Since the New Moon offers us seeds in the first half of the month’s lunar cycle, and fulfillment in the second half, we now are in a sequence with the “Seed Light” of Pisces coming to Full Moon illumination through the current Sun in Aries and Moon in Libra. You can learn more about the recent New Moon at 24 Pisces by checking out those two articles posted 2 weeks ago.
In this Full Moon, the span occupied by the inner planets (in this chart Mercury at 20 Pisces and the Sun, Venus, and Chiron at 9 Aries) is 19+ degrees. This month we see all the inner planets moving through Pisces and Aries. Leaving out the Lunar position, we continue to see the occupied span widen, moving from 121+ degrees a few weeks ago to 137+ now. Given the Moon is at the far side of the occupied span, we again have a Bucket Jones Pattern, with the primary focus created by SIX planets between 12 Aquarius and 9 Aries.
We’re now done with the first year of the short and long wave cycles set into motion by Great Compression conjunctions in Capricorn in January and March 2020. We had two Great Compressions in Capricorn; one in February 2019, and one which hit maximum compression in March 2020. These brought us “Bundle” Jones patterns, with everything bundled in a very narrow span this year, creating a crowded house wherever we have Capricorn through Taurus. Because of the recent Great Compression in Aquarius, the Bundle pattern again predominates whenever the Moon is between Capricorn and mid-Gemini until May when Mars enters Cancer and begins creating a Bowl pattern.
Because of all the planets clustered in such a narrow span, it means the Moon is the primary determiner of the Jones Pattern, since it creates several different energy patterns along the way as the closing planet, nozzle, and opening planet for the rest of the planetary energies. This is the fifth Full Moon where it’s outside the outer planet occupied zone, since Libra is on the far side of the Capricorn to Gemini span.
At this time we have the 10 traditional planets occupying 7 signs. Currently, the outer planet occupied span begins with Pluto in late Capricorn, then moves through Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius, then Neptune in Pisces and finishes with Uranus in Taurus, with the inner planets now occupying Pisces and Aries with Mars in mid-Gemini. In this chart Pluto is again the entry planet to the occupied outer planet span between Cap and Taurus, which will be a feature for many years to come except when the Moon, inner planets, or Mars are in Sagittarius or early Capricorn. Transformation time!
As noted, the Jones patterns in the sky now change mainly due to the position of the Moon. With this Full Moon in Libra far away from the bundled planets, we again have a Bucket Jones pattern.
The Bucket Pattern and how it works
Because the Bucket pattern has been in play during the times the Moon has been in Leo, Virgo and Libra, we’ve been challenged to use the Moon to express the energies of the Bundle between late Capricorn and mid-Gemini. In the Bucket, the Moon acts as the “handle,” or nozzle for focusing the energies of the rest. The handle, or focal determinator, represents the way to greater effectiveness, the cause to be embraced, the lack to be filled, or the way to use the total energies of this time in a focused manner.
Dr. Jones states “the Bucket type indicates a particular and rather uncompromising direction in the life effort.” This pattern gives “interest in a cause,” with executive tendencies that will adapt allegiances to maximize results of the effort. He says “the Bucket type at its best reveals the real instructor and inspirer of others, and at its worst the agitator and malcontent.” This is the larger planetary pattern within which we’re all trying to do what we do.
We are also told this pattern is more about finding an effective release for energy within social settings, but also about the individual imposing their patterns on society rather than adapting to what is there. It’s about focused intention. So all of us can expect some sort of focused attention on the house where we have 9 Libra.
As noted, Mars is now outside the outer planet occupied span and will soon create a Bowl Pattern when it’s in late Gemini and Cancer and the Moon is between Sagittarius and Cancer. When Mars moves into Leo, Virgo, and Libra when the Moon is in the occupied span, Mars will become the nozzle for expressing the other planets. That will be off and on through the Summer and early Autumn.
Is the Grand Irrationality A Factor in this Full Moon?
Because this section is so long, I decided to create an article which explains what it is, how long it’s been in effect, and which zones of the zodiac have been most impacted and when. You can find all you need to know about this configuration associated with widespread irrationality and hard-edged “forks in the road of destiny” we’ve all confronted at various times by going to The Grand Irrationality. I updated it in December, and incorporated a further look into the future.
For many weeks, we have been revisiting the energies of the First Grand Irrationality (1993-2017) as both Saturn and Uranus were septile Neptune, Jupiter and Pluto were both biseptile Uranus, and Jupiter and Saturn were both septile Neptune. In this chart Mercury activates the configuration by making a septile to Pluto and conjunction to Neptune.
Mercury is the final inner planet to conjunct Neptune while septile Pluto and Uranus, putting this “7-pointed Star of Destiny” evolutionary configuration into play. Obviously, this is triggered off and on throughout the year whenever a planet moves through any of the hot zones of the configuration. All of these transits bring choices, changes, and decisions affecting our future. These “Grand Irrationality” triggers are why things are so crazy and hard-edged at this time.
Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend
Because Saturn has now taken center stage in its home sign of Aquarius, it continues to be the final dispositor of all planets transiting Capricorn and Aquarius from now through 2023. That makes it a dominant force through April 2022. And because Jupiter is in Aquarius, Saturn continues to dominate center stage during the transits of Sagittarius and Pisces. That means Saturn will loom large over personal and global events each Winter for a while!
Remember that while Saturn can feel heavy, it is also our ability to take command of our lives and destiny by using Saturn’s virtues in the right way and time. Our ability to steer our “ship of personality” into its rightful “role of destiny” has brought us to the threshold of new parts to play on the stage of Life.
In 2019 we rehearsed and perfected roles and skills we needed in 2020 and beyond as part of the Saturn-Uranus “dance of individualization” in our lives. We’ve begun to crystallize present and future rewards, as well as new group work and roles opening new chapters in our “hero’s journey” into a higher quality of Being awakened by Uranus.
I explain how Saturn and Uranus awaken us to our Higher Powers to take conscious command of our destiny in my book Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend. Saturn helps us give form and structure to our quest for Self-realization; in Capricorn, it teaches us how to accept and use personal power within a socially responsible context, while in Aquarius it teaches us how to make a greater contribution to our civilization and come together with others in a great effort “ensouled by a great vision.” Coupled with Uranus awakening a “new quality of Being rendering the old patterns obsolete,” we are collectively challenged “to break on through to the other side” in expressing our unfolding Higher Consciousness.
The book was written for both astrologers and non-astrologers. Even those with little or no understanding of astrology will benefit from understanding why you had to make certain choices at crucial times that shaped your life in profound ways.
Each time you read any section of this book you will find new insights about your power to throw off all the attitudes and memories which hold you back from finding and living the life and purpose. If you’ve haven’t already gotten your copy, you can go to the Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend page on Amazon and this should be all you need to order your copy. It’s also available on Amazon and as an ebook on Kindle, so if that’s more to your liking, go for it! If you would, whether you’ve gotten the ebook or the paperback, please write a review on the Amazon site, since the more reviews, the more of a boost they give it.
On A Final Note
See you in the near future with parts two and three on this “illuminated concentration expressed as integrated wisdom” Full Moon which will help us see a bigger picture and begin training to deliver spiritual power by the end of the year. This two week period crystallizes the recent Mercury direct station theme of seeing where we’re at on the “evolutionary ladder,” as well as leaving elements of our past behind. Soon Saturn will bring us “short cuts to attainment” preparing us for even more important group work in 2022.
This Lunation will help us “return to Source” to re-identify with whatever “finer cultural moments” show us our spiritual lineage. We continue to be pulled to a greater service within a larger spiritual fellowship, even as we open to finding nourishment among those with whom we share spiritual values.
The Sun lights the way to a greater personal power to take the initiative in pleasing and/or beautiful ways which can help us heal into our Higher Self. Aries opens new possibilities of evolution on our own terms, and this year it favorably aspects all the Aquarian conjunctions made over the past year. This is a new era, with the next two weeks being “the end of the end and the beginning of the beginning.” Because Mercury rules Mars and is conjunct Neptune, continue to catch glimpses of the larger collective consciousness of humanity, and allow a lot to flow down the time stream.
The new roles and responsibilities we took on in 2019-2020 will lead to new social effectiveness in 2021 and 2022. The compressions in Capricorn have led us to forms of personal power, and being very long wave cycles, indicates our work for a long time to come. Again, look to where you have late Capricorn and early Aquarius in your chart to see the focus of coming years.
Because of the Mercury retrograde “bookend” theme of 2020, we now have found a higher, more diplomatic and dignified way of interacting with others over the past year. The October-November 2020 Mercury retrograde period gave us a look back to see how we’ve “raised our game” in our interactions, and its direct station at 26 Libra began the theme bookending 2021 involving how we use a combination of “soft power” and “hard power” to demonstrate spiritual adeptship. The most recent Mercury retrograde period gave us new information about expanding our dedication to our Soul’s ideal, and now we have a sense of where we’re at on the larger evolutionary ladder, seeing what must be left behind.
We have now entered a new chapter in our spiritual journey at a fork in the road of our collective destiny. 2020 was about forging our connection with the World Soul, our Wisdom, and our greater dedication. We’re all wiser than we used to be, have been given ample opportunities to value our heart connections with our friends, and display the vaster spiritual awareness we share with our Brothers and Sisters.
We’ve stabilized the Capricorn promise of 2018 and 2019 as changes accelerate the on-going conflict between Saturn and Uranus. We have initiated a 20 year Aquarian sub-era which will change us and our world for decades to come, so continue to use Pisces energy wisely, eliminating all that is obsolete, stagnant, or irrelevant to the focus on reconnecting with Source indicated by this Full Moon. Compare notes with others as you see how you’ve codified new values and are living at a higher spiritual level than even a few months ago.
This is a new beginning! End what needs ending, move into new ways of seeing, knowing, relating, and healing, and see it all as a training period. If there are disruptions, it’s due to a concentrated dose of spiritual energy entering your field of awareness. Use the clarity you’ve found these past two weeks and trust your ability to act naturally, spontaneously, and unreservedly after you’ve seen the whole picture. Use your understanding to do what you must, and then take time to experience what you’ve just done.
I’ll see you soon when we’ll discuss Sabian Symbols, aspects, and other important chart factors.
