2018 the Mars retrograde journey 26 June- 5.04 pm EDT to Aug 27- 10.05 am EDT

Mars is the planet that motivates us to take assertive action. He can also express sudden and impulsive action that is disruptive/destructive and chaotic (especially the latter while he visits Aquarius). He is the “god of war” in mythology and he loves competition and conflict. He seems to be playing that game in the world over the last two months. But his higher expression is to be the spiritual warrior who takes action to make a difference in the world. As he retrogrades at 09 degrees Aquarius June 26 he is asking us all to look within and discover the special mission we have as an individual to transform the collective consciousness (Aquarius) from division to unity. Aquarius connects us to Cosmic Love. Mars in Aquarius is also asking us to heal the world wound by healing ourselves.

I recently joined an Astrology Hub on-line seminar where astrologers explored the events of this summer (winter in the Southern Hemisphere). Astrologer Gemini Brett says “fix yourself to fix the world”. He also talked about the planets coming to help heal the wound in the World Soul. Carol Ferris talked about Mars helping us to cut out what is no longer useful and make choices from the educated heart. Divina Del-Sol said unchain yourself and break free. Kaypacha also said it is time to break free from the past and step outside the “box”. To embark on the hero’s journey of healing the world wound. These are definitely the themes of Mars retrograde and also Venus when she retrogrades in Scorpio Oct 05 to Nov 16.   

This current Mars retrograde journey began when he was at 28 degrees Capricorn on May 12 and entered his retrograde shadow. His planetary guide at that time was Saturn Rx in Capricorn (limitation and restriction or embracing your Soul Purpose). Mars was also square Uranus in Aries (breaking through to a New Way of Being) at that time. Uranus entered Taurus (what is of true value and importance) on May 15 and Mars entered Aquarius on May 16 (breaking free from the past and creating a New World). This was their exact Fourth Quarter Square (Taurus/Aquarius) which set the tone for the mars journey. The theme is revision and realignment by cutting out what is no longer of value. This Square (motivation for change) repeats Aug 01 and Sept 18. While Mars is in Aquarius the planet Uranus in Taurus is guiding him (breaking free from the past and breaking through to the new).

The theme of becoming aware of breaking free from the past through healing was strong June 04 to 11 when Mars was travelling with the South Node in Aquarius (letting the past go with love). He will again join the South Node July 16 to 24. This time he is retrograde asking us to look deeply within at what really needs to be released. You may find people from the past showing up that you need to complete with. Mars in Aquarius will do his final dance with the Aquarius South Node (for this cycle) when he is in direct motion Sept 24 to 29. That is the breaking free time. So the focus for the next three months continues to be breaking free from the shadows that haunt us both individually and collectively. And the collective unconsciousness is what needs to be transformed so the New Earth can be birthed.

Following are important dates for this Mars journey.

• May 16- Mars entered Aquarius Square Uranus in Taurus- revision and realignment of what is of true value and importance.
• June 26- Mars retrograde at 09 degrees Aquarius- looking within to discover your healing gifts to give to the world.
• Aug 01- Mars Rx in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus- Review what you experienced May 16 and what still needs to be revised and realigned.
• Aug 12- Mars retrogrades back into Capricorn- focus on your Soul Purpose path.
• Aug 27- Mars moves direct at 28 degrees Capricorn- Begin to journey forward.
• Sept 10- Mars now direct re-enters Aquarius- Become the Visionary Wayshower for others
• Oct 10- Mars clears his retrograde shadow- Step into that new Way of Being free from the past.

The Mars journey is just one of the intense activations. We also have a New Moon Solar Eclipse on July 12 at 20 degrees Cancer (spiritual destiny path). A Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on July 27 at 04 degrees Aquarius (spiritual vision). That same day Mars in Aquarius opposes the Sun in Leo and begins a new Shamanic journey as the Cosmic Visionary and Wayshower. And there is another New Moon Solar Eclipse on Aug 11 at 18 degrees Leo (being guided in all you do by the Compassionate Heart). The New Moon Eclipses are also Super Moons (intensifying emotions). Mars can also be called a Super Mars. He is closer to Earth (in distance) than he has been since 2003. Now we add a Mercury retrograde in Leo (ego vs heart) from July 25/26 to Aug 18/19 (depending on your time zone). We will of course write more about these events closer to the time they occur.

So we all have the gift of profound healing. Not just individually but also healing the World Soul.
