One of the most common questions I get in channeled readings is “What is my purpose?”

It seems many of us feel an urgent drive to do what we came here to do – and we want to make sure we know what that is. We want to make sure we’re “doing it right”. I was no exception. In my 20’s I started feeling this “I’m here to do something really important” impulse. But I had no idea what it was I was supposed to do.

The answer to “What is my purpose?” is first and foremost this: just being here on Earth. I realize this doesn’t sound very exciting and it doesn’t answer the question of why we feel this strong impulse to do something – whatever it is we’re “supposed” to do here. More on that later.

Starseeds and Wanderers

Starseeds/Wanders are told that they are here mainly to raise the vibrational energy of Earth (or the humans of Earth). We do this just by bringing our “higher” vibrational beingness into a human body and living a life. In addition – the more “powerful” your frequency, the more incredible you are at keeping that energy modulated in the body and in the physical realm of Earth (with help from the “outside”) . If you weren’t, you would spontaneously “pop out” of your body and become your true essence again (and not on Earth). Some beings may select a “handicap” (mental or physical) or a very thick veil to keep themselves from going back to their “higher” vibrational form.

A Word About Word Choice

I love what Christian Sundberg has to say about how difficult it is to use language to explain concepts we don’t have here on Earth. I end up putting things in quotes because, to me, there is no such thing as “higher” or “lower” or better or worse, or more or less powerful. There are only states of experience and perspective. You can catch interviews with Christian on YouTube where he shares how and why he decided to come to Earth (fascinating)! Some of it may resonate with you as far as why you are here. I’ll link to his book below.

Many Layers of Purpose

There are a lot of layers within this whole purpose subject. We are incredibly expansive beings, and so we have a lot of ideas of ways to expand our true beings through incarnating on Earth. The Arcturians have pointed out that we are (to use our words) overachievers. So, while we’re here, we’re not just going to be. Earth is so diverse with experience, and our true selves are so fascinated with the idea of expansion (learning more, doing more, becoming more, changing our frequency, expanding our energy) that we plan ways to do just that. We have help from our guides, and some of us even remember our life-planning sessions from before we incarnate here.

YOUR Purpose

So, how do you determine what your purpose is? The Arcturians will ask you what you’re interested in.

What are you drawn to?

• The Fae realm
• Animals
• Plants
• The Oceans
• The Human mind and its processes
• The Paranormal
• Food security
• Political restructuring
• Cultural restructuring
• Art
• Music
• The Human body

Therein lies a layer of your answer. The questions then become “Where is your focus, and where do you want it to be?” You get to choose while you’re here. You also have guides and specialized beings who will help you with whatever you came here to experience – even if you never realize they’re there. I love what Bashar says about how you’ve chosen to walk down a certain hallway – but what that hallway looks like is up to you. And even if you came here to experience something very difficult for your own expansion, it doesn’t have to be 100% miserable. We’re very adept at figuring out ways to mitigate the negative. We’re pretty gifted that way.

More Layers

Let’s not forget the fun part. There are so many interesting and exciting things to do, see and have while we’re here. So, yet another layer of purpose is to have fun! Do what you love to do and be who you really are. Learning/Remembering to be the real you is another big part of being here.

I do realize that sometimes we try to do what we love to do and seem to be stymied at every turn. There are assuredly reasons for this. I like to ask myself a couple of questions to get “unstuck” (and P.S. you can’t really ever get stuck and you can’t “get it wrong”).

1. If I was designing a lesson for myself around this (as my “higher” self) what would that be? What am I trying to learn?
2. Am I believing something about myself that isn’t true? (Something learned while here on Earth.)

I Already Know My Purpose, But Can’t Achieve It

I hear a lot that Earth’s monetary system needs to change so that lightworkers are able to do the work they came here to do. That would be nice, wouldn’t it? But most likely when we feel this way, we need to ask ourselves the questions above. Maybe the whole point of not being able to do what you believe your mission is, is a learning experience and why you are here. So, by trying to figure it out, you’re actually doing it. It seems illogical that serving your purpose could feel like being stuck, but it’s possible and that’s how we expand.

Having said that, another thing the Arcturians are always telling us is that we are creator beings – and powerful ones at that! Here are some ways I can think of – just off the top of my head – that can help you achieve what you believe your purpose is.

Grand plans, though amazing and serving massive numbers of people, are often products of your personality self (or what we call ego). Your true self knows every being is here for its own purpose and that we are all eternal. So, if you can’t find a way to “go big”, you don’t have to “go home”.

I find it so amusing at times that we are all here in individual bodies, driving our individual vehicles and we believe we are all separate from each other. Not true in the slightest, but it’s a thing we believe so we can expand. Remembering that we are all one means we can work together to accomplish whatever we want. Whatever you believe your purpose is, there is someone out there who believes their purpose aligns with yours and their talent is perfect for your project and vice versa. There is no such thing as competition. There is such a thing as fear, and it can throw a wrench in the best plans.

Get Creative. Use your connection to source to see the potential in the future and walk back through the steps to see how we got there. (That thing we call time doesn’t really exist either.) What’s the first step that leads to the outcome we want?

You may begin the project that someone else has agreed (at the spiritual level) to finish. You may or may not get credit for having done this. Your higher self does not care about who gets credit (only your personality self does). Start it anyway. Or discover someone’s unfinished or unknown work and make it famous. They may no longer be on the planet, but again, that’s not the point.

So, now you know your purpose is most likely many-fold, and also you probably don’t have to do anything at all and you have served it. All you have to decide is how you want to play this game. Do you want to take actions and feel accomplished? Nothing wrong with that! Do you want to go all internal and serve your purpose by being the most expanded version of yourself that you can manage this go-round? That’s awesome too! Again, you get to choose and you can’t screw it up! Whew!

Now get out there and live your purpose! Or not… any choice works.
