Sagittarius New Moon 2025: Fresh Start & Zodiac Guidance

Sagittarius New Moon 2025: Fresh Start & Zodiac Guidance

This is our last New Moon for 2025, and it can be one of the best New Moons for setting resolutions.

New Moons give us the opportunity to start fresh, and the Sagittarius New Moon can inspire an adventurous spirit. The Winter Solstice occurs two days after the New Moon, marking the day with the shortest hours of light. This New Moon favors doing something behind the scenes that pays off later. Since the New Moon is at 28 degrees and 24 minutes, late-degree New Moons often carry a sense of urgency or “last call” symbolism. You can look at this as a reminder of how quickly time passes and how easy it is to miss an opportunity, especially if you’ve been procrastinating when it comes to making something happen.

Have you been wanting to start a business, learn a new skill, take up a different exercise routine, find love, or create your vision? Since Mars is in its exaltation in the sign of Capricorn, anything that requires long term effort is what you will want to focus on with this New Moon. Set goals and go for it. You are much better off focusing on your annual resolutions now than waiting two weeks, when we are just days away from the first Full Moon of 2026.

I know it can be easy to make excuses during the holidays, such as saying you can’t eat healthy right now due to the festivities. But you can eat healthy outside of events and indulge in cookies on Christmas Day. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing, and that is exactly what Mars in Capricorn is here to remind us.

Think of how Mars in Capricorn plays out. Mountain goats don’t climb the mountain in a straight line. They sometimes take a step or two back to find a more feasible route. They make adjustments as they plot their course. Setbacks don’t deter them from their end goal. Most of all, they take their time and assess while still taking action. This is a helpful way to handle the season while starting something new, so that you actually reach the top of the mountain when you are done.

With the Sun and Moon in the sign of Sagittarius, there is enthusiasm and optimism to get you started and propel you forward. With Venus also in Sagittarius and in orb with the New Moon, there is an opportunity to create harmony and balance in your approach, rather than tackling a new situation with extreme measures. You may be tempted to spend too much money on any new endeavor you take on, so keep that in mind. The key here is to focus on balance.

You may start off on this venture with some self-doubt, and that mountain could feel insurmountable due to the Moon’s square to Saturn and Neptune in Pisces. It may be hard to visualize the complete path, and that is ok. Take responsibility and ownership for each step. Ask yourself whether your doubt is coming from outside programming. Most likely it is. Don’t let other people’s limitations hold you back. What would be the worst thing that could happen?

For many years, I imagined myself being on the show Project Runway, even though I didn’t know how to design or sew. In 2016, my then partner encouraged me to apply. I gave every excuse I could think of, and he would say things like, take sewing lessons or you’ve got a great eye. Eventually, I started taking sewing lessons, bought a machine, and a few months later, as my confidence built up, I spent all of my free time designing and sewing.

Yes, I applied for Project Runway in 2017. The worst thing that could have happened was not getting on the show, and that is exactly what happened. But I learned a skill I didn’t have before, took a fun trip to New York, and met some interesting people during the process. In retrospect, I gained just as much from not making it onto the show as I would have if I had been accepted. Maybe you don’t reach the top of the mountain, but instead, you explore the entire mountain except for the peak.

The Sun and Moon will no longer be squared to Saturn and Neptune less than a week after the New Moon, so if you are not feeling the push behind your dreams on the 19th, let them percolate for a few days. The voices of dissent will fade, and I promise the hesitation will disappear. It only takes one step to start the climb.

In the background, Jupiter forms a trine to Saturn, which supports long term goals. Jupiter in retrograde allows you to tap into the past and focus on the things that bring you joy. Saturn is responsible for the here and now and, together with Jupiter, helps you build long term, sustainable plans.

With Mercury in Sagittarius and out of its prior retrograde shadow, lean into enthusiasm, even if it takes a few days to build momentum. Try not to be overly judgmental, especially when it comes to yourself. If you are struggling with focus, which can happen with Mercury in its detriment, create a list of pros and cons or outline the actions needed to make what you want come to fruition. Mercury is square to the North Node, so effort is required, but the sign of Pisces is urging you to lead with compassion and let your imagination guide the way.

Since there are major holidays from now through the Capricorn Full Moon on January 3rd, I want to briefly address the energy of this period. On the New Moon, Venus is in conjunctional orb with the Sun and Moon in Sagittarius, and Mars is also within orb, though this is an out-of-sign conjunction since Mars is newly in Capricorn. Venus and Mars begin in a wide orb with each other, but Venus moves into Capricorn on the 24th, tightening the orb until the conjunction becomes exact on January 7th, 2026.

Venus–Mars conjunctions are associated with creativity, and in the sign of Capricorn, that creativity is not limited to art. Business ventures or figuring out your path are supported under this energy. This conjunction can help us get along with others and make celebrations feel fun and festive, as long as we avoid becoming combative and instead lean into feelings of love and companionship.

The main reason I wanted to bring this up is the spark this conjunction can bring to relationships and attraction. Depending on your own chart, the next few weeks are supportive for socializing, going to parties, and meeting new people. If you have a desire to meet someone, this is favorable energy for dating and romance, especially with someone who has the potential to be in your life for a while.

With that said, let’s take a look at the horoscopes for each rising sign and how this energy could play out for you.

Horoscopes by Rising Sign

The horoscopes are written through the lens of Western Tropical Astrology using a whole sign house system. Each horoscope is based on the rising sign position. Read the zodiac of your ascendant for the most accurate information. However, due to derivative astrology, you may also want to read your Sun and Moon sign for additional insight.

Keep in mind, this is overarching information and is not based on your personal chart placements.

Aries Rising:

The New Moon will occur in your ninth house of foreign travel, higher education, culture, beliefs, and law. This is a great time to plan a romantic getaway or enroll in a course that broadens your knowledge of philosophy, religion, or the legal system. If you are vacationing during the holidays, there is a chance of a romantic hookup. Just don’t let self-doubt keep you from having fun or block your ability to learn something new.

The location of your job may also change soon. Whether you relocate offices or change companies, you most likely will end the year or start next year in a different environment. There also could be a change with your reputation. You may have to push back on someone undermining you or demand what is rightfully yours.

If you are shopping, be aware that you may buy something unusual or purchase things that are trendy. Remember that accumulating too many things can actually hinder your sense of freedom, especially if you take ownership of your path over the next couple of years. Instead, think long term about how you want your home to be, and you may decide to create an area that you can use for your alone time.

Lately, you’ve been desiring friendships that are deeper and transformative in nature. Though in the past you may have been happy with shallow conversation or friends who had no ambition, you now desire to meet people who shake up your world and help you find new financial opportunities.

Over the next couple of weeks and through the holiday season, you may bring in more income through your career. However, if you are having a flirtation with someone at work, it may be hard to keep the flames under control. Be careful not to get burned by the undercurrent between the two of you.

Just make sure that impulses do not lead you astray from your personal values.

Taurus Rising:

You may find yourself craving more intimacy in your relationships and feel unrestricted with your emotions or sensuality. If you are in a partnership, there is a chance of more income coming in through your spouse, and they could get word of a bonus or a raise for next year. You could be merging assets or in the process of making investments or purchasing real estate. However, if you are single, you may obtain extra money from a shared source, savings, an investment, or through a business partnership.

Even though things may be going your way financially right now, you could feel a little melancholy. Friendships may have been abandoned over the past couple of years, or you could feel that too much effort was needed to stay in contact with your social group.

When it comes to friends, try doing something low key together. Go to your favorite local spot and hang out in a casual setting. This is a way to keep your friendships from fading out. However, you may also realize that you’ve outgrown some of your friends and would rather spend energy on new connections that align with you when it comes to business or humanitarian causes.

You’ve gone through a lifetime of changes over the past seven years, and you may not recognize the person you were back then. Over the next four months, you will continue to redefine yourself and suddenly realize how you want to present yourself to the world. Old, worn-out patterns will go by the wayside, and though the journey had its ups and downs, you’ve opened your mind to new possibilities and shed yourself from restrictions that didn’t serve you.

For the holidays, you will be best served by either spending time on a trip or with extended family. If you need an escape, go somewhere that allows you to have an adventure and takes you out of your daily routine. Or, if it is family you choose, make the most of telling and listening to each other’s stories and sharing your cultural experiences.

Gemini Rising:

This New Moon is all about your important and committed relationships, giving you a positive reset. If you have had issues with a business partner, boss, or significant other, this is the time to start fresh and work on a plan that includes clear communication, respect, and follow-through. It is also a great time to express your feelings, and if you are in a physical relationship, your attraction to each other may increase around the New Moon.

Career-wise, everything may still feel uncertain, but you’ve most likely been assigned more responsibilities. You may have had to pick up tasks you’ve done in the past, or someone may have dropped the ball, leaving you with an additional workload. Because of this, you may be questioning whether you are in the right line of work or if the company you work for aligns with your personal values.

This could be a good time to sit down with your boss and discuss long term goals. You may need to get a commitment that your extra effort will pay off financially. When it comes to romantic partnerships, plan something fun during the holiday season that gives you a sense of adventure and freedom.

Regarding your personal surroundings, take this holiday season to clean out closets, go through possessions, and identify what is keeping you stuck or limiting your sense of freedom. You may be holding onto items because you believe they have sentimental value, when they are actually an added responsibility or burden.

You may also be dealing with recurring dreams at night, especially if you remember them clearly. There could be a message you are not quite grasping, so jotting down symbols from your dreams when you wake up may help.

In the coming weeks, you may want to take a close look at your investments and finances. You most likely will receive a bonus or raise during the holidays, and understanding where you stand now can help you make the most of it. If you are in a committed relationship, you may also feel much more connected during this time.

Cancer Rising:

This is your chance for a fresh start when it comes to your daily routine and work schedule. With the New Moon in your sixth house, you may notice that work can sometimes feel circular. You start one project, then another, and then a third or fourth without finishing the first ones. This is a time to reset and give yourself structure. If you don’t already use a calendar or system to stay organized, this New Moon can offer insight into how to arrange your work life for better productivity.

Health has also been on your mind lately. You may have been indulging in sweets or heavier foods, or skipping exercise due to the weather. Maybe you enjoy walking or running but don’t love the gym. There are other ways to stay active, such as walking through a mall or a large store like IKEA or Costco.

As you adjust your work environment, you may be thinking about commitments you want to make going into next year, especially regarding your career. You may need to explore different ways to bring income or follow through on responsibilities that help bring your creative visions to life. Things may have felt foggy lately, but this is a good time to make sound financial decisions moving forward.

When it comes to love, you are seeking a stable and reliable relationship. You could be ready to take action, whether that means a proposal or creating more space together within your home. Over the next couple of weeks, the energy between you and a romantic partner may feel both exciting and intense, with a stronger physical connection.

If you are not currently in a relationship, say yes to party invitations and opportunities to socialize over the next few weeks. This is a great time for Cancer risings to meet someone special, especially someone with long-term potential. Be open to possibilities, even though it is the holiday season.

Leo Rising:

With the New Moon in your fifth house, this is a great time for you to reset your expectations when it comes to romance, creativity, and children. Lately, you’ve been hard on yourself, especially regarding issues surrounding investments, real estate deals, or matters involving a partner. This New Moon wants you to get back to your roots of creative expression and allow your vitality to come back to the surface.

If you have not been social lately, say yes to any offers this weekend, especially if a party is involved. There is still background noise, particularly when it comes to finances. However, a cheap beer at a local brewery or ice skating at a city rink could be the cheer you need to reconnect with your free-spirited self.

By getting back into your soul’s energy, you can better deal with conflicts at work. You may be upset that others are taking credit for your work, or you may not be thrilled with sharing the fruits of your efforts. This is a good time to think more long term rather than focusing only on the moment. If you want center stage and to be noticed, take actions that have a lasting impact instead of focusing on immediacy.

Your career has been up and down, but you would be best served to identify the skills you’ve learned over the past seven years. You may have been placed in situations that stretched your knowledge or pushed you outside of your comfort zone. Instead of focusing on everything that happened, consider what you’ve taken away from those experiences. You may gain surprising insight into how to move forward with your career. The key here is to take ownership of both your successes and mistakes and learn from them.

During the holidays, take action with your daily routine and work schedule. Get some exercise in, but be careful not to overexert yourself or engage in risky activities. You may want to rearrange your workspace and add some beauty to your surroundings at work. It may be easy to overindulge in food and drink during the holidays, so if possible, keep that in check.

Virgo Rising:

With the New Moon in your fourth house, you may be embarking on a new chapter when it comes to home life. You could have recently moved, or you may be decorating your space, rearranging furniture, or contemplating living somewhere else. You feel both inspired and a little stuck, not quite sure what to do next, but excited about the possibility of change.

You may be wanting to make a commitment to a romantic partner, and they could be someone from your past, especially if they grew up in a different location or culture than your own. You’ve been thinking about settling down for a while and may even feel called to take on a more traditional role within your relationship, even if you are not a traditional person. This doesn’t mean you won’t share responsibility, but you may want things to feel both defined and flexible at the same time.

You could also be making plans with friends you haven’t seen in a while or feel drawn to reconnect with your social circle from childhood. You may even consider traveling back to where you grew up, viewing the past through an idealistic lens. Lately, you’ve taken on a nurturing or mothering role within your friend groups, often offering guidance or advice. Just be mindful that your support comes from a place of care rather than sounding preachy.

Pay attention to your energy levels right now. If you need rest, allow yourself to rest. If your body feels tight, take time to stretch. Creating daily routines that bring balance to your mind, body, and soul will serve you well. In a month or two, work activity will likely increase, so taking things slow now can help preserve your energy later.

Over the holidays, date, flirt, and have fun. Express yourself through creative outlets and allow your inner child to come out. The more light-hearted you are, the more inspiration you’ll receive. If you feel drawn to writing, painting, drawing, or performing, follow that impulse. This is also a great time for storytelling, listening, and physical intimacy.

Libra Rising:

The New Moon is in your third house and may inspire you to explore your local surroundings. You might visit an art museum, attend a concert, or find a creative space at a library. You may also be thinking about new places to explore that are only a short drive away. If you live in a larger city, you might even feel tempted to take public transportation just to see where it leads.

Regarding the home, you may take action to create more order and personality within your space. You might feel inclined to label areas or add decorative signs that make things feel more organized. Practicality and efficiency are important to you right now, so automating tasks or reminders for household members could be helpful.

You may still lack complete clarity when it comes to work and could be taking time off to prepare for the holidays or use up PTO. There has been a lot of unnecessary busy work lately, and you may find yourself reviewing how you’ve earned money in the past or how you built your reputation in your field.

If you are in a partnership, there could be either a bonus or raise for your partner, or a disruption in their income, so be prepared for either outcome. If money increases, reducing debt would be a wise move. If you own a home, pay attention to its foundation or flooring, especially in multi-story homes. You may encounter an unexpected repair, so addressing wear and tear early can prevent larger issues.

During the holidays, gatherings will likely take place in your home or your childhood home. The people you love will be present, and you may find yourself financially responsible for some of the festivities. Stay mindful of your budget, as you may feel tempted to splurge on gifts, food, or drinks that feel indulgent or luxurious.

Scorpio Rising:

The New Moon offers a fresh perspective on your values. This is an opportunity to reflect on whether your beliefs have evolved over time and how you want to approach things moving forward. Are you becoming more open-minded, or have your views become more firmly established?

You may also feel motivated to purge belongings that no longer hold value for you. At the same time, you may have accumulated items impulsively. If something brings you joy, that’s fine, but if it restricts your freedom, consider selling or donating it.

You may have had a few arguments recently, possibly trying to convince others to see things your way. The issue may not be what you’re saying, but how you’re expressing it. When communication becomes aggressive or overly forceful, it can trigger defensiveness. If you soften your approach and focus on building rapport, you may find others more receptive, especially if you demonstrate responsibility through your actions.

Be mindful while driving, especially regarding speed limits. Traffic will likely be heavier due to the holidays. Allow extra time and take things slow. A speeding ticket would only add unnecessary stress.

During the holidays, conversations may feel lively and engaging. You could alternate between flirtation and playful provocation with a friend or neighbor. Keep things light and enjoy the interactions. If there is a block party or local event, attend it. You may meet someone interesting close to home.

Sagittarius Rising:

You may feel more sensitive on the day of the New Moon, as it falls in your first house of self. At the same time, you may feel optimistic and excited about the upcoming holidays. You could spend time updating your appearance with a haircut, manicure, or other beauty routine. While shopping for gifts, you may also feel inclined to treat yourself.

Home has felt restrictive over the past couple of years, and you may prefer spending time elsewhere. When you are home, however, you tend to focus on serious matters, making sure everything is running smoothly, pantries are stocked, and emotional needs are met. You’ve likely put effort into creating a peaceful and calming environment.

Questions around self-worth may arise, particularly if you tie your value to money. You might assume that financial success equates to being a good person, while financial struggle means the opposite. This mindset can pull you away from your authentic self. Still, this is a productive time to take action around earning money. A side hustle or a strategic plan to increase income could be beneficial, just remember that money does not define who you are.

Your daily habits have been inconsistent for several years, prompting reflection on what works and what doesn’t. You’ve been experimenting with new approaches to old routines. If meal prepping didn’t work, it’s fine to abandon it. Maybe buying simple lunch items and assembling meals at work suited you better. These are modern adaptations that can support your lifestyle.

This holiday season can be meaningful if you focus on what truly matters, such as connection, gathering, and shared experiences. If you get overly caught up in material things, you may feel unsettled. Expressing appreciation and care for others can bring a deeper sense of grounding. Giving and receiving gifts is fine, but sometimes the most meaningful gestures are a hug, a smile, or hearing the words, “I appreciate you.”

Capricorn Rising:

The New Moon falls in your twelfth house, the area of spirituality and solitude. This is a powerful time to examine your beliefs, fears, and the aspects of life that are beyond your control. You may feel drawn to withdraw and reflect on the past year, considering how you want to move forward. Sharing your thoughts with someone you trust can help transform what once felt overwhelming into something manageable.

You may also feel the presence or love of someone who has passed away and realize that unresolved grief has created distance between you and others. Healing takes time, but know that those who cared for you would want you to live fully and find happiness.

You will have the energy to make changes and pursue your interests. A surge of vitality may inspire you to start new projects, especially ones you prefer to work on independently. Over the next few weeks, you may shift how others perceive you or change your image. Inspired ideas may surface, so write them down and plan thoughtfully. Not everything needs to happen at once.

If you meet someone over the next few weeks who feels exciting or different, give them a chance. This person could help you loosen up and access creativity. What feels stuck now will not remain that way, so be open to connecting with people outside your usual circles.

During the holidays, group work or partnerships may not appeal to you. You may instead be drawn to personal pleasures or exploring something new. Romantic interest could arise unexpectedly. Enjoy the playful moments and surprises, as that unconventional connection may be exactly what you’ve been looking for.

Aquarius Rising:

During the New Moon, you may feel a renewed connection to your friends. You could meet new people to add to your social circle or decide to do some volunteer work. Lately, you’ve been feeling more optimistic, especially when it comes to other people, including those you work with day to day. You may make a pledge to better balance friendships, work, and alone time over the next year.

You may feel called to take action around meditation, manifestation, or prayer. There is a sense of spiritual responsibility unfolding for you, where you want your exercise routine to be more than just physical. Though you tend to meditate or exercise alone, you may feel drawn to attend a breathwork class or kundalini yoga, revisiting a practice you explored many years ago.

Home may feel unpredictable at times. However, when you remain calm and optimistic, interruptions are easier to manage. If you share space with someone, they may not be living up to your expectations. It may be worth asking yourself whether you are seeing the full picture of who they are.

Part of this may stem from concerns about income and whether the money you have will cover everything. If someone is not pulling their financial weight, you may feel they are not being responsible or acting like part of the team. This concern may be valid, but before making a judgment, consider whether they truly have the same capabilities and resources as you.

This holiday season can bring spiritual insights and awaken your intuition. Allow what comes up over the next month to guide your path. Next year may be quite busy for you, especially when it comes to work. Taking time now to unwind and rebalance can help you manage the additional responsibilities you’ll be taking on in the year ahead.

Pisces Rising:

Your career receives a boost from the New Moon. Does this mean a new job is possible? Yes, but it can also signal a reset in how you are perceived at work. You may see an increase in income, or your boss and higher ups may be noticing the talent you bring to the workplace.

There is a chance you’ve been carrying more responsibility than others, which could mean working through part of the holiday season. If this arrangement benefits you, that’s fine. If not, you may want to reach out to contacts to explore other possibilities. A former coworker may know of a better opportunity. It’s not that your current role isn’t working, but it may be time to consider a new company.

Over the past couple of years, you’ve been taking responsibility for shaping your future, even though the past year has felt murky. Others may see you as serious or focused, while internally you’ve been reflecting on your wants, needs, and hopes. At times, you may feel low on energy, even for basic tasks like getting dressed or styling your hair. Prioritizing what truly needs your attention, delegating where possible, and letting go of unnecessary tasks will serve you well.

Some of the drain on your energy may come from your children, or you could be pregnant, which is a strong possibility. If you are juggling kids and a full-time job, you may feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. Look for shortcuts or ask for help. The idea of the superparent is a myth. If a sibling or cousin can step in, even briefly, accept the support so you can rest.

The holidays are likely to be filled with cheer, and you may spend this time with friends and family. Children may be a central focus, whether or not they are your own. If you do not have children, you are in a cycle that favors pregnancy. Take precautions if you do not want kids, but if you do, the energy is present to support creating new life.

Final Thoughts on This New Moon

From an astrological perspective, I tend to view the New Year as beginning in March. Still, this New Moon offers a chance for new beginnings based on what has unfolded over the past nine months. Let your doubts dissolve, map out a plan, write your resolutions, and lean into Mars being in Capricorn. This is a powerful holiday season for prioritizing and working toward your goals.

More importantly, this is an opportunity to spend quality time with the people you care about. It’s easy to get caught up in daily routines or see the world through narrow lenses. As the year comes to a close, we are given a chance to shift perspective and focus on what truly matters. For me, that means spending time with family. For you, it may look different. I wish everyone a New Moon filled with fresh starts and a very happy and safe holiday season.
