Scorpio New Moon 2025: Power Shift

Heard the saying “any port in the storm?” How about one that is absolutely right for you? That’s the promise of this month’s Scorpio New Moon.

It’s showing that all the emotional comings and goings of the past month or so have not been for naught. The time is here to make something from them: Everything you’ve soaked up; every discomfort that’s rippled through your being; every matter you’ve revisited, investigated, reworked, cleared up, or released; every emotional wave and current and drama that you have ridden or dived into or swum through.

All those experiences are permeating the beginnings, seeds, and intentions formulating under this Scorpio New Moon. You have been changed by all the water influences rolling and rolling and rolling over you. And it’s from that new form that this moon transforms those experiences into the next phase of being.

Scorpio is focused on deep, intense experiences and connections. It perceives secrets; it understands without words; it hones in on what it values most with blinders blocking the fluff. This moon is especially clear and focused, for a couple of reasons.

One is that it is crossing territory that has seen incredible, frequent action of late. As Mercury and Mars did in October, the Sun and the Moon are in a direct current to Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn and Neptune in Pisces. Jupiter is coaxing the waters into higher and higher waves, escalating issues into outlandish proportions; Saturn is angling for containment while also contributing factors of authority, burdens, obligations and commitment, while Neptune blurs the boundaries between people, as well as between reality and fantasy.

The impact on the New Moon is supersizing Scorpio’s intensity, focus and privacy, steeling its grip and imbuing it with a sense of higher purpose (or, in the less elevated form, cloaking its actions and motives all the more). All of these characteristics mold what you are launching now.

The other factor is that your thoughts and perspective are themselves especially clear and focused. The planet that rules them, Mercury, has just met with the Sun and is fused with the New Moon as well, at the same degree and just minutes away from Ground Zero.

Mercury is making his second of three passes himelf across this territory, brought there by his current retrograde. He’s bringing the fruits of his journey so far into this event. Whatever we have learned, encountered, investigated, unearthed, revisited and redone feeds directly into the Moon’s cauldron of creation. (We’ll get another look at it after Mercury turns direct and sails through these waters one final time in early December.)

What you contemplate and cultivate now is targeted, fierce and formidable. It has staying power, with the force of your mind willing it into being. And it has room for innovation, surprises, or startling insights. The Moon’s opposition to disruptive, awakening Uranus is electrifying the Scorpionic waters and lighting up possibilities within them (as well monkey wrenches lurking in the drink).

The upshot: what the Moon unleashes may vary from what you think is rolling out. Still, the results are on track with your evolution, with the two cosmic change agents working in tandem (via Uranus’ out-of-sign trine to Scorpio’s modern ruler Pluto).

The waters will continue to roll over us, around us, and under us for weeks. Retrograde Mercury soon completes another water grand trine, with Venus then stepping into the flow and Mercury one more time, in December. We can’t push them back. May as well work with them, and with this Moon.

As Judi Dench’s character Evelyn said in the film The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel:

“Initially you’re overwhelmed. But gradually you realize it’s like a wave. Resist, and you’ll be knocked over. Dive into it, and you’ll swim out the other side.”
