2026 Virgo Full Moon Lunar Eclipse

2026 Virgo Full Moon Lunar Eclipse

12 Virgo 54 / 12 Pisces 54

Sometimes you need to draw a line. And if you don’t, circumstances have a way of doing it for you.

Line drawing will be all over our lives, and the news, in early March. The issue looms large in the dramas coming to a head at the Virgo Full Moon March 3. It’s a lunar eclipse, a super-sized full moon with an assist from Jupiter that encourages over-the-top behavior.

Prospects are good for the usual trappings of a lunar eclipse to emerge cartoonishly large: Departures that are high in both drama and impact, with doors locking shut in their wake. Lines and boundaries being drawn in indelible ink. Chapters closing. And revelations that come from all over creation. (Hold that thought.)

This eclipse is the fourth since September 2024 on the Virgo/Pisces axis. This spectrum pits analytical thinking against faith and underscores the challenge of empathic boundaries: living with the rest of humanity without drowning in it. For hints of how these have played out for you, think back to late 2006 to early 2008, when we last went through this cycle, and especially to March 2007, when a Virgo lunar eclipse occurred at this degree.

The current go-round, which lasts into 2027, has a decided emphasis on wrapping up the past, because all but one of the eclipses are lunar. (The Leo/Aquarius eclipses that started last month, on the other hand, are all solar, or super-sized new moons, catapulting us into the future.)

And the past is all over this event. Virgo’s ruler Mercury is a week into his first retrograde of the year, and his journey is folding all manner of information into the eclipse. Its revelations teem with lies, secrets, misunderstandings, misperceptions, unmaskings and disillusionment, all seeping into the departures and endings coming from the eclipse. Scales are falling from eyes, and the reaction is an epidemic of line drawing and vanishing acts.

The challenge will be to extricate yourself from the flood. The Virgo Moon has quite the counterweight, with Mars, the north node, the Sun, Mercury and Venus opposite it in Pisces. There’s irony in the line-up: the representative of emotions is in one of her most rational, intellectual modes, while the representative of reason and the ruler of thought are in their most non-rational modes.

Our minds, our drive, our desires and connections are all connected with everyone and everything, and all we have keeping us on solid ground is the hyper-analytical Moon and the south node, pulling us back into old ways of thinking, overthinking and finding fault. Their influence does offer a way out: Stop and think. Think things over. Analyze the revelations and the feelings. And choose health. (The Moon’s sextile to Jupiter in Cancer is angling for that as well.)

The Pisces party has a built-in exit door, too. Venus’ sextile to Uranus is a formula for clean breaks. It makes it possible to depart, eject or draw lines with grace and kindness, or at least without a scene. You may be utilizing this doorway. You may be on the receiving end of it as well, especially if you’ve been making excuses or putting off drawing a line or taking a stand for your own intactness.

Events are hurrying a lot of much-needed endings, but that’s no reason not to embrace the clearing imperative of this eclipse. As each revelation surfaces – as will happen, in abundance – run it through your mind if you must. But don’t be surprised if in many cases your reaction is swift and visceral. Enough. Shields up. So long.
