OUR QUESTIONS about what lies ahead are not answered this week, despite our hopes for clarity or expectations of resolution. The road we are traveling continues into unfamiliar territory, compelling us to find our stability and peace of mind internally. As I wrote on Facebook earlier this week: 

When there is chaos in the world, we are drawn inward to our Soul, to our Truth, as a means to make sense of our experience. We are drawn to a center stillpoint to find Peace, at first out of a survival instinct, but then out of a knowing that this is where we belong, that this is where our true answers lie.

OUR RECENT Full Moon, which was tightly aligned with Uranus, is now in our rear view mirror -- but we're not yet done with its energetic effects. For the first several days of the coming week, the Scorpio Sun is still opposing Uranus, activating its often chaotic influence.

This translates into our earth-plane experience as surprises or even shocks, disruption of the status quo, and unexpected detours. We will need to be very flexible in the days ahead, continuing to "expect the unexpected." 

IN SHARP CONTRAST to the rapid-change energies of the Sun-Uranus opposition, Mercury is now moving very slowly as it prepares to change direction this week. These days around Mercury's exact station are of even greater consequence than usual, since the Messenger Planet is exactly square Saturn today (November 1), is still actively square Saturn when it stations direct on Tuesday (November 3), and then will exactly square Saturn again on Friday (November 6).

This "stuck square" between Mercury and Saturn indicates a major obstacle that must be overcome before we can move forward. With Mercury in Libra, which rules justice and fairness, squaring Saturn in Capricorn, which rules authority figures and government, we can expect that the conflict will play out in these realms.

A note about the U.S. elections: With Mercury stationing on Election Day, and with the Mercury-Saturn square dominating the energies, we should not expect a definitive outcome right away. Results may be contested or there will be other confusion or delays. The last time Mercury stationed on Election Day was in 2000, when the presidential election ended up in a recount and was ultimately decided by the U.S. Supreme Court. 

AS A BACKDROP for these dramatics, we are already well within the energy field of the powerful Jupiter-Pluto alignment that perfects on November 12. This is the last of three such alignments in 2020, with the other two having occurred on April 4 and June 29.

This third alignment is especially significant, since it occurs at the precise degree of the Saturn-Pluto conjunction that occurred on January 12, 2020. If we have been looking for more clues as to what that Saturn-Pluto conjunction was about, and what it has been trying to reveal and transmute, we should have very strong evidence by mid November.

LOOKING BACK at the times of the first two Jupiter-Pluto conjunctions, in late March/early April and late June/early July, we see that each of these time frames marked an important stage in the global COVID-19 crisis. At each phase, we've dealt with personal restrictions and societal changes that have been brought about by the crisis. We've deeply felt the pressures of these changing times.

I will talk more about this influence in next week's Journal. But I wanted to include mention of it today, since we are on the river already.

IMAGINE riding in a kayak on a swiftly flowing river, with a current so strong that it's impossible to avoid the white water rapids just ahead. To remain upright and not get dumped into the bone-chilling water, our best option is to focus on staying in balance. We do this by continually adjusting our center of gravity as needed to accommodate the waves, and by sensing exactly when to paddle and when to go with the flow.

No matter our personal circumstances right now, each of us is also navigating the emotional turbulence of mass consciousness that is flowing just beneath our conscious awareness. Because of these waves, we might feel fine one moment, and in despair the next, without anything in particular having triggered the change. Or, we might wake up in a "mood" of fear, grief, or anger that we don't understand. If this occurs, it is often best to just feel the feelings and move on, rather than trying to label them or explain their source.

GIVEN the current situation, maintaining our internal balance is vital. Doing so will have much more satisfactory results than if we try to control our external reality by thrashing the water with our paddle or by yelling at the river gods to stop the river in its course.

We can also envision the kayak beneath us as our spiritual support team. While we may skillfully use the paddle or shift our weight to help ourselves stay afloat, an even more effective tool is to connect with the Team that has been with us since before birth, and is present to help us navigate these transitional times. When we make this connection and turn to our Team for support, we realize that we are being lovingly held, and that there are higher purposes currently being fulfilled.

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: Over the next year, you are likely to feel very restless and ready for new experiences. This inner urge for change will become even stronger in 2021. Your core identity is actually shifting, and certain areas of your life will need either to adjust or to radically change to adapt to the "new you." The depth of change depends on whether you have been living according to your truth or based on "shoulds." This is a time to play with many possibilities rather than settling on a single long-term course of action, since you are in the process of self-discovery and your preferences are not yet stabilized.  (Solar Return Sun quincunx Mars, opposite Uranus)
