After the higher than high energies of the past few months, it’s time to pause, take stock, and let some things go. Lots of them.

Purging, purging, purging is in season for any Full Moon, all the more so amid the intensity of Pluto-ruled Scorpio. It’s the deepest and most complex of the water signs. When the moon is full in it, little is low stakes, and much is extraordinarily high drama. The crescendo of emotions teems with issues we care about deeply, heavy on feral impulses, fears, resentments, pain and other manner of nastiness stretching back years (into prior lives, even).

It’s a great time for getting things out of your system – for cleaning closets, real and metaphoric, and taking garbage to the curb, real and metaphoric. Or to a toxic waste dump. And this year’s model encourages deep and thorough cleaning, with the Moon widely square Scorpio’s ruler Pluto and trine Jupiter in Cancer.

Those aspects are magnifying every component of the Full Moon. Emotions, events, sensitivities, sordidness, you name it, are all over the top; some feel as if survival is at stake. Or as if the gates of hell have opened. They’re not new; they’ve been within and around us, in places we may not have detected or suspected, gathering strength and gushing out now.

And once they start gushing, they’re not likely to go back into hiding. Their emergence may hurt, but that discomfort encourages moving them out. It’s akin to lancing a boil: dealing with it brings relief. This isn’t Band-Aid territory, either. In fact, some of this Moon’s cresting waves will lead to more and more exposure, and more and more release and purging.

Once you start clearing an area out, the motivation is there to go at the process ruthlessly. Mars is square Jupiter, pushing for more, more, more, more, more. And maybe not nicely; his touch can be abrasive in Aries.

How well you feel (or probably don’t feel) nurtured, cared for or safe is coming to consciousness. Festering family issues? (Jupiter is in homey Cancer, after all.) This Moon has the medicine to neutralize them. And other trauma, for that matter.

Decide you’re done with their hold on you and purge whatever you can. Take a shower, consciously release them and let them wash down the drain. Write them on pieces of paper, burn the paper, toss the cooled ashes into a toilet bowl and flush. Or hold the palm of your hand over the bowl and imagine the nastiness flowing out of you, and then flush.

Clean physical spaces, too: Closets, basements, septic systems, the back of refrigerators. What’s taking up room, instead of serving a purpose? What’s gone bad? Out it goes.

Speak It Out Loud

And talk about it. Scorpio may have a reputation for keeping cards close to the chest, but other parts of the sky are setting minds and mouths on fire. Mercury’s conjunction to Chiron is igniting thoughts and words, prompting us to blurt out whatever is erupting within us. Speaking out may prove healing, especially on matters that have been long under wraps.

We have little chance of passing up this opportunity. Something hasn’t been feeling right. It’s been hard to put a finger on it, but equally hard to dismiss. The instigator is an uncomfortable semi-sextile from Pluto to the North Node, needling us to pay attention and deal with the irritant. It’s for your good, in the long run.
