Jupiter Square Uranus

Jupiter Square Uranus

We’re now in the heart of the waning (upper) square of Jupiter to Uranus between January 11 and 25! As Jupiter is expansive, and Uranus is revolutionary, this one accompanies a wild ride!

This cycle began in 2010-2011 when Jupiter conjuncted Uranus three times during that period. The first conjunction was in June 2010 at 1 Aries with both planets direct; the second conjunction was in September at 29 Pisces with both retrograde; and the third conjunction was in January 2011 at 28 Pisces. This initiated the current cycle which is culminating.

Jupiter made waxing squares to these points in June 2013, oppositions in late August through mid-September 2016, and made a waning square in late November and early December 2019. It will return to late Pisces and early Aries in late April and early May 2022 and late October through late December 2022.

However, transiting Jupiter didn’t make a waxing square with Uranus until August 2013 from 13 Cancer to 13 Aries; it made a second waxing square while retrograde in February 2014 from 11 Cancer to 11 Aries, and made a third square when direct in April 2014 from 14 Cancer to 14 Aries. Jupiter opposed Uranus in December 2016 from 21 Libra to 21 Aries, and made another opposition while retrograde when both were at 23 degrees of those signs, and then made their third opposition from 28 Libra to Uranus RX at 28 Aries in late September 2017. They now make the waning square on the way to their next conjunction in April 2024 at 22 Taurus.

We are told by many sources that this aspect is volatile, willful, and prone to “explode sideways” in erratic “breakaway” rebellion. Marc Edmund Jones states that Jupiter square Uranus makes the “major problem in life is the adjustment of one’s personal standards to opportunities that open up, or seeing clearly where one’s advantage lies in a particular situation. This aspect may destroy chances by a display of temperament.” He also states greatest success results “from the tremendous driving power” this aspect generates when we “get ourselves oriented.” It “wins out by the intensity of self-application to desired ends.”

This is the waning square, marking a point of fulfillment and completion of the process which began 10-11 years ago. It is a time to rein in volatility, and put the brakes on willful misadventures. It falls from 7 Aquarius to 7 Taurus, opening “A Child born of an eggshell” relative to “a new quality of being rendering the old patterns obsolete.” This is where the limitless potential of all which has not been realized up to this point now receives a vision of that which is not bound to local culture or conditions.

The voids in 7 Leo and 7 Scorpio show the larger permanent patterns behind local events, and the need to become spiritual strong as we explore the depths of the collective unconscious as well as what drives the subconscious minds of people. Depending on what emerges during this square’s hot zone of a degree and a half forming to a degree and a half separating, we see this may accompany maximum volatility from around January 11 through January 25.

Given the other transits, you can bet things will heat up between January 17 and 28 when Mars first conjuncts Uranus and then squares Jupiter. January 24-28 shows the Sun square Uranus, and Saturn makes its first square between February 1 and March 12, occupying the “child born of an eggshell” degree from February 6 through February 15. Of note is that Venus squares Uranus from 7 Aquarius to 7 Taurus on February 6-7, which gives even more reinforcement to the 5-9 Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius hot zones. Also remember that the other Octile points at 20-24 Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces are also in play. That means these Aquarian transits are making semisquares to Neptune, so stay as clear as possible when the collective atmosphere is supercharged with revolution and rebellion!

Because these zones are constantly agitated for a few weeks, understand there are larger forces at work spiritually preparing us to see and execute a larger vision or some new potential. Disregard and/or ignore lesser or unimportant things when larger things are at stake, staying focused on what’s really pertinent in situations.

This set of squares from Aquarius to Taurus shows the powerful Aquarian future vision already in motion despite the stubborn forces attempting to block it. Whether this is good or bad can be measured by the standard “the greatest good for the greatest number,” coupled with “is this a future ideal or a stubborn value?” This is the next iteration of the Aquarian energies in the collective field preparing humanity to cross into the new Age after mid-century. Welcome aboard!
