Now come the waves. We ride them. Or run into them. Or, more likely, feel them crash over us. And when they recede, they’ll have left treasures from the deep on the shore – and washed all kinds of everything away.
The waves are dancing to the tune of the Pisces Full Moon, an all-consuming event ordinarily but even moreso now. This Full Moon is a total lunar eclipse, when the earth comes between the Moon and the Sun and completely blots out our view of the Moon.
It’s the third in the Virgo/Pisces series, which runs from September 2024 to February 2027. The axis involves the challenge of maintaining healthy boundaries while coexisting with the vast sea of life.
For a hint of what may be happening to you – the waters might blur your vision – think back to September 2006, when we last had a lunar eclipse at this degree. Issues and themes from then may circle back for revisiting.
A lunar eclipse amplifies the usual full moon escalations and ups the drama with revelations, departures and chapter endings. Emotions run higher than high, and because this one is in Pisces, other people’s may slop over onto us.
This one is even more over the top than the norm, because the Moon has a direct current – or trine – from Jupiter. He’s expansive, amplifying in his own way, and opening floodgates to all manner of Cancerian issues: Hypersensitivity. Taking things personally that may have nothing to do with you. Home, family and Mommy.
The Moon/Jupiter current is overrunning a lot of people with issues involving their homes and relatives. The waters are stirring family secrets, projections, victimization, martyrdom and “Mom always liked you best” accusations.
This Moon is a super-soaker, drenching even usually logical folk. Mid-March plays a role in the deluge, because Saturn, ruler of order (and elders) has just slid back to the very last degree of Pisces, drawing attention to the pileup of planets at the end of the sign during the last two weeks of March.
Watch for backwash from then … and for situation after situation, drama after drama to crest and wash over us.
The eclipse is dredging up a lot. And washing a lot away. As always, avoid running after anything that’s leaving; you might get caught in an undertow or worse. You will probably automatically let go of a lot, some without realizing it until later. And you can certainly choose to let go of anything that’s engulfing you — people, dramas, inadequate boundaries, fantasies, delusions.
Letting go is easy; just pay attention to your energy and follow it. Neptune in Aries is opening windows of opportunity to Uranus in Gemini (radical new thinking) and Pluto in Aquarius (fundamental realignment of power and communities). The daring is at hand to make different choices.
Actively engaging in forgiveness is a beneficial response to this eclipse. One approach is the Ho’oponopono prayer (“I’m sorry; please forgive me; thank you; I love you”), a particularly powerful tool to neutralize resentment and negativity, especially if they’re intellectually justified. Another method is taking a shower and imagining them running from your body down the drain. Or make up your own. The intent to forgive is what’s important, not the form you choose.
We’ll be revisiting this eclipse’s dramas in March, and engaging in clean-up work on them, when a companion lunar eclipse occurs in Virgo at the same degree.
For now, trust your instincts. Let go control when the waves hit. Notice what washes up, floats by or drifts away. And let the current take you where it will.
Two resources:
- I have prompts for each sun and rising sign to help understand this eclipse’s impact on you. It’s a standalone post at my Patreon called Riding the Waves of the Virgo/Pisces Eclipses, which you can purchase as a one-off without joining the Patreon.
- The ologies podcast just had an interview that fits this eclipse family perfectly, about …. moral dilemmas, and the complexity of acting for the greater good. Much more captivating than you might think; give it a listen while you’re walking or doing chores. If nothing else look into the guest’s nonprofit platform, which has a method for placing donations where they will do the greatest good. ($10 in the US may help one person; the same amount in certain overseas programs betters life for scads more.)
