Finding Your Higher Self: A Morning Guide for the Soul

Finding Your Higher Self: A Morning Guide for the Soul

I used to rush through my mornings like everyone else—shower, coffee, door. But five years ago, a wise friend taught me something that changed everything: our first waking moments are magic.

They're these precious windows where we're closer to our higher selves than any other time.

Let me share what I've learned about making those moments count.

Start Soft
Don't grab your phone. Don't jump up. Just lie there for a minute and breathe. I like to imagine my breath as this gentle golden light, filling me up with each inhale. Sometimes I'll stretch my arms up, fingers spread wide, like I'm catching starlight. It sounds a bit woo-woo, I know, but try it. There's something about that sleepy, dreamy state that makes everything feel possible.

Your Crystal Family
My nightstand looks like a tiny crystal garden, and each stone has its own story. There's this chunk of rose quartz I found at a tiny shop in Sedona, smooth as silk from years of handling. Next to it sits a piece of amethyst that catches the morning light just so. Pick stones that speak to you—maybe it's the deep, grounding weight of black tourmaline or the sunny optimism of citrine. Let them be your morning companions.

Write it Out
Keep a notebook—nothing fancy, just something that feels good in your hands. Every morning, I fill three pages with whatever flows through my mind. Sometimes it's dreams, sometimes it's worries, sometimes it's just "I don't know what to write" over and over until something real breaks through. The magic happens when you stop trying to make sense and just let your hand move.

Mirror Work (Stay With Me Here)
This one feels weird at first, but stick with it. Stand in front of your mirror, look yourself in the eyes, and speak your truth. Not someone else's affirmations—your own words. Mine change daily, but they're usually simple: "I trust my gut" or "Today, I choose peace." The key is believing what you're saying. If you don't believe it, find words you do believe.

Clear the Air
There's this beautiful practice of energy clearing that I've adapted over time. Some days it's as simple as opening a window and imagining the fresh air washing away yesterday's heaviness. Other days, I'll light some dried herbs—sage, lavender, whatever feels right—and let the smoke carry away what no longer serves me. It's less about the tools and more about the intention.

Here's the thing about morning rituals—they're deeply personal. What works for me might feel completely wrong for you, and that's okay. Start with what calls to you. Maybe it's just sitting quietly with your tea, watching the sun paint the walls. Maybe it's dancing to one perfect song before the world wakes up.

The real magic isn't in following someone else's routine perfectly—it's in creating moments that make your soul feel at home. Trust yourself. Your higher self is already there, waiting to show you the way.
