The past two months have drastically rearranged our circumstances and, for many of us, ourselves. They've stirred a lot of emotions, but coping day to day may not have allowed sufficient time or opportunity to vent them properly. That changes now.
Emotional mop up is part of the job of August's Pisces Full Moon. We're in for evidence of just how much has changed or left. And now it's time to acknowledge that and say goodbye.
The Pisces Full Moon is a partial lunar eclipse and the next to last eclipse in the cycle we've been in since September 2024. These eclipses have been lighting up the challenge of maintaining healthy boundaries while floating in the all-connecting sea of humanity. The axis has brought up scads of related issues, such as critical thinking vs. faith (or delusion), details vs. the big picture, separation vs. empathy, and objectivity vs. compassion.
This cycle's activity has been predominately lunar eclipses, which supersize the culminating and releasing properties of a full moon. They've brought waves and waves of revelations, departures and monumental chapter closings, all of which are hallmarks of a lunar eclipse. And they've been largely clearing out and closing down, instead of propelling us forward.
These impacts are appropriate for an eclipse family with the south node in Virgo. They've brought to light situations that could benefit from analytical thinking, that need improvement, or that are ripe for releasing. They've shown where our boundaries are porous or overrun by other people or calling for some separation from the past ways we've been living. And they've shown the opposite, too, where thinking has divided fellow humans or overridden loving tendencies.
This examination is slowing to a close. The nodes have moved to the Aquarius/Leo axis, and this Moon is the first Pisces/Virgo eclipse since the nodes shifted at the end of July. This round of dramas is cleaning, revealing and closing the book on much of the past 18 months. And since we aren't operating under the previous nodes, we get a bit of distance and perhaps understanding of what that journey has been about.
That extends as well to the outer planet configurations of the past six weeks. Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto formed the one that got the attention — the basket or cradle rewiring individual and collective power with raw instinct and genius innovation. As Jupiter moved out of the action, the Sun and then Mercury took his place and ignited our selves and our minds.
The outer planets' rewiring energizes this Full Moon as well. It's forming its own links to Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, bringing steam and lightning to the Piscean waters and revealing factors below the surface.
One way it's doing this is through a built-in engine for processing, awakening and breaking away. The Sun is conjunct Mercury, amplifying the detached, intellectual bent at our disposal. The Sun and Mercury are squaring Uranus, zapping the dramas with surprises, unexpected information and epiphanies that tilt or break open our thinking. The tightness of the link to Uranus more than promises abrupt developments and departures, which we may not have seen coming.
Pisces' ruler Neptune is in a door-opening link, or sextile, to Pluto, offering higher guidance into some of the revelations and darkness coming out (which could be fodder for creativity), as well as a scythe to cut through confusion or lies.
The pair is also working on our analytical or intellectualizing side. They're both in an inconjunct to the Sun/Mercury conjunction, pointing to it in a configuration called a yod or finger of God. Even as the Piscean waves toss us here and there, emphasis is on the role of our minds. The way we think, the way we draw lines, the way we analyze are all up for adjustment.
Our minds are not steering by pure intellect or reason, but are having to take into account Neptune's input, raw instinct and connection to something greater than the human mind, and the evolutionary demands of Pluto. The adjustments boil down to: Trust your inner knowing; make clean breaks. If you want to be dramatic, extend that to: evolve or die. Any death, however, is conceptual. And it may be acknowledging the endings that have already occurred.
The eclipse will provide abundant cause to rethink, and abundant cause to experience and express emotion. It will submerge us in the impact of the past two months, as well as the past year and a half. It will dislodge secrets from the deep, and possibly sorrow and tears as well, and cut loose dinghies that have been tethered to our boats.
And it leads us to a point of stability, no matter what chaos or sorrow may still be coming off the Full Moon. Confidence and an internal anchor are heading our way, through a trine between Jupiter and Saturn. It's palpable under the Full Moon and exact August 31. That's your waystation as the Piscean waters crest and part.
"There is no such thing as an ending, just a place where you leave the story. And it is your story now." – Muriel Donnelly, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
