This year’s Pisces New Moon is immersing us in the reality of the Butterfly Effect: the notion that something as gentle as the flutter of a butterfly’s wings can unleash a tsunami on the other side of the globe.

The recent flotilla of planets through the sign of Pisces has heightened both our awareness and experience of events far beyond our door. That recognition of interconnectedness flows into the Pisces New Moon and permeates the seeds, goals and intentions it’s spawning.

Although it’s the start of a new phase, this Moon comes with a sense of endings. One reason is the Virgo lunar eclipse two weeks earlier, which is still ending chapters, ejecting people and situations, and closing doors, locking them behind us and vaporizing the keys.

The New Moon has an era-ending vibe in its own right as well. Its location at the next to last degree of its sign gives it a quality of culmination. This quality has characterized the new moons since October, all of which have occurred at the 28^th degree of their sign. In this final of six at this degree, one manner of coexistence has gone as far as it can and is now being rerouted.

What we intend and start and cultivate now reflects a new experience of all things Piscean – universality, faith, dreams, empathy, artistry and higher love, but also suffering, grief and sorrow. The path is open to expressions of all that break previous norms and invite a more “we are in this together” approach. It’s on offer from the Moon’s tight sextile to awakening, liberating Uranus, zapping the universal waters with realizations and future-oriented perspectives.

The way of the future is definitely on our minds, although perhaps more in a knowing than on the order of logical thought. Mercury, ruler of our information and transportation streams and processes, is conjunct the North Node in Pisces, pointing the way to a more universal collective experience. He’s following the path of Venus, ruler of relationships, creativity, and all we value, which was conjunct the North Node at last month’s Aquarius New Moon. A new way of coexistence underlay that catalytic solar eclipse. Now thoughts and communications play catch up, with Mercury bringing discoveries of his current retrograde into his meeting with the Node.

Drowning in everyone’s energy is not the point, though. We are each bringing our individual divine spark, our individual innate guidance, our individual creativity and spirit into the universal waters, with Pisces’ ruler Neptune radiating life force from the beginning of the zodiac.

And this Moon has currents that will spread our visions far and wide. Action hero Mars is collaborating with expansive, bountiful Jupiter, the traditional ruler of Pisces. Their contact, a trine, amplifies efforts as soon as they are set in motion. One small act could easily grow into a groundswell.

Take advantage of the flow. Set your intentions with love and faith, all the better if they can benefit the world at large. Watch them ripple out from you; let the waters of Pisces carry them away. Let people know what you’re intending, too. No telling where or how far this Moon will take them, or how many people they will touch.
